Chapter 51 The Genuine Piece I Made with My Own Hands
"Grandma, you're the best!" Molly excitedly handed the box to Grandma Foster. "Look, Grandma, this was personally designed and made by the famous jewelry master. It's the same style as the necklace you're wearing. Look, isn't it beautiful? It's really stunning."
Grandma Foster held the necklace in her hands.
Unexpectedly, the words of that maid echoed in her ears: "That fake necklace around your neck probably isn't worth a million dollars, right?"
Grandma Foster furrowed her brows, feeling uneasy as she looked at Molly. "Molly, is this necklace fake?"
That jewelry master, Master Y, was a renowned jewelry designer who had gained international fame in recent years. Her reputation and status were second only to the well-known designer Moon. However, she suddenly withdrew from the industry, and her works became limited edition, raising their prices from around a hundred thousand to nearly ten million dollars.
Grandma Foster had also read the news and heard about it, which is why she wrote a million-dollar check for Adeline at Molly's request.
But Adeline's words felt like a grain of sand in her eye, making her uncomfortable every time she thought about them.
Could this necklace...actually be fake?
Even if Molly was generous, she was just a minor figure in the entertainment industry. Could she really gift her something worth millions of dollars?
Sensing Grandma Foster's hesitation, Molly cleared her throat and smiled. "Grandma, you must be joking. How could this necklace be fake? I went through so much trouble to have someone snatch it at the auction."
"Moreover," Molly continued to please her, "you have seen many treasures. Are you not able to identify a real diamond? It's real. I care about you. That's why I wanted to give you the best!"
Molly's attitude was sincere, and her gaze was genuine.
Grandma Foster hesitated and furrowed her brows. She couldn't really distinguish between real and fake gemstones.
It was just Adeline's words that made her feel uncomfortable.
She didn't necessarily believe Adeline, but Molly gifting her something so valuable was hard to believe, especially since Molly would usually gift her inexpensive things.
But what if it was real?
Thinking about all this, the old woman smiled.
"I'm just asking you, not doubting you."
Molly breathed a sigh of relief. "Hmm! Grandma, don't worry. I will prepare an even better gift for you on your birthday! I'm also having someone check out the master's most precious jewelry. I should be able to get it soon!"
Grandma Foster no longer harbored any suspicions. "You're going through all this trouble for me."
"Grandma, we're family now."
After leaving the Foster family mansion, Molly immediately took out her phone. "Grandma Foster is getting suspicious. We can't use fake ones anymore, especially not for her birthday. Please help me find a real one."
"Are you serious?" The woman on the other end of the line sighed impatiently. "She's 80 years old. Can she really tell the difference? Besides, Master Y's pieces are so expensive. One necklace is worth two of your houses. Are you really going to buy it?"
Molly bit her lip.
Although she had greatly benefited from being Jasper's fiancée over the years and had some fame in the entertainment industry, several million dollars for jewelry was still too extravagant for her.
Especially as a gift for an eighty-year-old woman.
But Grandma Foster was her last hope.
Gritting her teeth, Molly stomped her foot. "Please help me find one."
"No need to search." The woman on the phone sighed. "Master Y's works were never plentiful to begin with. We bought all the counterfeits from the ones without owners, and now only the ones with owners remain. I heard a few days ago that Torres Group's president, Brandon, has a set. I'll ask him for you."
"Alright."
Blue Bay
It rained all night, and the temperature dropped in the morning. So Adeline spent the whole morning replacing the clothes in the dressing room for Lauren. She also washed and packed away the summer clothes.
Although the little girl hadn't been with Jasper for long, in less than a month, she had more new clothes than she had in a year with her.
After finishing her work, Adeline was so exhausted that she could barely stand up straight.
She pounded her lower back with her hand and lay down on the bed to rest when her phone rang.
It was a call from Brandon.
"Do you remember that you left a lot of things with me before going abroad?"
Adeline furrowed her brows and nodded. "I remember."
"There was a jewelry set among them called 'Counting Stars.'"
"Today, someone came to inquire about buying it. The price they offered wasn't high, but they mentioned their identity. They said it was for the future madam of the Foster Group. She wants to buy it as a birthday gift for Grandma Foster. So I want to ask for your opinion."
Adeline smiled faintly and recalled what she saw yesterday—Grandma Foster and her necklace.
She knew that Grandma Foster would be suspicious, so she deliberately said all that.
Now Molly finally felt that she couldn't fool her anymore. Should she buy the real one?
Adeline smiled and said, "Brandon, do you know the origin of this jewelry? Do you think we should sell it to her?"
"I don't mind." Brandon chuckled lightly. "However, it seems that they are not willing to pay the full price either. They proposed an interesting solution. They are willing to offer two million dollars and have me publicly announce that the Counting Stars set has been sold by me at a high price. This way, they can easily pass off their fake as genuine."
Adeline paused.
This was actually a good plan.
As long as Brandon publicly claimed that it had been sold, Molly would have room to lie.
And the jewelry that Molly gave to Grandma Foster was meant to help her resolve her situation with Jasper. Once Molly and Jasper were actually married, whether the jewelry was real or fake wouldn't matter much.
Molly was still the same as before. Whenever she encountered a difficult situation, she could always come up with a brilliant idea through reverse thinking.
After a long time, Adeline sat up, looked at the lush trees outside the window, and smiled. "Sell it to her. Also, send me a package."
Brandon understood instantly. "Do you want me to send you the genuine Counting Stars?"
"Of course not." She smiled faintly. "The genuine one is also made by me. There's no need to go through the trouble. Just send me some raw materials."
