Chapter 134 I Slept With Him Too
Jasper woke up the following day to the gentle prodding of Lauren in his arms.
The little girl was poking his face with her finger, "Daddy, why are you so handsome?"
Amused by her childish antics, he raised his hand to ruffle her hair, "Isn't it great to have a handsome dad?"
"Yes!"
Lauren beamed and hugged his face, kissing him on the cheek, "It would be even better if you let Aunt Adeline go!"
At the mention of Adeline, Jasper's eyes deepened.
He glanced at Lauren, "Do you really want her out that much?"
"Uh-huh!"
Lauren clung to his arm, "Ever since I can remember, she's been the one taking care of me. If she hadn't been good to me, I wouldn't be here with you, safe and sound, right?
"She's been so kind to me; I can't bear to see her suffer."
The man furrowed his brows.
He'd always noticed how good Adeline was to Lauren.
She, indeed, was a kind-hearted woman.
But why, why did she do what she did?
Lauren's big, round eyes were fixed on Jasper. "Daddy, can't you just let Aunt Adeline's issue go?"
He sighed and gently stroked Lauren's head, "This isn't just up to me."
He and Stella were both victims of the situation.
His forgiveness alone was futile when the person who was hurt the most was Stella.
"What if Aunt Stella forgives her? Can you forgive her, too?"
Lauren asked with fluttering eyelashes.
Jasper was silent for a long while.
Finally, he nodded, "If she can forgive, I can forgive too."
"Yay!"
With that, Lauren climbed out of bed and swiftly escaped to the bathroom to wash up.
Watching her little silhouette scurry away, Jasper shook his head and also got out of bed to freshen up.
By the time he made his way downstairs with Lauren nestled in his arms, Bennett and Stella were already seated at the dining table.
"Good morning, Mr. Foster."
Reclining in his chair, Bennett greeted him politely.
Jasper settled Lauren into her chair and gave him a stern look. "It's 'Daddy' now."
The kid rolled his eyes. "Isn't Lauren calling you 'Daddy' enough?"
After speaking, he threw a glance at Stella, "Right, gorgeous?"
Jasper moved closer to Stella, his expression darkening, "So is it 'Mr. Foster' for your father and 'gorgeous' for your mother?"
Bennett smirked, "I'll do as I please."
"You!"
"Jasper."
Stella interrupted, her brows knitted.
She feigned tenderness as she looked at Bennett, "Kids take time to warm up to changes. It's alright if he calls us that for now."
If both of these little rascals started calling her 'Mom,' she couldn't handle it.
Jasper snorted but remained silent.
With their agendas, the family of four began their meal.
After eating, Stella pulled Jasper aside onto the couch, "We need to talk."
Hearing this, Bennett exchanged a knowing look with Lauren.
The two tots promptly gathered on either side and began playing with blocks on the carpet in front of the couch.
Stella silently rolled her eyes.
They were young, but they needed more cunning.
Crowding over to play with blocks here was clearly an eavesdropping tactic.
"What's up?"
Jasper's deep voice pulled her back from her thoughts.
She cleared her throat, "I've been thinking. Maybe we should let Adeline off the hook."
Jasper frowned but remained silent.
"I thought about it last night. Even though Adeline made mistakes in the past, she genuinely cared for the kids.
"At least, the sensibility of our children now is partially her doing.
"She's made amends. I don't want to pursue it anymore."
"Is this honestly how you feel?"
"Yes."
Stella reached out, taking Jasper's hand, "The kids are so fond of her, and I don't want to upset them over this.
"Besides, she is still the Design Director at Foster Group. Talent like hers is rare, and your company needs her.
"So I think we should give her another chance to mend her ways."
Her polite words even left Bennett and Lauren, who were sitting on the floor with their blocks, feeling a touch of admiration.
No wonder she had the guts to assume someone else's identity.
That acting skill was indeed impressive!
"Adeline, it makes me happy that you see it that way."
Jasper sighed and pulled her into a tight embrace, "You're still as kind as you've always been."
In his memory, Adeline was a kind and gentle woman.
The image of Stella choking Adeline, insisting that he deal with the situation swiftly, had surprised him.
He thought she had changed.
Now, hearing her speak like this, he finally felt at ease.
His Adeline hadn't changed at all.
"Call me Stella."
The woman reminded him softly, nestling in Jasper's arms, "I don't want to use that name anymore."
Jasper nodded, gently running his fingers through her hair, "Stella."
He held her close to his chest.
After a while, he sighed, "There's one more thing."
He looked down, his hand tenderly caressing her face, "What should we do about Molly?"
He had refrained from acting against Molly previously, simply keeping her confined, all for Adeline's return.
He wanted her decision spoken in her own words.
Now that she was back, it was her call to make.
Stella tensed slightly.
"That woman nearly killed Lauren and me more than once."
Bennett, playing with blocks, rolled his eyes. "Are we really going to let her go?"
"Of course not."
Stella's eyes narrowed and smirked. "But Jasper, she is still my dearest sister..."
Bennett and Lauren exchanged a glance.
This woman!
She actually wanted to spare Molly?
After everything they had done to bring Molly to justice, she was considering setting her free.
Jasper frowned at her, "What do you propose?"
"She tried to harm my two children; she's in the wrong. But she is my sister, the favorite daughter of our parents. If we really take action against her, I'm afraid they won't be able to handle it."
"Perhaps..." Stella let out a light chuckle. "We could buy her a one-way ticket and send her far away from us. Let her live overseas and never return."
She leaned gently into his embrace, "This way, she won't be able to hurt Bennett and Lauren ever again, and our parents won't be troubled by our decisions. It's a win-win."
"No way!"
Lauren's eyes instantly filled with tears, and she threw her blocks down, "I want her to face legal consequences! I won't let her off!"
Why should they spare such a bad person?
After she finished, her finger pointed accusingly at Stella, "Why are you speaking up for her?!
"Aren't you scared I'll tell Daddy?"
