Chapter 838 Still a Member of the Torres Family

Adeline froze in place.

She instinctively turned to look at Jasper.

He was lounging in his chair, exuding a lazy elegance, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Seeing her gaze, Jasper smirked, "Surprised?"

As he spoke, he picked up the coffee pot beside him and poured himself a cup, "Wondering why someone like me, a supposed criminal, would care about a doctor who can treat coma patients?"

Taking a sip of his coffee, he chuckled, "Or maybe you think I want to keep Zara in a coma forever."

Adeline bit her lip and glared at him, about to retort when Oscar, leaning against the headboard, sighed:

"Don't listen to his nonsense."

"He came to me because he tried to contact Dr. Ross over six months ago and even stayed at her research institute for a week. But Dr. Ross is eccentric and didn't pay any attention to him or his offers."

"Yesterday, Mr. Foster saved me, so he came to ask if I could help."

After Oscar finished speaking, Jasper shot him a cold glance but said nothing.

Adeline's eyes widened in shock.

She was stunned for three reasons: Jasper had sought out Clio over six months ago, Clio was someone Jasper couldn't persuade even after a week, and Sebastian was more capable than Jasper?

But after the initial shock, Adeline felt a surge of excitement.

Since Jasper had already tried to contact Clio, she could be sure that Sebastian wasn't being deceived.

With Jasper's global information network, if he believed Clio was a miracle worker, it had to be true!

Her mother's illness could really be cured!

Thinking of this, she excitedly turned to Oscar, "When are you going back to Everglade City?"

Adeline asked this, intending for Clio to take Zara and leave with Oscar.

But to Oscar and Jasper, her question had a different implication.

Leaning against the headboard, Oscar frowned at Adeline, "Are you planning to go back to Everglade City with me to find Dr. Ross?"

"It's possible, but I think your chances of convincing Dr. Ross to treat your mother are slim."

His words made Adeline laugh.

"Actually, Dr. Ross is currently at my place."

Her statement made the room fall silent.

After a long pause, Jasper frowned at Adeline, "Are you serious?"

How could that be?

Dr. Ross was notoriously difficult, unmoved by money, power, or even threats to demolish her research institute.

If Clio were that easy to persuade, Jasper wouldn't have Zara still lying in bed as a coma patient.

"Of course, it's true."

Adeline proudly lifted her chin, "Sebastian brought her over."

Jasper was silent for a moment.

Sebastian.

That artist with an aura of creativity might indeed be able to persuade someone like Clio.

"If Dr. Ross is at your place…"

Oscar frowned, "Then why did you ask when I'm going back to Everglade City?"

"Dr. Ross said she needs to take my mother to Everglade City, to her research institute, before she's willing to treat her."

Jasper narrowed his eyes, "So you want Oscar to take your mother back?"

Adeline nodded, "I think Mr. Wheeler's influence in Everglade City can protect my mom."

"But have you thought about the danger your mom might face traveling with Oscar from Oceancrest City to Everglade City?"

"Yesterday, Isaiah was killed. The Wheeler family's enemies won't think I did it; they'll blame the Wheeler family."

"They won't let it go, and the trip from Oceancrest City to Everglade City is the perfect chance to target Mr. Wheeler."

Adeline paused.

She hadn't considered that.

But if she didn't ask Oscar for help, she feared something might happen to her mom in Everglade City.

If Brandon and Daisy found out her mom's whereabouts, they'd definitely cause trouble.

Having her mom travel with Oscar could intimidate people in Everglade City, letting them know she was under the Wheeler family's protection.

Thinking of this, Adeline felt torn.

So she stepped out and contacted Oliver.

"This can be handled easily."

After coming to the room and understanding the situation, Oliver smirked at Jasper, "Everyone knows you saved Oscar yesterday."

"If you send people to escort Oscar, no one will suspect anything."

Jasper smirked and turned to Adeline, "What do you think?"

He had already thought of this.

But he wanted to know Adeline's opinion.

After all, she was eager to distance herself from him.

But this way, she'd owe him a favor.

Adeline didn't want to owe Jasper a favor.

But there was no better option.

So she took a deep breath and turned to him:

"Then I'll trouble Mr. Foster."

"As long as you don't mind the hassle."

With that, Jasper took out his phone and called David.

Soon, Zara, accompanied by two servants, followed Clio into Oscar's RV.

"They've arrived in Everglade City."

Three hours later, Adeline received Jasper's call.

Jasper was in his car, watching Oscar's vehicle enter Everglade City, while extending his arm for bandaging, "Safe journey."

Ryan glanced at Jasper's blood-stained arm and sighed.

He really only ever shared good news with her.

Enduring the pain of disinfectant and stitches, Jasper deliberately kept his tone light:

"Adeline, you owe me a favor."

"Have you thought about how to repay it?"

On the other end, Adeline bit her lip, "How about I treat you to dinner tonight?"

She didn't want to owe him for long.

Jasper was silent for a moment, then laughed softly, "Invite Sebastian."

Adeline nodded, "Don't worry, I won't dine with you alone."

"Understood."

Jasper was getting his wound stitched, sweat forming on his forehead, but he still smiled, "Afraid you might lose control and end up staying at my place again?"

His words made Adeline's face flush.

She bit her lip, "I was out of it last night!"

"It won't happen again, and I won't stay at your place!"

Jasper, in a good mood, smirked, "Staying at your place isn't out of the question."

Adeline angrily hung up.

On the other end, Jasper's wound was finally bandaged.

He leaned back in his seat, breathing heavily, "Did you find out?"

Ryan nodded, "It's still the Torres family."
