Chapter 427 Keep Your Distance from Jasper in the Future

When Adeline rolled back into the hospital room with the ice cream, Blake was already out cold.

Blake, being the smart little dude he was, tucked himself in early so Adeline wouldn't stress and knocked out.

Adeline plopped the ice cream in front of Lauren, unwrapped one, and handed it over.

Lauren piped up, "Mommy, Ms. Bishop said she needs to chat with you."

Lauren, munching on her ice cream, added, "She wants you to see her when you get back. It's about Blake's surgery tomorrow."

Hearing it was about Blake, Adeline didn't waste a second. She bolted out of the room and headed to Freya's office.

But Freya was MIA.

An intern in the office told Adeline to chill. "A patient just came in, and Ms. Bishop went to check on them. Hang tight for a bit."

Adeline nodded, plopped down in a chair, and started texting Mia and Violet while she waited.

She figured Freya would be back soon, but nope, she ended up waiting for over half an hour.

Finally, she got fed up. After asking around about where Freya went, Adeline grabbed her phone and went to find her.

What she didn't expect was that Freya had gone to Luna's ward.

When she knocked and walked in, she saw Freya grinning while checking on Luna, who was lounging on the bed.

Luna was chilling against the headboard, one hand being checked by Freya, the other holding Jasper's hand.

"Ms. Bishop." Adeline knocked and was about to speak when she saw the scene.

Adeline first felt shock, then got it, and finally felt a bit of disdain.

She almost forgot that Jasper had once moved Ms. Bishop to Emerald Crest Estate to be Luna's personal doc.

Now that Luna was sick, it made sense for Ms. Bishop to be the one checking on her.

But seeing Luna's smug look and Jasper by her side, Adeline couldn't help but snicker.

Adeline's voice made everyone in the room look up at the same time.

Ms. Bishop paused, glanced at Adeline, and smiled apologetically. "Adeline, sorry about that. I thought I'd be quick, but I made you wait so long you had to come find me. Actually, it's nothing major."

Ms. Bishop turned to look at Jasper before turning back to Adeline with a smile. "It's about the medical fees. Mr. Foster had actually prepaid Blake's surgery fees at the hospital, but because he was in a coma and the staff on duty that day messed up, it wasn't recorded. I wanted to return the medical fees you paid today."

Adeline frowned.

She knew Freya was full of it.

First, in such a big hospital, the staff couldn't mess up something so basic.

Second, even if the staff were careless, they wouldn't forget to record it when they saw Jasper was the payer.

The reason Ms. Bishop said this was obviously because of Jasper's plan. Jasper wanted her to return the money she borrowed from Mia and use his cash for Blake's surgery.

After all, the deal she signed with him clearly said the agreement would only be valid if he covered Blake's surgery fees.

Jasper had just woken up and wanted her to return the money she borrowed from Mia, making his intentions clear.

He still wasn't ready to let her go that easy, didn't want her to just waltz out of Radiance Springs without a hitch.

But why was Jasper so bent on keeping her around?

She knew it wasn't because of what Jason said about Jasper caring for her.

Adeline squinted, eyeing Jasper leaning against the bed, a hint of sarcasm in her gaze.

The real deal was probably that he wanted her to stick around the Foster Group and keep taking Luna’s crap, right?

Jasper was still as cold and heartless as ever.

To keep Luna happy, he didn't mind throwing tons of money and resources to mess with his ex-wife. Even though she had taken care of him for three days and nights while he was in a coma.

Adeline said, "Alright, I get it."

She took a deep breath, shot Jasper a cold look, then turned to Freya with a smile. "It's late; I should head back and rest. I'll come by tomorrow to sort out the refund."

With that, Adeline turned to leave.

"Wait." She had just taken two steps when Luna's sweet, gentle voice called out from behind.

Luna pursed her lips, her tone light and soft. "Ms. Wilson, I have something to say to you."

Adeline frowned. She really didn't want to deal with Luna.

But she was wary of Jasper, knowing he'd do anything to keep Luna happy..

Blake's surgery was tomorrow, and she didn't want any drama.

Thinking of this, Adeline turned with a smile to look at Luna. "Ms. Jones, what’s up?"

Luna said, "I want to thank you."

Even though Luna's words were polite, she still lounged lazily and nobly against the headboard.

She looked at Adeline with a faint gaze, like a queen looking at a servant. "I haven't been feeling well these past few days, and even getting out of bed has been tough, so I haven't been able to come to the hospital to take care of Jasper. I heard you've been looking after him these past three days."

Luna lowered her head, her eyes welling up with tears. "I'm really grateful for what you've done for me and Jasper."

Saying this, she looked up, sniffed, and stared seriously at Adeline's face. "But Ms. Wilson, you are Jasper's ex-wife after all. Even though I know Jasper doesn't have feelings for you anymore, and you don't really like him either, seeing you two together still makes me uncomfortable."

She pulled out a tissue, gently wiped her tears, her eyes red. "Can I ask you to keep your distance from Jasper in the future? It would be better for all three of us."

After saying that, she bit her lip, her big eyes filled with innocence as she turned to look at Jasper. "Jasper, is my request too much?"

Jasper squinted, holding her hand lightly. "Not at all."

Looking at the lovey-dovey couple in front of her, Adeline laughed.

Adeline taunted, "I should really thank Ms. Jones. Because of your negligence, I came here and saw this heartwarming scene."

Adeline's words made Luna's face turn slightly pale.

Luna bit her lip, looking at Adeline with a hurt expression. "I was just expressing my thoughts, not trying to show off or flaunt in front of you."

Adeline turned her gaze to Luna, her eyes cold. "I know, but Ms. Jones, asking me to keep my distance from Mr. Foster is really too much for me."
