Chapter 36 Jasper's Attitude
"Yes." Ryan nodded. "You and Miss Collins have been together for so many years, yet you've never bought her any clothes. But today, you went and picked out two outfits for Adeline. In the past, no one dared to defy you, and any servant who dared to challenge you in the villa was fired. But Adeline has defied you so many times, and yet you haven't gotten angry or fired her. And..."
"Enough!" Jasper pressed his thin lips coldly, interrupting Ryan's next words. "I will pay attention to keeping my distance from her in the future."
After saying that, he closed his eyes and leaned against the leather seat. "Ryan, this is the first time you've made a mistake. I'll forgive you this time, but don't let it happen again."
Ryan was overwhelmed with joy. "So, would you pursue it?"
He was referring to Molly.
Jasper's lips curled up in a cold, indifferent smile. "I have my own plans."
The report on the Ferris wheel incident had not come out yet, so he couldn't determine whether or not Lauren's encounter on the Ferris wheel was related to Molly. But the events of today wouldn't be left unresolved.
"But..." Ryan wanted to say something, but the man in the backseat woke up abruptly.
The air inside the car suddenly became heavy.
Ryan quickly shut his mouth and started the car silently.
At Blue Bay
Adeline was feeling down.
Even Lauren could tell that she was in a bad mood.
"Mummy, please make some dessert. Eating dessert will make you feel better!"
Sitting in the living room, Lauren held a stuffed toy in her arms, blinking her clear eyes and cautiously speaking to Adeline.
With a faint sigh, Adeline raised her hand and gently ruffled the little girl's head. "I'll make it for you now."
After saying that, she got up and went to the kitchen, busying herself with making dessert.
Being busy can drive away emotions.
Lauren leaned on the sofa and watched Adeline work while sending messages to her two brothers.
Lauren: Mommy is in a bad mood. What happened to her?
Bennett: It might be Blake.
Lauren: Why?
Bennett: Because Blake was responsible for the online attacks. He used a program to spread negative comments about mommy!
Lauren: Blake is so mean!
Lauren: Blake, don't be sad. Leave it to me. I'll make mommy happy again!
After sending this message, Lauren put away her phone and started her plan to make Adeline laugh.
But the thoughts of adults are truly elusive.
Although Lauren thought she had made mommy laugh, the smile on her face always seemed faint, and there was a sense of resignation in her eyes.
Until bedtime, Lauren couldn't truly lift Adeline's spirits.
The little girl fell asleep with regret.
After settling Lauren, Adeline received a message.
A message from Blake.
The message consisted of only two words: I'm sorry.
As Adeline looked at these words, she fell into silence.
She knew that Blake had sent her this message because he believed he had caused the online attacks and spread many unkind photos and words about her.
But he had nothing to apologize for in this matter.
After all, Blake only wanted to hasten the rift between Adeline and Jasper.
However, neither she nor Blake, nor even Bennett, could have expected that Jasper's protection of Molly had reached a point of losing all sense of right and wrong.
Adeline let out a long sigh, raised her hand, and replied to Blake: I don't blame you. Take good care of yourself.
In fact, this was the first message Blake had initiated with her since Adeline returned to the country.
Although they had messaged on the Ferris wheel last time, it wasn't enough.
He also took the initiative to contact her through Lauren's necklace, but it was urgent and he had no choice.
Blake disagreed with her decision to return to her country.
Because of this, the little guy started a cold war with her.
"Mummy, don't go back, okay?"
"We will find a better solution. We don't have to rely on that man."
"I don't want you to go back to him, let alone have another child for him because of me."
"If it has to be that way, I would rather die than see you suffer for me, mommy."
"Stay away from that man, okay?"
"I would rather die than see you being tormented by that man in the last moments of your life. I don't want to see you in pain."
When leaving, every word Blake said to her echoed in her mind.
Adeline closed her eyes in agony.
Perhaps it was because her body was too weak when she was pregnant.
Among the three children she gave birth to, Lauren has been frail and sickly since childhood, and at the age of five, Blake was diagnosed with leukemia.
Bennett's bone marrow was not a match for Blake's, and Lauren's frequent medication for her poor health had affected her bone marrow.
Brandon searched every bone marrow registry available, but he couldn't find a successful match for Blake.
In the end, seeking Jasper's help became Adeline's last resort.
"I will take good care of myself."
Not long after, Blake's message came again: Mommy, you have to take care of Bennett and Lauren too. Most importantly, take care of yourself. If it's too hard, come back. My illness can also be left untreated.
Blake's words made Adeline want to cry.
It had been over a week since she returned to her country.
She thought she had caused a rift between Jasper and Molly, but today's events hit her hard.
No matter what, Molly was irreplaceable and indispensable in Jasper's eyes.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have fabricated evidence to protect Molly, even with undeniable proof.
It seemed difficult to make him abandon Molly and be with her.
Just like six years ago, she couldn't make him love her.
Finally, she lay in bed, looking at Blake's messages. She couldn't help but cry.
She was not a good mother.
If she had taken better care of herself back then, her kids would have been healthier.
While crying, she messaged Blake to take care of himself.
After a while, she finally managed to stop her tears.
She had cried for too long and felt thirsty.
She went downstairs to get some water.
It was dark.
Guided by the faint glow of the wall lamp, Adeline made her way downstairs. The living room downstairs carried the faint smell of cigarettes, with sporadic flickering flames. Adeline frowned, still uncertain about what was going on. Suddenly, the lights in the living room snapped on.
In the room, a leisurely and dignified man sat on the sofa, smoking. With the room illuminated, he glanced in her direction and saw her swollen, red eyes.
"Have you been crying?"
