Chapter 394 Why Are You Here?

"Jasper!" Adeline bit her lip and glared angrily at Jasper. She questioned him, "Do you not know where Ms. Bishop is and who she's taking care of right now?"

Adeline raised her eyes to glare at Jasper's face. "Where is Ms. Bishop now, and whom is she attending to—are you not aware?"

Jasper glanced at her and responded indifferently. "Of course, I know."

"I'll find a doctor for Blake similar to Ms. Bishop. Right now, Luna's health is more important."With that said, Jasper turned around with Luna in his arms. "Adeline, don't forget what you just said."

Adeline stood there, glaring at Jasper's back, her hands clenched into fists.

Jasper, always managed to lower her expectations! Every time she thought he couldn't get any worse, Jasper would do something even more outrageous and unbelievable, broadening her horizons in the worst way!

Blake was his son too! "Why, in his eyes, did a gravely ill son of his own flesh and blood matter less than a lover he's barely known for three days? she wondered in disbelief.

She couldn't make sense of it at all!

"Adeline." Lucia sighed, gently supporting Adeline, her voice filled with concern. "I always knew you had a seriously ill child."

"I hadn't expected the child to be Jasper's," Lucia admitted, "nor had I expected that Jasper, wealthy beyond measure, would be unwilling to spend money to treat his own son."

"Not only did he not care about his biological son's life," Lucia continued, "but he also wanted to take away his son's doctor for Luna."

Adeline nodded, her perception of Jasper completely changed.

Lucia's words brought Adeline back to her senses.

Adeline sighed, gently grasping Lucia's hand, and glanced at Robert, who had been silent all along. "Don't tell anyone," she said quietly.

It wasn't to save face for Jasper, but Adeline didn't want people to know how miserable and pitiful she, Blake, and Lauren were.

What she desired least in this lifetime was the pity of others.

Lucia bit her lip and looked at Robert. They both nodded solemnly.

After they promised to keep her secret, Adeline forced a bitter smile. "Sorry to make you witness this."With that, she led Robert and Lucia into the elevator.

"Adeline, do you think Luna did it on purpose?" In the elevator, Lucia frowned and finally couldn't help but speak, "When we were in the restaurant, I saw Hazel calling Luna to complain via video call."

Luna continued, "Luna must have known Hazel was having a conflict with us, but she still asked Mr. Foster to solve Hazel's problem.

"Luna didn't actually help Hazel, putting all the blame on her instead. She played the victim, to get rid of Hazel and also appear magnanimous."

Robert, who had been silent, adjusted his glasses and reminded, "Most importantly, she took away Adeline's son's exclusive doctor."

Lucia slapped her forehead as she came to a realization, "Right! She must have done it on purpose, just to make you angry!"

Adeline narrowed her eyes in contemplation and agreed, "Yes."

She had already thought of all this. None of it could be a coincidence. Luna must have considered this aspect when she gifted Hazel a dress worth five hundred dollars as if it were worth fifty thousand dollars. Otherwise, why would she have Jasper deal with the issue and then refuse to defend Hazel.

She clearly wanted to escalate the matter to Jasper, then righteously kick Hazel out while creating an image of herself as kind and gentle.

It just so happened that Hazel ran into them, giving Luna a better opportunity to play her hand. Luna was very cunning.

When they arrived at Anne's hospital room, Anne had already finished her meal.

Timothy was throwing away the empty takeout boxes in the hallway trash can when he saw Adeline, Lucia, and Robert getting off the elevator.

He frowned and looked at Adeline as he inquired, "I was just about to go find you. You're back so soon? Is everything resolved?"

Adeline composed herself and smiled at him. She informed, "It's resolved. Not only did we not have to pay, but Hazel also got fired."

Timothy raised his eyebrows in surprise.

After a moment, he sneered, "Jasper finally did something decent."

At his words, Lucia and Robert's faces turned a bit grim.

Adeline said, "You stay here and take care of Anne. The medical bills are on me. If anything comes up, call me anytime."

Timothy paused and nodded in understanding. He agreed, "Okay."

With that, Adeline went into the room to comfort Anne for a while before leaving with Lucia and Robert.

Back at the office, Adeline plunged into a new round of busyness.

She had already planned to speed up the progression of her work, and Jasper's attitude at the hospital fueled her determination.

The sooner she finished her work, the sooner she could complete the agreement and leave with Blake and Lauren.

With Anne and Timothy gone, Adeline was left with only Robert as her assistant, while Lucia enthusiastically came by to help.

They spent the entire afternoon in Adeline's office, repeatedly discussing and deliberating on the theme for the project.

Engrossed in work, the day swiftly turned to dusk.

As the end of the workday approached, Robert and Adeline showed no signs of stopping their work. Lucia sighed, stretched, and took their cups to refill their coffee.

As soon as Lucia stepped out, she ran into someone she hadn't seen in a long time.

"Mia?" Lucia called out to her.

"It's me," she replied. Outside the door, Mia smiled gently and glanced in the direction of Adeline's office. "Is Adeline in?"

Lucia quickly nodded. "Yes!"With that, she opened the office door. "Adeline, look who's coming!"

Adeline looked up and greeted, "What brings you here?"

She was a bit surprised. After Thomas was arrested yesterday, Mia had fainted and been hospitalized.

Although Adeline had later gone to find Jasper because of Jason's words, she had also inquired about Mia's condition.

The hospital had said that Mia's physical and mental health had both suffered, requiring dual intervention for at least two weeks.

Adeline had planned to visit Mia at the hospital today, but too many things had occurred. She had been so busy that she almost forgot she had intended to visit Mia.She hadn't expected Mia to come to her instead.

"I want to invite you to my engagement party," Mia said as she looked at Adeline. "Even though Thomas is in jail, I had already sent out the invitations and booked the venue. Canceling it would be a waste, so I decided to go ahead with it and have some fun. Besides, I have something important to announce."

Mia smiled at Adeline, then admitted, "This is my first time hosting such a large event by myself, and it's an engagement party without a groom. So I don't think I can handle it alone.

"In Radiance Springs, besides Tim and Tom, you're my only friend.

"Those two are men and clueless. I can't ask them for help. So I thought of you."
