Chapter 295 I Won't Make This Recording Public
Adeline sat in her cubicle, frowning. She put up with Aurora because she was Sebastian's mom, but the more she tolerated, the worse Aurora got. Rumors even started about Adeline having affairs with Tim and Tom. And Aurora kept talking about "Mrs. Foster," clearly influenced by Stella.
"How could she be good enough for our Sebastian?" Aurora's voice echoed outside. "I'm taking Sebastian for a checkup tomorrow. Who knows, he might be sick..."
Before she could finish, the cubicle door opened. Aurora turned, phone in hand, to see Adeline, calm and dressed in white, stepping out of the restroom. Caught gossiping, Aurora was stunned.
Adeline walked over, pulled out a voice recorder, and pressed record. "Mrs. Carter, please continue," she said, leaning against the sink. "Go ahead."
Aurora froze, squinting. "I'm just speaking the truth."
"Truth or not, we can find out in court," Adeline replied coldly. "Since it's the truth, why stop?"
Aurora hung up and glared. "Aren't you afraid your dirty secrets will come out?"
Adeline laughed. "What secrets? Enlighten me. Or were you just slandering me?"
"I'm curious, how did someone like you raise such a great son like Sebastian? Was he not around you growing up? That must've been his good luck."
Adeline's words, though curse-free, made Aurora's chest heave with anger. "How dare you! Say that again!"
Adeline laughed. "Or what?"
Aurora, unable to hold back, put away her phone, trying to slap Adeline. "Eat it! Bitch, I'd have hit you this morning if Mr. Foster hadn't stopped me!"
As Aurora reached out, Adeline grabbed her wrist. Aurora tried to press her hand down on Adeline's face, but Adeline's strength overpowered her.
"Do you really think you could've hit me this morning?" Adeline said, flinging Aurora's hand away. Aurora stumbled, hitting the faucet and drenching her face with cold water.
"Mrs. Carter," Adeline said, stopping the recorder. "I've recorded everything. Out of respect for you being Sebastian's mom, I won't make it public. But if you slander me again, I'll sue you for defamation and release this audio for everyone to hear."
"Let everyone know how Sebastian's mom, Mrs. Carter of the Carter Group, spreads rumors behind people's backs," Adeline said, then walked away.
Aurora was livid, her eyes blazing. As the mother of a famous artist and the wife of the Carter Group's president, she was used to luxury and authority, not being humiliated like this. And now, Adeline had the nerve to threaten her!
She bit her lip, recalling Stella's words. "Adeline injured her right shoulder with a utility knife. It was a small wound, but she pretended to be seriously ill to get my husband to stay with her. He values her as a designer too much, so he kept taking her to the hospital and staying with her all night. It's her strategy to seduce people."
Aurora squinted at Adeline's right shoulder. Even though Adeline wore a jacket, she knew the bulge was a bandage. She quickly stepped forward to grab Adeline in the hallway.
"What are you doing, madam?" Before Aurora could touch Adeline's shoulder, another hand grabbed hers. It was Timothy, one of Adeline's new assistants.
He sneered and flung Aurora's hand away. "Adeline's shoulder is injured. Don't touch it, or I'll make you leave."
Realizing what Aurora was trying to do, Adeline turned around, her lips curling coldly. "Mrs. Carter, just leave me alone."
Aurora glared at Adeline, then eyed Timothy, who looked about seventeen or eighteen. "Oh, I see, another young lover," she said, then stormed off.
Adeline frowned, then turned to Timothy. "Why are you here?"
"Adeline, you've been gone a while. Ava and I were worried, so we came to check on you."
Adeline noticed Ava, another new assistant, standing behind Timothy. Timothy was so tall he almost blocked Ava completely.
Seeing Timothy mention her, Ava timidly greeted Adeline with her phone in hand. "Adeline."
"Hello," Adeline said, taking a deep breath. "Let's go back."
"Okay," Timothy agreed, then turned to Ava and whispered, "No matter what you heard, don't talk about it. Got it?"
Ava nodded and followed Timothy. Her phone buzzed with messages from the company group.
[No way!? Did Adeline really sleep with the security guard?]
[And Mr. Foster's assistant Ryan?]
[Oh my God, I thought the rumors about Adeline and Mr. Foster were baseless]
[Ava, are you sure this is all true?]
Holding her phone, Ava cautiously replied:[It's true.]
[Adeline's boyfriend's mom said it herself.]
[I have recordings and photos.]
