Chapter 250: You Came to Work

Adeline's eyes dimmed instantly.

Her hand began to tremble slightly.

Taking a deep breath, Adeline tried to keep her emotions in check,  "Mr. Foster, even if I am overthinking, I have my reasons. I'm willing to give all my credit and accolades to Mrs. Foster. Isn't that a good thing for you? When the time comes, she can get promoted at the Foster Group in public, without caring about what others say."

On the other end, Jasper leaned back in his car seat and laughed lazily. "If I want my wife to work at the Foster Group, I don't need to care about what the employees think."

Adeline's hand holding the phone suddenly froze.

Jasper's deep voice continued elegantly, "Whatever position I put Stella, she can hold it as my wife."

"She doesn't need to snatch your credit and honor," Jasper added.

Adeline felt her breath was about to stop.

Her head buzzed.

Indeed. As long as Jasper wished, Stella could hold any position at the Foster Group.

Even if Stella wanted to be the president at the Foster Group, as long as Jasper was willing, no one could stop it.

Out of nowhere, Adeline thought about when she first married Jasper.

At that time, she was eager to work at the Foster Group as his right-hand woman, supporting him both at work and at home.

But what did Jasper say back then?

Jasper said they had to be careful about what others would say. Unless Adeline were truly capable, Jasper wouldn't arrange any position for her at the Foster Group.

Jasper had also said that if a president didn't consider one's abilities and allowed anyone to hold any position, then that president would have no credibility.

Back then, Adeline believed it wholeheartedly, striving every day to improve herself and never mentioning working at the Foster Group again.

Adeline had always thought that she needed to be exceptional before she could stand by his side and become his right-hand woman in business.

Adeline had naively believed that Jasper was a fair, honest, and upright president.

Looking back now, Adeline realized how foolish she had been back then.

"Forget it." With a sigh, she didn't even say goodbye and hung up the phone.

Jasper's intentions were clear.

Putting away her phone, Adeline couldn't sleep all night.

She had considered many plans to prevent Stella from harming Bennett and Lauren in Blue Bay.

But in the end, she crossed them all out one by one.

If Adeline didn't personally protect them, these so-called plans were useless.

Adeline spent a restless night, waking up from a nightmare as dawn approached.

In the dream, Stella had poisoned Bennett and Lauren slowly. The two children returned to her side, emaciated and on the verge of death.

When Adeline opened her eyes, her pillow was already wet with tears.

When Adeline opened her eyes, tears had wet the pillow.

Sitting alone on the bed, holding the damp pillow, Adeline stared at the just-lightening sky outside the window, feeling disoriented.

She wanted to escape with the children.

But Adeline knew very well that without having Jasper's child, no matter where she escaped to, she wouldn't be able to get away.

Adeline couldn't abandon Blake.

Even if she had to fight until the last minute, she couldn't give up on Blake.

At eight in the morning, Adeline wearily opened the office door.

"Five minutes left." As the door opened, a cold female voice rang out.

Frowning, Adeline instinctively looked up.

Sitting in her office chair was Stella, clad in red, her face impassive.

Seeing Adeline look over, Stella shrugged. "I'll take this office."

With that, Stella flung the documents on Adeline's desk at her. "Pack up your things and leave."

"This will be my office from now on," Stella added.

Adeline froze in place.

After a while, she looked up in surprise. "Are you here to work?"

Stella rolled her eyes. "Obviously!"

For some reason, Jasper had insisted that Stella worked on Adeline's project, starting as an assistant from the bottom.

Stella was cozy at home but called to work early in the morning, making her extremely angry.

What Stella couldn't stand the most was that Jasper made it clear that once she got here, she had to listen to Adeline in everything.

When the project ended, Stella wasn't allowed to take credit or accolades from Adeline

'Why? As the wife of a group president, why should I work as Adeline's assistant?' Stella thought.

Calling it an assistant was putting it nicely. It was just doing chores.

Stella couldn't be late or leave early. She had to work as long as Adeline did.

Stella felt like she was going to collapse.

Continuing to throw things off the table on the floor angrily, Stella snapped, "Hurry up and take your things away! I find them disgusting!"

Watching Stella's frustrated demeanor, Adeline couldn't help but feel better.

Adeline chuckled softly, squatting down to pick up the papers Stella had thrown on the floor. "What position did Mr. Foster arrange for you?"

Stella unkindly rolled her eyes. "To be your assistant."

Lucia, who couldn't resist, walked in. She helped Adeline tidy up while sarcastically commenting, "With all this fuss, I thought you were here to be the project manager. And it turns out you're just an assistant?"

Adeline continued to pack her things with her head down. "Enough."

Stella's coming to work at the company and spending most of her time here was already great news for Adeline.

Having Stella under her watch was much better than Stella being at home.

"Adeline, you're too easygoing." Lucia helped Adeline gather the files, muttering under her breath, "This is the first time I've seen an assistant with such a temper throwing around the project manager's files."

Stella's eyebrows shot up. "What do you mean?"

Standing up, Stella walked over angrily in her high heels. "Don't forget, I am Jasper's wife! Even if my current position is just an assistant, I'm still Jasper's wife!"

"The entire Foster Group belongs to Jasper and me. If I want to get rid of you, it's easy peasy!" Stella added.

Stella's arrogant tone made Lucia frown.

Although Lucia was displeased, she remained silent.

After organizing the files, Lucia hurriedly left the room.

Adeline organized the documents and looked up at Stella with a smile. "Do you want this office? Take it, and I'll go elsewhere."

Stella rolled her eyes at her but eventually stood up from the chair, "As if I care about this lousy place."

As she got up, Stella noticed a photo on the desk, which was a picture of Adeline and Bennett.

However, Bennett looked much paler and weaker in the photo.

Stella squinted slightly and picked up the photo. "Bennett looks really good in this photo," she said.

Seeing Stella pick up the photo, Adeline narrowed her eyes sharply.

"Put it down," Adeline demanded.

"Why should I?" Stella sneered and smashed the photo on the ground.

Then, Stella stepped on the photo with her high heels.

The sharp heel pierced through the face in the photo.

After doing this, Stella pretended to be surprised and covered her mouth. "Oh no, what an accident!"
