Chapter 828 Don't Leave
Adeline had been confused earlier about why Isaiah from Everglade City insisted on bringing her along when capturing Oscar.
But now, with his words, it all made sense.
He was supposedly here to settle a score with Oscar, but his real target was her!
It was clear that someone from Oceancrest City had paid Isaiah off, someone who knew Adeline very well.
They knew that within Oceancrest City, all the gangs were under David's protection.
Being Linda's friend, no gang in Oceancrest City would dare take on this job.
Even if someone did, they would be closely watched.
But bringing in someone from Everglade City was a different story.
Isaiah was here under the pretense of chasing a personal vendetta. Even if David found out, he would assume Isaiah was only after Oscar and wouldn't interfere.
This gave Isaiah the perfect opportunity to capture her.
Oscar was just a decoy; she was the real target.
Lying on the ground, Adeline could already guess who had orchestrated Isaiah's arrival from Everglade City.
She closed her eyes, her breathing becoming labored.
Adeline let out a bitter laugh. She had been too naive.
When she received the call from Howard about the blind date, she thought Daisy and Brandon just wanted her to marry Oscar quickly and leave Oceancrest City.
She assumed they simply wanted her out of the way, not involved in the Phoebe Group's affairs.
She never imagined they wanted her dead!
"Adeline." Suddenly, she heard Oscar's voice.
The drugs were starting to take effect. Though Oscar was only a few feet away, his voice sounded distant.
Adeline bit her lip and instinctively looked up at Oscar.
He was looking at her apologetically.
"It's my fault you're in this mess."
"If I hadn't agreed to my family's demands to come to Oceancrest City for this blind date..."
Oscar had picked up on Isaiah's true intentions from his words. Tonight's real target was Adeline.
But this only made him feel more guilty.
If it weren't for him, how could Adeline, a member of the Phoebe family in Oceancrest City, be kidnapped here?
Adeline shook her head. "It's not your fault."
Even if it wasn't Oscar tonight, it would have been someone else.
Daisy and Brandon had decided to use this method against her, so the person didn't matter.
Soon, Adeline's consciousness began to blur.
Oscar's figure became indistinct.
She knew she couldn't just sit and wait for death.
If she was going to die anyway, she might as well choose her own way out!
With this thought, Adeline looked up, her vision blurry, at Isaiah sitting on the sofa.
"You said you wanted to have some fun with me tonight, right?"
Isaiah sneered, swirling his wine glass. "That's right."
"Why?" Adeline forced a seductive smile.
"If I can't escape, can I at least choose to start with you?"
She tried to smile alluringly.
"Blake, you look stronger and more imposing than the others. It would be so much fun with you."
"I love men like you, strong and dominant."
She let her gaze linger on a specific part of Isaiah. "You won't disappoint me, will you?"
Isaiah paused.
In his life of violence, women were always terrified of him. No woman as beautiful as Adeline had ever spoken to him like this.
Isaiah's blood surged.
He excitedly stood up, walked over to Adeline, and lifted her chin. "You really mean that?"
Seeing his attitude soften, Adeline quickly intensified her act.
"Yes."
"I've never tried a man like you before. It must be amazing."
She even licked her lips seductively.
Isaiah couldn't resist such provocation.
He grabbed Adeline and pulled her into his arms, ready to tear off her clothes. Adeline shyly leaned into him. "Let's go to a private room, okay?"
"I want to try something different with you."
Isaiah, thrilled, ordered his men to watch Oscar and carried Adeline to a small room.
Oscar, tied up on the ground, watched Adeline being taken away and closed his eyes in resignation.
He knew Adeline wasn't that kind of woman. She was doing this to protect herself.
But she didn't understand Isaiah.
Isaiah wasn't someone a woman could handle.
Even in the small room, Adeline was in grave danger.
Sure enough.
Soon, screams and sobs came from the small room, along with the sound of fabric tearing.
Oscar closed his eyes and vowed that if he survived, he would avenge Adeline and not let Isaiah go unpunished.
He didn't know how much time had passed.
A loud bang came from the small room, and Adeline's cries stopped.
A bullet had pierced Isaiah's forehead, killing him instantly.
He stared in shock at the man in black before him, trying to speak but unable to.
His large body fell to the ground.
With the gunshot, the warehouse door burst open, and footsteps echoed outside.
Adeline stared in shock at the scene.
Isaiah's blood had splattered on her face from the gunshot.
Adeline was left in just her underwear, her bra torn.
She covered herself with her hands, trying not to be completely exposed, looking disheveled.
The drugs, the humiliation of having her clothes torn, and the shock of Isaiah's sudden death left her staring blankly at Jasper.
She opened her mouth but couldn't form words.
"Don't speak."
Jasper holstered his gun and draped his black coat over her.
Jasper's coat was large, enveloping Adeline completely.
Her trembling body calmed down as she felt the warmth of his coat.
Jasper walked over, picked her up, and carried her out of the small room.
Outside, Isaiah's men were pinned to the ground by David's people.
Oscar, freed from his bonds, clutched his injured arm and looked at the man holding Adeline.
He was tall, imposing, exuding an air of untouchable nobility and arrogance.
Oscar had intended to check on Adeline.
But seeing her so well protected by Jasper, he changed his mind.
Jasper carried Adeline to the car.
He planned to take her back to the estate for Linda to care for her.
But as he released her to close the car door, Adeline clung to his neck.
"Jasper, don't leave."
