Chapter 58 She Doesn't Care about Me

After Grandma Foster left, Lauren rushed into Adeline's room in tears.

The little girl locked the door and pitifully clung to Adeline. "Mommy, I don't want to be separated from you. Please don't agree with great-grandma. I can find a way for you to stay!"

Adeline shook her head helplessly. "Don't bother. It's pointless."

She then cupped Lauren's face in her hands. "You're going to grow up, aren't you?"

Lauren choked back her tears and remained silent.

"Don't worry, I won't let you stay in danger. Once things are resolved in a few days, you can stay safely with the Foster family. Although your father has many flaws, he has always treated you well. And your great-grandma, it's clear that she cares about you."

Lauren pouted discontentedly. "She doesn't care about me. If she cares, why doesn't she let you stay with me?"

"Because she's an adult, so she thinks about things more," Adeline replied. She could understand Grandma Foster's concerns.

After all, Lauren was the precious darling of their Foster family. It was not acceptable for such an important little treasure to rely on and obey a servant.

"I don't care! I just don't like her." Lauren pouted stubbornly. "If she dares to kick you out, I won't be nice to her!"

Seeing her daughter's spoiled behavior, Adeline sighed and tried to calm her emotions. She eventually coaxed her to leave.

By the time Lauren left, the sky had already darkened.

A nurse brought Adeline dinner.

After setting the food down, the nurse took out a remote control and turned on the television. "Are you bored here?"

Adeline smiled and glanced up. On the TV screen, she saw Molly's fake smile.

Facing the camera, Molly smiled and said, "There are rumors online that my fiancé, Jasper, is in a coma, but I'm here to tell everyone that it's not true. He is just busy with work and has been mistaken to be lying in the hospital. Of course, our relationship has always been great, and marriage is on the horizon."

Facing the reporters' cameras, Molly showed the ring on her ring finger. "This ring was given to me by Jasper a couple of days ago."

Two knowledgeable reporters widened their eyes instantly.

"This is one of the two rings made by Master Y!"

"They were sold for a fortune overseas! Who would have thought it would end up with Miss Collins?"

"It seems Mr. Foster is the one who bought the expensive ring."

Adeline continued to eat while observing the ring on the TV.

There was no doubt that the one Molly had was fake.

The genuine one was still with Brandon.

But since she boldly showed the ring like this, it proved that her transaction with Brandon had already occurred.

She not only bought the right to counterfeit the "Counting Stars" series from Brandon but also obtained this ring.

Adeline took out her phone and sent a message to Bennett.

The little one excitedly bombarded Adeline with questions and concerns before getting serious.

"The house was pretty much burned down, and most of the furniture inside was destroyed."

"Auntie said this house originally belonged to her relatives and was loaned to you. She only confessed after the incident. She bought the house using a loan specifically to give it to you, mommy.

"So we don't need to compensate for the house, but everything we brought back from abroad was completely destroyed.

"The blueprints you wanted were burned, but I found electronic backups at Uncle Brandon's company. I can print them out and send them to you anytime."

After saying everything, Bennett took a deep breath. "Mommy, what are your plans now? Because of the fire incident, I had to tell that scumbag about our relationship as mother and son. We need to be extra careful when we have contact with him in the future."

Even though the young boy was only six years old, his words sounded mature, as if he were twenty-six.

Adeline sighed softly as she replied to him, "I plan to leave Blue Bay after Grandma Foster's birthday celebration."

"Will you leave Lauren there?"

"Yes."

"Then we need to resolve Molly's problem first." Bennett quickly responded, "Tim has kept a lot of important evidence about the fire. Even if that scumbag doesn't care, I will take these materials to the police station. It would be enough to put Molly behind bars for a few years."

Adeline sighed.

Her son was always so understanding.

"Take good care of Lauren. She doesn't want me to leave her. Since it was your idea for her to return to Jasper in the first place, you should take responsibility for this matter."

The little one on the other end of the phone fell silent for a long time.

Finally, Bennett mentioned that Violet had returned and ended the conversation with Adeline.

After a long time, Adeline's phone received another message, this time from Blake.

"Mama, I will try to convince Lauren. Lauren always listens to me. You and Bennett just need to worry about Molly."

Blake rarely initiates conversation.

Looking at the messages on her phone, Adeline sighed. "You've worked hard."

"It's not hard. Mama, in fact... I don't care if I can live a few more years. But I can't rest assured about you, about Bennett and Lauren.

"You've suffered too much, and you're unwilling to accept Uncle Brandon. I'm afraid you won't be happy in the future.

"Bennett is too mischievous. Although he's smart, he lacks a broader perspective. He's bound to suffer sooner or later. Lauren is too stubborn and emotional. She always likes to create drama.

"I just can't let go of you three. That's why I want to keep living. But if trying to save me makes all of you unhappy, I'd rather die."

Adeline closed her eyes and remained silent for a long time.

"Don't think too much. I will definitely cure you. We will all be happy."

After sending this message, Adeline felt suffocated.

The room was too stuffy.

After hesitating for a while, she got out of bed, pushed open the door of the ward, and walked out.

The hospital at night lacked the hustle and bustle of the day, making it eerily quiet.

Wearing a striped patient gown, Adeline walked aimlessly in the corridor, not realizing how far she had walked before she reached Jasper's ward.

Through the window of the ward, she saw Jasper.

One hand was still hooked up to an IV, while the other held a file.

Adeline could see his sharply defined profile.

He was cold and noble, exuding the charm of a mature man.

Looking at him, she couldn't help but think of their first meeting.

Even though she no longer loved him now, she had to admit that this man's appearance truly matched all her beautiful fantasies about men.

Suddenly, she heard Ryan's faint voice beside her. "Adeline, sir wants you to come in."

Adeline quickly snapped back to reality.

When she looked up again, the man was still focused on the file.

Aware of her gaze, he stopped his hand's movement and glanced at her. His thin lips moved slightly.

She recognized that he was saying, "Come in."
