Chapter 644 What Nonsense Are You Talking About?
When Jasper arrived at the bar, Adeline was already so drunk that she was holding Mia and talking nonsense.
She was crying and laughing, sometimes mistaking Mia for Daniel, and complaining about why he sent her younger sister away.
Other times, she mistook Mia for Bennett, and confessed that she hadn't taken good care of him.
Most of the time, she held Mia and called out Jasper's name, asking him why he gave Thomas money and arranged for him to leave.
"I know you actually like me. But I can't understand. If you like me, why would you turn a blind eye to others plotting against me and even help them escape?"
As soon as Jasper entered the private room, he heard Adeline's complaints.
He frowned, walked over, and gently took Mia's place, holding Adeline tenderly in his arms. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"Adeline is not talking nonsense." Violet crossed her arms and placed the bills Adeline had photographed on her phone and the information Mia had investigated on the coffee table.
She added, "Mr. Foster, although Adeline is drunk now, I think you still need to explain some things. Why did you agree to transfer $500,000 to Thomas and let him leave on your private jet when he came looking for you at the Foster family's home six years ago, right after her accident? And what does the note 'settlement' mean on the bill? Why did you settle accounts with Thomas?"
Jasper frowned, comforting Adeline while picking up the documents Violet had placed on the coffee table.
When he saw the virtual account used to transfer money to Thomas, his frown deepened, "I did transfer this money. And the note 'settlement' was indeed my request. But..."
Jasper looked up, his gaze fixed on Violet, who was pretending to be calm but was extremely nervous; she said, "Is the account that received the transfer really Thomas's?"
"I don't know." He replied.
Mia frowned, "Then why did you transfer the money and note 'settlement'?"
Jasper rubbed his temples, "Because it was the last time I transferred money to Nathan."
During the time right after Adeline's accident, he was in a daze, often sitting on the bridge for an entire day.
Sometimes, even if he wasn't on the bridge, he was at home drinking, ignoring the company's affairs.
Lily thought that if this continued, the Foster Group might collapse, so she brought Nathan back overnight, hoping he could take on some responsibilities as the head of the Foster family.
Unexpectedly, after Nathan returned to Radiance Springs, he still ignored the Foster Group's affairs. Every day, he asked either Lily or Jasper for money.
Jasper was annoyed every day, so he finally asked Nathan to name a price, and he would transfer the money to him to settle accounts.
Then Nathan gave him this account and asked for $500,000.
After this transfer, Jasper never gave Nathan another penny.
He didn't expect that the account Nathan gave him was actually Thomas's.
Jasper's words made Mia frown, "Mr. Foster, don't you think this excuse is a bit far-fetched? Wouldn't you check whose account it is before transferring money to anyone?"
Her words made Jasper frown slightly. He looked up, his gaze calm, "You're right. If it were any other time, I would have investigated thoroughly."
As he spoke, he lowered his gaze and gently wiped the tears from Adeline's eyes, "Ms. White, you should also know that Adeline had just had her accident not long ago. I was not in a good state at that time. Forgive me for not having the mood or time to investigate who was behind this account and what their relationship with Nathan was. If I remember correctly, I wasn't managing things at that time either. My grandmother might have given Nathan the permissions for the private jet."
Jasper's words left Mia and Violet stunned. They exchanged glances, neither expecting the truth to be like this.
They had originally planned to call Jasper over, take advantage of Adeline being drunk, and make him explain himself, while also scolding him for being a bastard.
But he explained everything and even showed affection in front of them.
After a while, Jasper raised his eyes, "Now that it's confirmed this account belongs to Thomas, and that Thomas left Radiance Springs on my private jet."
Mia nodded silently, "According to the information Molly revealed to Adeline, Thomas first went to the Foster family estate, found Mr. Nathan Foster, and explained that he was hired by you and Miss Collins to commit the crime. Then he received the $500,000 transfer and left on the private jet that night."
Jasper's grip on Adeline tightened slightly.
It was well known that Mr. Foster could refer to either Jasper or Nathan.
When Adeline had her accident, Jasper was either on the bridge or hiding in her room at Blue Bay, drinking.
How could he have been at the Foster family estate?
Considering the transfer and the private jet...
Jasper held Adeline tightly, feeling a chill in his heart.
Therefore, Nathan knew how Adeline died six years ago.
He knew the whole truth but chose to help Molly, transfer money to Thomas, and send him away.
No wonder six years later, whether Jasper was in a coma or trapped in the underground warehouse, Molly would notify Nathan first, who could seize Jasper's property.
Since Adeline's accident six years ago, Nathan and Molly had been in cahoots.
He had always thought that Lily's illness this time was due to Molly poisoning her at the engagement ceremony.
Jasper narrowed his eyes slightly. The person who poisoned Lily. might not have been Molly herself!
Thinking of this, he took a deep breath and gently put Adeline down, "Please take care of Adeline. I have urgent business to attend to."
Violet frowned, "Where are you going?"
"To find Nathan." He replied.
