Chapter 561 Why Did He Hit You?

The other end of the phone went silent for a moment, then the call dropped.

Listening to the busy tone, Jasper narrowed his eyes. Luna and Molly were actually in touch!

Well, that explained how Luna, a total stranger in Radiance Springs, had so many people helping her out. Scott's car accident wasn't just bad luck; it was definitely planned. Without help, Luna couldn't have gotten here so fast.

Thinking about it, he lowered his voice to give an order, "Ryan, check out those people who've been following Grandma!"

If everything went as expected, they should be able to find the person around Lily who was helping Luna.

Ryan nodded and was about to leave with Tim and Tom when he noticed Adeline in Jasper's arms. "What about her?"

Jasper was exhausted and couldn't carry Adeline down from the mountain like before.

"Don't worry," Jasper said, closing his eyes and leaning against a rock with Adeline in his arms. "My backup will be here soon."

If it weren't for the bad weather earlier, he and Adeline wouldn't be in this mess.

Ryan was stunned. Backup? On this desolate mountain top, where was the backup coming from? How would they get here?

Just as Ryan was puzzled, the loud sound of helicopter rotors filled the air.

Ryan froze, instinctively looking up. "A helicopter! It's really a helicopter!"

Tim and Tom, who had never seen such a thing, exclaimed in amazement as the helicopter flew towards them.

Ryan looked at the helicopter and sighed slightly. How many years had it been since he last saw this helicopter? This was a security detail covertly trained by Jasper; unless faced with urgent, life-threatening situations, he would never deploy them. The last time this helicopter and the security detail were deployed was six years ago when Adeline went missing.

Ryan sighed and turned to look at Tim and Tom, who were still watching. "Let's go. The helicopter is here to pick up Mr. Foster and Ms. Wilson; we have to go down the mountain ourselves."

The joy on Tim and Tom's faces instantly disappeared. The two followed Ryan, slowly descending the muddy mountain path.

The helicopter landed on the platform at the top of the mountain.

Several well-trained individuals jumped out of the helicopter; they quickly ran to Jasper, lifted him and Adeline, and carried them back to the helicopter. "Mr. Foster, where to?"

Sitting in the helicopter, Jasper sighed, looking at Adeline, who was lying on his lap, exhausted and unconscious. "Back to Radiance Springs first. Have the rest of the detail escort everyone in the villa back to Radiance Springs."

One of the men replied, "Yes, Mr. Foster!"

Adeline slept for a long time.

She had a long dream, in which someone was gently rubbing her head, calling her a silly woman. Sometimes that person would hold her, lie in her arms or gently stroke her face. She didn't know who that person was, but she didn't resist.

Later, the scenes in the dream changed.

First, it was Luna on the cliff trying to cut the rope binding Blake, then it was Molly trying to cut the rope. Later, the person holding the knife became Bennett.

Bennett looked at her with an evil smile she had never seen before. "I'm not your son; I'm Liam! I'm going to kill your son!"

The scene shifted, and in front of her was Molly's arrogant smile. "Adeline, how does it feel to have your two sons at each other's throat?"

"Bennett, Blake!" Adeline woke up from the nightmare, sitting up abruptly, drenched in sweat.

"Had a nightmare?" Jasper's deep voice came from beside her.

Adeline was stunned, instinctively looking towards the voice.

Jasper was sitting by her bedside, looking at her with a weary smile. "You've been asleep for two days. I thought you were going to sleep longer."

She looked at Jasper's face, dazed for a few seconds before her consciousness gradually returned.

Adeline took a deep breath, looking around the ward. "Are we back in Radiance Springs?"

Jasper nodded.

Adeline asked, "Where are Blake and Lauren?"

"They're resting in Blue Bay," Jasper said, handing her a peeled banana. "They're fine, and so are you. The doctor said you were just mentally stressed for too long, then you overworked and got physically exhausted. You'll be fine once you wake up."

Adeline took the banana he handed over, pursing her lips.

Jasper asked, "Do you want to ask about Luna's situation?"

Adeline nodded while nibbling on the banana.

Jasper said, "She fell off the cliff two days ago. I sent people to search for her body at the bottom of the mountain but found nothing. Maybe a wild animal took her, or maybe we searched the wrong place. The mountain is too big. We have limited manpower; we searched for a few days and then stopped. But experts analyzed that the chances of survival are very small."

Jasper sighed. He quietly sat by the bed, watching Adeline eat.

His gaze was too affectionate, too serious. It was the first time Adeline had been stared at like this by him, making her very uncomfortable.

Adeline didn't know what he wanted to do or why he was looking at her like that. But she was already a bit flustered.

Adeline blushed, finally unable to hold back and glanced at him. "Can you leave? I want to be alone for a while."

Her words made Jasper freeze.

After a while, he took a deep breath and stood up. "Alright."

Jasper walked to the doorway and, still feeling uneasy, glanced back at her. "I'll have Mia and Violet come over to take care of you."

After saying that, Jasper left the ward.

Adeline pursed her lips, watching Jasper's departing figure, feeling that he seemed a bit sad? But when Jasper stayed here and stared at her without speaking, she indeed felt uncomfortable.

Not long after Jasper left, the door to the ward opened.

Adeline thought it was Violet or Mia, and quickly looked up in delight.

Standing at the doorway was Vikram, unkempt and disheveled, with bruises and cuts marring his face.

Vikram said, "I heard you woke up."

He walked in, awkwardly smiling at Adeline. "I sneaked in to see you."

Adeline looked at the bruises on his face. "Your face."

Vikram touched the wounds on his face, awkwardly smiling. "It's nothing. Just got beaten up by Jasper."

Adeline was stunned. "Jasper? Why did he hit you?"

Vikram sighed. "Because of you."
