Chapter 623 Why Put All the Blame on Me?

Adeline was totally caught off guard when Rex shoved her, sending her flying off the stage that was a good 10 feet high, with big, bright lights and a bunch of sharp-edged metal brackets below.

Adeline saw those sharp edges coming up fast and squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the worst. She could already picture the painful landing and was just waiting for the impact.

But out of nowhere, a big hand grabbed her mid-air.

Adeline froze and turned her head instinctively. It was Jasper who caught her, and he looked seriously pissed!

She was too stunned to say anything. Jasper was still hurt! She wanted to help him, but she was barely hanging on the edge of the stage herself.

Just as she started worrying that Jasper might get pulled down with her, Mia shouted at the nearby bodyguards. "How dare you just stand there! I know Nathan and Rex hired you, but do you even know who Jasper is?"

Mia's words snapped the bodyguards into action, and they rushed over to pull Adeline and Jasper back up.

Nathan and Rex exchanged a quick look and tried to make a run for it. But Mia blocked their path after just a few steps. "Mr. Nathan Foster and Mr. Rex Foster, where do you think you're going? Jasper's funeral isn't over, and the company handover isn't done."

Her loud voice drew all the cameras their way.

Nathan and Rex glared at Mia, wanting to say something but held back by all the cameras.

After being saved by the bodyguards, both Adeline's and Jasper's hearts were pounding. Adeline was scared and anxious, while Jasper was in serious pain from his reopened wound.

The bodyguards quickly brought over two chairs for them to sit down. Once the bodyguards stepped back, Mia and her crew forced Nathan and Rex back onto the stage.

Jasper gave Rex a cold look. Despite his pain, his voice was steady and deep. "In front of everyone, you pushed Adeline off a high stage! Isn't that attempted murder?"

"Of course it is!" Mia sneered, "I've already called the cops! The evidence is clear!"

She looked at the reporters below the stage, "Did you all get that on camera?"

The reporters nodded. "Got it clearly!"

The loud response made Nathan break out in a cold sweat!

Mia really had called the cops. With so many cameras capturing the incident, they couldn't dodge the blame! Jasper would never let them off the hook for what they did today.

Rex had been spoiled his whole life by him and Brenda. How could he handle prison life! He'd heard that people in prison couldn't even take proper showers! Rex would definitely suffer if he went in. Thinking of this, Nathan bit his lip hard.

He realized the only way to keep Rex from getting arrested was to beg Adeline, even though he really didn't want to.

The sound of police sirens was already faintly audible outside! Rex, who was usually so tough, turned into a scared little kid and grabbed Nathan's sleeve. The sirens had him in tears.

"Dad, what do we do? I was just so mad. I don't want to go to jail! You know I already have a record." He was crying so hard he could barely get the words out.

Nathan felt his forehead veins throbbing like crazy. He remembered Rex had a few run-ins with the law before, which he had smoothed over with money and connections.

If Rex got arrested now, Jasper might dig up all his past dirt. It wouldn't just be about going to jail! Thinking of this, Nathan didn't care about anything else and turned to beg Adeline. "Miss Wilson, Rex did the wrong thing. But for the sake of him being Jasper's brother, please forgive him this time!"

Adeline was shocked by Nathan's sudden move. She just stared at him, speechless. "Nathan, you don't have to beg me to keep Rex from getting arrested."

Jasper said Rex's push was attempted murder, but she wasn't actually hurt. If Rex got arrested, he might get a two or three-year sentence, like Vikram did. And if Nathan played his cards right, Rex might only be detained for ten days or so.

Why would Nathan beg her?

"Maybe Rex has too many skeletons in his closet and can't afford to be arrested," Jasper sneered, looking at Nathan with cold eyes. "No wonder Grandma wanted to kick you out of the family. Lowering yourself for an unworthy son, you really don't deserve to be part of the Foster family."

Nathan's face turned red with embarrassment. For Rex's sake, he kept begging Adeline in front of everyone. "Miss Wilson, please forgive Rex this time. If you tell the police it was all a misunderstanding, Rex can avoid this mess."

Adeline squinted. "Nathan, do you know what could've happened to me if I had fallen? Why should I lie to the police?"

Her words made Nathan's face look even more unpleasant.

Adeline took a deep breath. "Even though I wasn't hurt, I want justice for Jasper. How dare you spread rumors of his death and try to grab the Foster family's assets? I won't lie to the police; you brought this on yourselves."

Nathan's face went pale. He tried to explain, "It was all Molly. Rex and I never planned this press conference. She told us to take advantage of the situation to seize Jasper's assets and announce his death quickly."

He added, "We didn't know Jasper was injured at the time; it was Molly who contacted us and told us to come back! It was all her plan from the start! We were just deceived!"

Nathan's words made Adeline freeze. She looked up at Jasper. Even Nathan and Rex's return to Radiance Springs was all part of Molly's plan.

Suddenly, a cold female voice echoed from the corner of the venue. "Mr. Nathan Foster, I have no quarrel with you, so why are you putting all the blame on me?"
