Chapter 785 I Will Take Care
As soon as Howard stepped out of the car, Daisy threw herself into his arms.
Howard frowned at the sight of Daisy's tear-streaked face. "What did that jerk Oliver do this time?"
Daisy sobbed uncontrollably. "Dad, he drugged me!"
She rolled up her sleeve to reveal her arm covered in kiss marks. "He not only drugged me, but he also... he let someone..."
Seeing the marks on Daisy's arm, Howard's anger flared instantly. "That scumbag! This is too much!"
Daisy was still an innocent woman who had never been in a relationship! To drug her and let someone violate her purity was unforgivable!
Howard grabbed Daisy's arm in fury. "Come on! I'll stand up for you. We're going to confront Oliver right now!"
"With Zara sick, no one can control him anymore!" He dragged Daisy towards the main house, his voice cold. "Daisy, tell me exactly what happened."
Daisy, still crying, explained, "Because of Mom's illness, I was in a bad mood all day yesterday. In the evening, I went to see Adeline to have a drink with her. We were both upset about Mom, and I wanted to bond with Adeline. After all, when Mom was lucid, she always hoped we could get along."
Howard's expression darkened as he continued to pull her forward. "And then?"
"Then..." Daisy wiped her tears, her voice trembling. "Then Oliver came back. He said Adeline was pregnant and couldn't drink, accusing me of trying to harm her. Dad, I had no such intention. I can't even hold my liquor. If I wanted to harm Adeline, I could have poisoned her coffee, not put something in the wine..."
"Later, Oliver said he would drink in Adeline's place and joined me. Knowing I couldn't outdrink him, I tried to leave, but Oliver threatened to tell you that I was trying to get Adeline drunk to harm her baby."
"It was already late, and you were with Mom. I didn't want to disturb you or Mom, so I reluctantly stayed and drank with Oliver."
"After drinking, I got drunk. Oliver and Adeline went out for a drive. I went back to my room and fell asleep. When I woke up this morning, I found out I had been..."
Daisy choked up. "I don't even know who the man was... It must have been someone Oliver arranged."
"I know Oliver doesn't like me. I'm not a Phoebe, but you treat me like your own daughter, and he hates that. But I always saw him as my brother... I never thought he would treat me like this."
Howard grew angrier with each word. He grabbed a passing servant. "Is that jerk Oliver home?"
The servant nodded fearfully. "Yes... Yes, he is."
Howard snorted. "I'm kicking him out of the family today!"
In the living room, Dennis had just finished analyzing three blood samples. "The results are clear." He laid the reports on the table. "Daisy and Oliver both have traces of the drug in their blood, and it's evident they've both been detoxified. Adeline's blood is clean."
Oliver sneered, holding Dennis's report. "I want Howard to see what kind of person the daughter he's been protecting really is!"
Giving Adeline that drug not only defiled her but also endangered her unborn child. Daisy was truly vicious!
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the house. Howard kicked open the living room door and stormed in, grabbing Oliver by the collar.
He glared at Oliver, eyes blazing with fury. "You bastard! Even if Daisy isn't a blood relative, your mother and I have raised her for over twenty years! To us, she's more than a daughter. How dare you drug her and do this to her!"
The room fell silent. Adeline frowned, reaching out to pull Howard back. "Father, explain yourself. What did Oliver do to Daisy?"
Howard turned to Adeline, eyes blazing. "You were with Oliver last night. Don't tell me you didn't know he drugged Daisy and violated her!"
Adeline narrowed her eyes. She truly didn't know. Last night, Daisy had tried to drug her, but Oliver had stopped her. How had the story turned into Oliver drugging Daisy?
Oliver's cold laugh broke the silence. He yanked Howard's hand off his collar. "So, Daisy whispers a few words in your ear, and suddenly your son and daughter are the villains?"
Oliver's icy gaze bore into Howard. "I harmed Daisy? Last night, she tried to force Adeline to drink wine. You weren't there. Adeline was trapped in the hallway and called me for help. I mixed the wine Daisy brought and drank with her. You didn't see that either."
"Just because Daisy got to you first, you think I violated her? Do you still believe she's innocent?"
Oliver's words made Howard and Daisy's faces go pale. "Use your brain, old man. Who's more likely to drug whom? Me, to violate her, or her, to harm Adeline and her baby?"
Oliver grabbed Adeline's hand. "You want to kick me out of the family? Fine. I don't want to live with a scheming woman and a foolish old man. From now on, Adeline and I will live elsewhere. I'll take care of her and our baby!"
