Chapter 844 I Sent Her to Another City
The first thing Adeline heard when she woke up was Sebastian saying, "You made the headlines."
She frowned and quickly grabbed her phone.
The image on the news website's front page immediately caught her eye.
It was a photo of her straddling Jasper, being carried into his mansion.
In the photo, her eyes were closed as she kissed Jasper's neck, while he held her tightly by the waist, striding into the house.
Seeing the photo, Adeline's mind went blank.
She felt her heart clench painfully.
She glanced at the headline.
[The Foster and Phoebe families have been feuding for a year, but Ms. Adeline Phoebe secretly meets with Jasper at night!]
[Is it a secret affair? What's the real relationship between Ms. Adeline Phoebe and Mr. Jasper Foster?]
[Explosive! Enemies or lovers? The relationship between the Phoebe and Foster families is in question!]
Each headline struck a nerve in Adeline.
She bit her lip, forcing down her emotions, and read through each article.
Every single one painted her as a promiscuous, unprincipled woman.
And all the photos and information came from what Brandon had shown her yesterday!
Her hand gripped the phone tightly, feeling her blood boil.
Was this Brandon's revenge?
She thought he would wait until after the wedding!
But it had already begun!
She bit her lip hard and quickly opened the door.
Outside, Sebastian and Linda were looking at her with concern.
"Adeline, you shouldn't go out today. Don't attend Brandon and Daisy's wedding either," Linda said, grabbing Adeline's arm and lowering her voice.
"These reports are clearly targeting you. If you go out, the reporters will definitely harass you!"
Sebastian frowned as well. "We can't clear this up right away. Until things calm down, I think you should listen to Linda and stay home to rest."
Adeline smirked. "Staying home to rest will solve everything?"
Just then, the sound of a car stopping outside reached them.
A servant rushed upstairs, looking anxious.
"Ms. Wilson, your father and sister are here!"
Adeline narrowed her eyes.
They had come.
She knew that since Brandon and Daisy had exposed her relationship with Jasper, there was no way Howard wouldn't find out about her secretly sending Zara away.
Taking a deep breath, she didn't even bother changing clothes. She washed her face and went downstairs in her pajamas.
Howard and Daisy headed straight for Zara's room as soon as they got out of the car.
Daisy supported Howard and sighed softly. "Father, don't be too upset. Adeline has liked Jasper for a long time."
"These news reports have indeed affected our family, but the problem can be solved. Don't let it affect your health."
"We're here today to tell Mom that I'm getting married today, to make her happy."
"Please don't get angry. If she senses your bad mood, she won't be happy either."
Howard had already been hospitalized once because of Adeline.
Now, holding Nitroglycerin tablets, he was in a much better state.
Hearing Daisy, he sneered. "What a fine daughter she raised!"
"If she feels angry or unhappy, she should wake up!"
With that, Howard lifted his leg and pulled back the curtain, entering the room.
The room was empty.
Where Zara should have been lying, there was only an empty bed.
The bedding was neatly folded, and all the machines that had been keeping Zara alive were gone.
The room was spotless, without a trace of human presence.
Seeing this, Howard staggered, almost losing his balance.
"What happened?"
He turned to Daisy, looking dazed. "Did Adeline move your mother?"
Daisy sneered inwardly, knowing exactly where Zara was.
But she had to put on a show for Howard.
She frowned. "I don't know. Adeline didn't tell me."
"Strange, when I was here yesterday morning, Mom was still lying in this bed."
"How could she disappear in less than a day?"
She glanced at Howard's pale face and gently comforted him. "Dad, don't worry. I'll go ask Adeline."
"Maybe she moved Mom because summer is coming."
Taking a deep breath, Daisy let go of Howard and turned to leave, but the door opened again.
Adeline, still in her pajamas, appeared in the doorway, looking indifferent.
"No need to look for me. I'm here."
Seeing Adeline like this, Howard's dissatisfaction flared up instantly!
He pointed at Adeline, trembling. "Look at you! Look at what you're wearing!"
"It's already past seven! We have guests, and you didn't even change your clothes?"
"Do you have any respect for me as your father?"
Howard wasn't usually one to care about such details.
But with the morning's news causing a stir, and the whole city knowing about Adeline and Jasper, Howard was furious and found fault with everything about Adeline.
"Your complexion is bad, you didn't put on makeup, you're unkempt!"
"How can a woman like you be a daughter of the Phoebe family!"
Adeline chuckled. "I'm not fit to be a daughter of the Phoebe family."
She turned to look at Daisy. "But is she, with the last name Collins, fit to be a daughter of the Phoebe family?"
Daisy's face turned pale instantly, and Howard's expression darkened.
He bit his lip and glared at Adeline. "It doesn't matter if Daisy's last name is Collins or Phoebe!"
"She treats me well, respects me, and knows her manners. She's my good daughter!"
"Unlike you!"
He snorted and pointed at Zara's bed. "And I want to know, where is your mother?"
"Even if she's in a vegetative state, you can't keep moving her around, changing rooms every few days!"
He lifted his leg to head towards the door. "Where did you move her to?"
"If I find out you moved her to a place with bad sunlight, I won't let you off..."
"I didn't move her to another room."
Adeline coldly interrupted Howard, her gaze fixed on the Nitroglycerin tablets in his hand.
"I sent her to another city. She's not in Oceancrest City anymore."
"You!"
Howard pointed at Adeline, unable to get a word out before his eyes rolled back and he collapsed.
