Chapter 388 Like

Luna's words made Adeline's eyes narrow slightly, while Lucia, standing nearby, secretly made a vomiting gesture toward her.

At first, Lucia perceived Ms. Jones as a simple and gentle girl.

But in the morning, in the office, when colleagues were gossiping about Adeline and Jasper's relationship, Lucia witnessed something that changed her perspective.

Now wasn't Luna  just trying to disgust Adeline?

Seeing Jasper remain silent, a trace of coldness flashed in Luna's eyes. She sighed and continued to wallow in self-pity, "Jasper, I actually think I'm not good enough for you. Only someone like Miss Wilson deserves to stand by your side, right? Compared to Ms.Wilson, I'm nothing."

Seeing her voice start to weaken again, Jasper frowned slightly.

The doctor had just warned that Luna had experienced a recent episode and needed to maintain emotional stability to avoid hospitalization.

So Jasper sighed and gently comforted her, "Luna, you don't need to belittle yourself. You have your own merits."

Luna bit her lip, her eyes filled with grievance and innocence.Jasper continued, "You don't need to compare yourself to anyone. To me, you are the best."After Jasper finished speaking, he glanced at the elevator. "We're here."

Luna nodded weakly. "Okay."

"Fuck!" After they left, Lucia couldn't help but curse, "Adeline, she did it on purpose!"

She deliberately implied that Adeline and Jasper were a better match, that she wasn't as good as Adeline.

Wasn't her real goal to get Jasper to say that she was better than Adeline? She's really scheming!

Luckily, Jasper had some sense and didn't say such things in front of Adeline.

"I know." Adeline looked up, indifferently watching the floor indicator on the elevator. "They just went to the eighth floor, right?"

Lucia paused and quickly nodded. "Yes. Fortunately, they got off on the eighth floor! Had they been headed to the upper floors like us and remained in the same elevator, I might have truly confronted Luna."

Adeline raised an eyebrow at her curiously. "Aren't you afraid of losing your job?" she teased.

Lucia pouted. "If I weren't afraid of losing my job, I would have snapped at her just now. Luna is currently basking in favor and acting arrogantly; I wouldn't provoke her."

Adeline nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

For Luna, Jasper even said he would fire her three assistants. It showed how important Luna was to him.

Thinking this, Adeline looked up at the floor indicator.

The eighth floor was the hematology and laboratory departments.

Luna was just emotionally unstable, so why did they head to the hematology department?

Could she have leukemia like Blake?

Just as she was thinking this, the elevator dinged, pulling Adeline back to reality.

She took a deep breath and got off the elevator with Lucia, heading to Anne's hospital room.

In the room, Anne was lying on the bed with her shirt off, receiving treatment from the doctor.

Robert and Timothy stood guard outside the door.

Seeing Lucia and Adeline arrive, Robert and Timothy quickly approached them.

Timothy said, "Why are you two here? Where's Luna? Isn't she coming to apologize?"

Robert said, "Adeline, how are we going to resolve this?"

Facing Robert and Timothy's eager looks, Adeline felt a surge of guilt.

Anne, Robert, and Timothy were all her assistants, tirelessly working for her at the Foster Group..

They had been wronged and Anne was hurt, but she couldn't even get Luna to apologize to Anne.

Seeing Adeline's face darken, Robert understood. He sighed in disappointment. "It's okay. After all, she's Mr. Foster's girlfriend now. It's understandable that Jasper would protect her."

Timothy cursed, " If we were back in my hometown abroad, I would have killed her! She's too despicable!"

Adeline paused. Before she could speak, Lucia frowned and pushed Timothy hard on the shoulder. as she scolded,"What nonsense are you spouting? If you hadn't said you wanted to get rid of Luna, would Anne have been hurt like this? Young people should keep quiet if they don't have anything better to say!"

Timothy was stunned, then anger surged within him. "Can't I even say it?Adeline is being treated like this by Jasper, and I can't stand up for her? I was just trying to help her, and now I'm wrong?" he complained.

Lucia glared at him. She retorted, "Does Adeline need you to stand up for her?

"Do you know what her situation is like now? If she offends Luna and gets fired, will you pay for her son's medical bills?"

Lucia and Timothy's argument gave Adeline a headache.

"Enough," Adeline scolded, frowning as she separated Lucia and Timothy. "Don't argue in the hospital."

She gave a self-deprecating smile. "You're both right. This matter is primarily my fault. Had it not been for my dire financial need compelling me to return to work, none of this would have occurred."

With that said, Adeline turned to Timothy."But I don't need you to stand up for me. If you find it too difficult to be my assistant, I'll pay for your ticket home. Just go back."

Adeline pushed open the door to the hospital room and walked in.

Timothy stood at the door, watching her back, at a loss for words.

For some reason, he felt that Adeline's figure was lonely and desolate as she entered the room.Lucia glared at him and quickly followed Adeline.

In the hospital room, the doctor was still treating Anne.Hearing the door open, Anne turned her head.

Seeing Adeline, she forced a smile. Trying to comfort her, "Adeline, why are you here? This little injury is nothing."

Adeline looked at Anne's blistered back with a pained expression. "I'll give you half a month's paid leave to rest and recover at home."

Anne's eyebrows instantly furrowed. She adamantly refused, "No way. Aren't you about to start a big project? You need me now. How can I take such a long leave? Even though I'm burned, it's on my back; it doesn't affect my work."

Her understanding made Adeline feel even more guilty.

Adeline gently held Anne's hand and said with a heavy heart, "Half a month won't make much difference. Besides, my son needs surgery during this time, so I also can't fully focus on work. We'll officially start after half a month. You should rest and recover first."

Hearing this, Anne bit her lip in frustration. "Is it really okay for me to take such a long leave?" she asked.

"Of course." Adeline sighed, about to say more, when the doctor treating Anne frowned and looked at Adeline and Lucia. "Anne hasn't eaten since morning. It's already noon. If you really care about her, go get her something to eat."

Having said that, the doctor sighed, "Those two outside are content with admiration but don't know how to take action."

Adeline and Lucia exchanged glances and then laughed.

Robert and Timothy liked Anne but didn't get her lunch even though it was already noon?

Adeline and Lucia gave Anne a teasing look, "Should we tell them to go get it?"

Anne quickly shook her head.

Since Adeline and Lucia hadn't eaten either, they decided to go out together, asking Timothy and Robert to get lunch with them and bring some back for Anne.

Because of the argument with Lucia and being scolded by Adeline, Timothy was in low spirits the whole way.

Entering the restaurant, he was so distracted that Timothy bumped into Hazel, spilling soup all over her.

"Watch where you're going!" Hazel grabbed Timothy's collar. "You owe me money! This outfit I'm wearing was a gift from Ms. Jones! It's worth five thousand dollars! Pay up!"

Hearing Hazel mention Luna, Adeline frowned and looked over. This woman, she had seen her before. She was with Luna at the mall trying on clothes, probably Luna's servant?
