Chapter 891 Did Daisy Also Have a Daughter?
When Adeline and Sebastian rushed into Linda's hospital room, they found her lying on the bed, pale as a ghost, with David standing coldly beside her.
"David, I will never forgive you for this... not in this lifetime..."
Linda glared at David with all the strength she could muster, her body weak but her words defiant.
"David!"
Adeline stormed in, grabbing David's arm.
"Linda has sacrificed so much for you. What more do you want from her?"
Her angry voice made David squint slightly, and he coldly shook off Adeline's hand.
Linda lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, tears streaming down her face as she laughed bitterly.
"Don't blame him. It's my own fault."
Linda's eyes were filled with deep despair as she looked at the ceiling.
"I was blind, falling for one jerk after another."
"So now I've come to my senses and want to leave. Is that too much to ask?"
She sniffled, tears silently falling.
"David, as long as you don't kill me, I will escape. I will leave you eventually!"
David, standing at the door, let out a cold laugh, his lips curling into a bloodthirsty smile.
"Try it. See if you get the chance."
He glanced coldly at Linda's slender, frail legs.
"Don't push me."
Adeline furrowed her brows and glared at David.
"Shut up! Do you feel proud hurting someone you love?"
Adeline knew how much David loved Linda.
Back in Neon City, even though Linda was pregnant from being raped by several men, David insisted on keeping the baby for Linda's health.
Linda used to mean so much to him.
How did their relationship come to this?
David sneered at Adeline's reprimand.
"What right do you have to lecture me?"
"Aren't you always hurting Jasper?"
David wiped the blood from his lip where Linda had bitten him, "Do you feel proud hurting someone you love?"
His words made Adeline furrow her brows tightly.
She helped Linda lie down properly on the bed and coldly replied.
"When did I ever say I still liked Jasper?"
"I haven't hurt him, and I stopped liking him a long time ago!"
Her words brought a sudden silence to the room.
Linda, lying down with Adeline's help, lifted her head and saw the man standing at the door with a dark expression.
"Jasper..."
Adeline furrowed her brows and instinctively turned around.
At the door stood a tall man dressed in black, staring coldly.
Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
She instinctively turned her face away, avoiding Jasper's gaze.
But then she thought, why should she be afraid?
She didn't like Jasper anymore. Was that not allowed?
Jasper seemed to ignore Adeline and David's conversation entirely, turning to David.
"What's the situation?"
David glared at him, "I'm not a doctor. Why ask me?"
With that, he walked out.
Jasper furrowed his brows, glanced at Adeline and Linda in the room, and patted Sebastian and Ryan on the shoulder, signaling them to leave as well.
Linda probably just wanted to talk to Adeline alone.
Sebastian understood and closed the door behind him as he left.
"Adeline..."
Once the men's footsteps faded down the hallway, Linda finally let down her guard, collapsing into Adeline's arms and sobbing uncontrollably.
Adeline didn't know what had happened between Linda and David. She didn't want to ask, just quietly held Linda, letting her cry her heart out.
Linda's sobs filled the room. Adeline held her, comforting her, and shed tears herself. She had been holding back her own pain for so long. Facing a Jasper who no longer loved her, a strange work environment, and a job she had no idea how to handle.
She thought Tamsin was genuinely there to help her, to be her right-hand woman. But in the end? Tamsin just used her to get close to Oliver, not caring about the consequences after the contract was fulfilled.
Adeline had heard Oliver's words clearly. She was just a pawn for Tamsin. But without Tamsin, how could she stand up to Jasper? She couldn't manage the Phoebe Group on her own.
But she was Howard and Zara's daughter. Given Howard and Zara's current state, she couldn't abandon the Phoebe Group.
The two women cried together for a long time. After venting, they had to face reality. Adeline wiped Linda's tears and asked what had happened.
Linda sobbed, "David killed my fiancé."
Adeline's eyes widened in disbelief. "Why?"
Adeline had always known Linda had a fiancé. Back then, David lived on the edge, fearing he might die any day, leaving Linda alone, so he resisted being with her. Linda, in turn, got engaged to another man out of spite.
Her engagement was a simple ceremony, with no guests, just to anger David. Linda had said her fiancé was someone she hired with her savings, and they had little emotional connection. Adeline couldn't understand why David would kill Linda's hired fiancé.
Linda closed her eyes and laughed bitterly, "I want to know too."
"After David killed my fiancé, I felt guilty and wanted to see him. But David locked me up, not allowing me to leave the villa."
She sniffled, her eyes red, "David is a monster."
She turned to Adeline, "I used to not understand why you couldn't reconcile with Jasper. Now I finally get it."
She couldn't forgive David for killing her fiancé, couldn't reconcile with him. Thinking of this, Linda held Adeline's hand.
"You and Jasper have Esther, Wilford, Mrs. Foster, and your lost child between you—four lives. I'll never urge you to reconcile with Jasper again."
Her words made Adeline's eyes darken.
"Actually..." She lowered her head and laughed bitterly, "My child with Jasper isn't dead."
Linda froze, "Your child... isn't dead?"
Adeline sniffled and laughed bitterly, "Yes. Jasper suspected the child I gave birth to wasn't his, so he took the child's body for a DNA test. The test showed the child wasn't his. If the child wasn't his, it couldn't have been the one I gave birth to."
She lowered her head, "I don't know where my real child is."
Linda furrowed her brows, suddenly remembering something, "Adeline, did Daisy also give birth to a daughter the day you had your child?"
