Chapter 209 What Happened to Your Back?

When Adeline spoke these words, there was a smile in her eyes and her voice was light-hearted.
But only she knew how cold the despair in her heart was. Even though she knew all of Jasper's plans and arrangements, she couldn't confront him.
Blake was still waiting for her to save him... She couldn't let her momentary emotions ruin the entire situation!
So, Adeline could only use this seemingly casual approach to joke with Jasper, to build rapport, and to casually brush past this matter.
After all, they had already slept together.
Everyone downstairs had seen it, so Jasper probably wouldn't dare to send her to those male escorts anymore.
But what Adeline didn't expect was that Jasper would play dumb with her.
His dark eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of complexity in his gaze as he asked, "What are you talking about?"
Adeline was taken aback. Looking at the man's face, she suddenly felt that her previous actions were somewhat ridiculous.
It turned out that while she was trying to give him an out, this man was playing dumb. Indeed, playing dumb was much better than her clumsy attempt at giving him an out.
"Let's just forget I said anything." After saying that, she yawned. "Mr. Foster, I didn't sleep well last night. Can I continue sleeping for a while?"
Jasper indifferently extinguished the cigarette between his fingers. "Sleep here? This is Linda and Zavier's home."
The man's deep, unreadable eyes glanced at her. "Since when did you become so close to them?"
This morning, when he heard she was here, he was worried about what Linda and her husband might do to her...
But not only did she appear unharmed in front of him, she even wanted to stay at Linda's place after an intense night together.
Her lazy attitude made it seem like she and Linda had been friends for years.
Adeline closed her eyes and promptly responded, "Because of Sebastian. Sebastian is Zavier's friend, and we all have to save face for him, so we shook hands and became friends."
"Is it that simple?" Jasper asked in return.
"Of course." Adeline rolled her eyes, got up from the bed, put on her close-fitting clothes, grabbed her coat like before, and headed out. "Since you don't want me to sleep here, I'll go back with you."
As she reached the door, the man furrowed his brows and called out to her, "Come back."
The woman paused and turned back to raise an eyebrow at him.
With a dark expression, the man tossed the long coat and pants that Adeline had placed on the bed toward her. "Put these on."
Adeline rolled her eyes, bent down to pick them up, and began to put them on with her back turned to him.
There was not an ounce of extra flesh on her slender waist, sculpted perfectly like a work of art.
As the woman turned away, a long scar on her back caught Jasper's attention, causing him to furrow his brows slightly. He realized he had never noticed it before.
"How did you get that scar on your back?" After a moment of hesitation, Jasper asked in a low voice.
Adeline's hands paused as she was buttoning up. The scar on her back was from a car accident.
Because the wound was too deep, even with the best cosmetic methods at the time, it would still leave a long scar.
During her recovery, she couldn't even lie flat due to the wound on her back.
Thinking back to those painful and helpless days, Adeline still felt a sense of fear.
Seeing her silent, Jasper asked again.
Adeline took a deep breath, turning to smile at him and replied, "It's a scar from falling off a tree when I was a child."
Adeline was clearly lying. But Jasper couldn't be bothered to expose her.
After getting dressed, Adeline stood at the door and spun around. "Can we leave now?"
Jasper furrowed his brows, glanced at her heavily made-up face, and instructed, "Go remove your makeup."
Adeline rolled her eyes at him again, turned and went into the bathroom.
Listening to the sound of running water in the bathroom, Jasper closed his eyes and sighed.
At that moment, his phone rang. It was a message from Ryan downstairs: [Jasper, I found out. Sebastian is still at the police station. He's accusing us of planning to harm Adeline.
[According to his account, last night we had two groups of people, surrounding him and Adeline, and they had to fight their way out. He also said...].
Ryan fell silent for a moment, then continued: [He also said that we brought five male escorts to defile Adeline and threatened her with a video.].
After finishing, Ryan furrowed his brows. [Sebastian really is quite the artist, with such a vivid imagination...].
Jasper held the phone, his brows slightly furrowed. He glanced in the direction of the bathroom, recalling Adeline's words when she sat next to him earlier: [Did you bring five or six male escorts to defile me just to get back at Stella?]
He rubbed his throbbing forehead with his hand. He probably knew why Adeline was acting so recklessly today. Taking off her coat in public, daringly flirting with him.
It turned out...
He closed his eyes and sighed, texting Ryan back: [Check it out.].
After a moment of silence on the phone, Ryan said: [Jasper, do we really need to check this? It's obvious that Sebastian is slandering us! We didn't do anything... What if someone was impersonating us?].
Jasper coldly interrupted him: [Sebastian is not someone who likes to lie. And Adeline is not someone who can be deceived by such a clumsy lie.].
Since they both were so certain, it at least proved that there was indeed a group of people chasing them last night.
[...Understood.]. Ryan responded sullenly.
After Jasper put away his phone, Adeline had finished removing her makeup and came out of the bathroom.
Her face was now very clean and beautiful, but still captivating enough to make people glance sideways.
Jasper stared at her face for a while before coldly giving her a glance. "Let's go."
Adeline pursed her lips and quickly followed him downstairs.
Ryan was nowhere to be seen downstairs.
The room full of bodyguards saw the two of them walking downstairs, one after the other, and couldn't help but lower their heads, not daring to look at Adeline.
Adeline smirked, elegantly walking with Jasper to the car.
As the car started, she yawned wearily and casually glanced around.
There was blood seeping out of the white shirt on the man's right arm.
Adeline's whole body slightly stiffened. She remembered the scene at the factory yesterday.
If Jasper hadn't rushed over and pushed her away at that moment, the raw stone would have hit her spine solidly. It could have resulted in injury or even paralysis.
She stared at the bleeding wound, silently biting her lip.
What kind of person was Jasper? He could step forward to save her in a critical moment. But he could also slap her, the woman he loved, and treat her in such a despicable manner...
"Last night."
Seeing her staring at his wound, Jasper furrowed his brows slightly and cleared his throat, "Last night, I did send Ryan to find you."
His words made Adeline's breath hitch for a moment.
