Chapter 255 I Want to See Him
When Jasper received Adeline's call, he was looking at the sketches Lauren had recently drawn.
He had to admit that Lauren was talented.
But talent alone wasn't enough. Without the guidance of a good teacher like Adeline, she wouldn't have been able to produce such remarkable designs at only six years old.
However, even though Lauren's designs were beautiful, they lacked a certain depth compared to Adeline's.
When the phone rang, Jasper glanced at the name on the screen and answered in a good mood, "Is the meeting over? Lauren said..."
"Mr. Foster." Adeline's voice on the other end was extremely serious. "Please come to the design department immediately."
Her tone made Jasper furrow his brows.
Lowering his voice, Jasper asked, "What's wrong?"
"Something serious." Adeline let out a sigh. "My initial design draft is suspected of plagiarism."
Jasper's body tensed.
After a moment, he shut down his computer. "I'm coming now."
Ending the call, Jasper headed downstairs.
In the meeting room of the design department downstairs, it was bustling with noise.
As Jasper entered, Stella came forward to him immediately.
Stella took Jasper's hand, resting her head against his chest. "Jasper, you're here."
Jasper subtly furrowed his brows, then turned to Adeline. "What's going on?"
Adeline took a deep breath and explained to him the similarity between her initial design draft and Brian's. "The current issue is that the sketches I worked overtime on for half a month are likely to be plagiarism."
Jasper scoffed, "How is that possible?"
Jasper had seen Adeline's design sketches before. From the initial lines to the later drafts, he had not only seen them but also given her feedback.
Did this designer named Brian really have the ability to produce something so similar to Adeline's sketches?
"I also find it impossible, which is why I've asked you to come and oversee this matter." Adeline took a deep breath and turned to her assistant, Anne. "Go fetch my laptop from my office."
Anne nodded and hurried out.
A few minutes later, Adeline's laptop was placed on the meeting room table.
Adeline said, "I mentioned earlier that I discreetly installed a few hidden cameras in my office."
"The initial draft of this designer, Brian, is almost identical to mine. I believe he copied it."
"If it's a copy, then he must have taken pictures of it."
"I want to see..." With that, Adeline coldly glanced at Stella, then at Scarlett. "Who went into my office and took pictures of my sketches?"
Adeline directly played the surveillance footage from those hidden cameras.
Blake had prepared these cameras for her to prevent such situations.
Initially, Adeline thought Blake was being overly cautious. It was Jasper's company; no one would dare to act so recklessly.
But now, she was grateful for Blake's attention to detail.
Adeline fast-forwarded the surveillance footage through the past few days until a suspicious figure, a middle-aged man, appeared.
During the lunch break, when everyone was resting, he sneaked into Adeline's office, found her sketches, and meticulously photographed each one of them with his phone.
However, the camera never captured his face.
The entire office was eerily silent; you could hear a pin drop.
Everyone was focused on the computer screen, trying to get a clear view of the man's face.
Why him?
Adeline sat stiffly in her chair as if frozen.
She didn't need to scrutinize the surveillance like the others; the moment the middle-aged man appeared, she knew his identity.
"It's Mrs. Foster's father, Daniel!" Ultimately, Lucia was the first to recognize the man in the video.
She slapped her thigh. "This Daniel has been coming with his wife every day to bring lunch for Mrs. Foster! And he's always been very dissatisfied with Adeline!"
After speaking, Lucia subconsciously glanced at Anne beside her. "I heard him secretly badmouthing Adeline last time. You heard it too, right?"
Anne nodded quickly. "Yes!"
"Daniel indeed often speaks ill of Adeline, calling her a gold-digger and such."
Jasper furrowed his brows deeply and then glanced at Stella.
He could tolerate Daniel and Helen's malicious behavior towards Adeline and even their speculations about Adeline's relationship with him.
But this time, the project Adeline was working on was crucial for the Foster Group's future in the jewelry industry!
If this initial draft were leaked as a case of plagiarism, the Foster Group would be ruined in this industry!
Stella's face turned pale.
She put on an innocent look and looked up at Jasper. "Jasper, I had no idea about this."
She then started silently wiping away tears. "I've been trying to persuade my parents to be kinder to Ms. Wilson, telling them you do not have that kind of relationship with Adeline at all."
"But they wouldn't listen."
"And now, because of this misunderstanding, they've done something damaging the Foster Group's interests."
Stella sobbed and then looked at Lucia. "How are these things usually handled?"
Lucia furrowed her brows. "Usually, in cases like this, they will be arrested and taken to court! It's malicious theft and disclosure of corporate secrets, which carries a prison sentence!"
Stella bit her lip. She looked up, tears welling in her eyes as she gazed at Jasper. "Jasper, even though Daniel is my father, he has made such a mistake. As his daughter and also the wife of the Foster Group's CEO, I can't condone my relatives doing such things."
Stella squinted and glanced at Adeline's pale face, then seemed to make a significant decision as she turned to Jasper. "So I support handling this matter fairly, reporting it to the authorities, and arresting him."
Adeline closed her eyes.
Before watching the surveillance footage, she thought Stella was trying to use the copyright issue to trouble her.
But when she saw Daniel in the footage, she understood.
It wasn't about plagiarism; it was about Daniel.
Taking a deep breath, Adeline lifted her head and fixed her gaze on Stella's face.
It was a face identical to hers from six years ago.
Before Molly left, she mentioned that she was the child of Daniel and his mistress.
Adeline had a biological sister from the same parents.
All along, Adeline had thought that this Stella was her sister.
Otherwise, how could someone in the world look so much like her?
But now, Adeline stared intently at Stella's face, trying to figure out who Stella really was from her expression.
If Stella was her sister, then she was so ruthless that she would betray her own family to take her down.
If Stella wasn't...
Adeline closed her eyes. "Let's not call the police yet."
"I want to meet him."
