Chapter 223 If You Are Her

Adeline slept heavily for a long time.

She seemed to be in an endless dream.

In the dream, she was dragged off a car in a daze.

She couldn't open her eyes, but she could feel her legs dragging on the ground, skin torn, bleeding, and excruciating pain.

There were murmurs of several men in her ears.

She couldn't hear what they were saying clearly, but she distinctly heard phrases like rape before murder.

She tried to open her eyes but to no avail.

Finally, she was awakened by a bucket of cold water.

Opening her eyes, she realized that it was not an illusion or a dream.

At this moment, she was in an abandoned factory.

The air was filled with the smell of rust, gasoline, and damp mold.

Her hands and feet were tied with ropes, bound to a chair, unable to move.
The factory was dimly lit.

In front of her, several tall and burly men stood there, looking at her with a cold smile.

Behind the men was a chair, and a middle-aged, cold and arrogant man sat on it.

He was holding an opened letter, capturing the contents of the letter.

After sending out the contents, the middle-aged man lightly smirked, burning the letter while glancing at Adeline. "Do you know who I am?"

Adeline bit her lip, enduring the pain in her legs, trying to calm herself down. "I do.

"The leader of the local largest gang, Gabriel."

She could clearly state her name like this, which somewhat surprised Gabriel.

Because the information given to him by the employer said that this woman was from Dawn Vale.

"You are a ruthless outlaw who doesn't hesitate to kill, and as long as you want, no one can catch you.

"But you never take money to do things for others."

After speaking, Adeline forced herself to stare at Gabriel's face with courage. "I have no grievances with you. Are you now breaking your principles and taking money to do things?"

The woman's cold and arrogant gaze made Gabriel have to look at her with a new perspective.

The man stroked his chin. "It's not exactly breaking the principles.

"Just returning a favor."

Adeline bit her lip, her brain quickly working.

When she was studying, Gabriel was already well-known.

Over the years, he had firmly held the position of the gang leader, and those who helped him should have done so not after he became famous, but before.

Finally, she narrowed her eyes and sifted through her mind.

Morris had helped Gabriel when he was down and out.

The reason why the Evelyn's family became the local business hegemon was also related to Gabriel.

Thinking of these, Adeline bit her lip. "Morris wanted to die together because his daughter died."

Gabriel slightly narrowed his eyes.

"You know quite a lot."

After speaking, the man turned to glance at the henchmen beside him, waving his hand, "Let's begin.

"A woman who knows so much, it's better to silence her crimes sooner rather than later."

The henchmen exchanged glances, then smiled and leaned in to whisper something to Gabriel.

The man smiled. "Good, let the brothers have some fun."

With his approval, the henchmen somehow brought in strong liquor and began pouring it into Adeline's stomach frantically.

Adeline couldn't drink alcohol.

She instinctively struggled and dodged.

However, she was bound, with no way to escape.

Before long, she looked like she had been pulled out of a wine barrel.

Her body and face were covered in alcohol.

The strong liquor seeped into the cuts on her legs, causing her intense pain.

After all the alcohol was poured, the men surrounded her, pinching her face, rubbing her head. "Hide, keep hiding!"

Adeline bit her lip tightly, closing her eyes.

Tonight, she might not be able to escape.

She hadn't activated the switch on the necklace around her neck, and Blake had no idea.

Linda was drunk.

Sebastian hadn't contacted her since the morning.

At this point, she was still thinking about Jasper.

He had no idea, and even if he did, would he even come to save her...?
With these thoughts, tears involuntarily fell from her eyes.

She didn't want to die.

At least not until Blake's illness was cured, she didn't want to die.

But what could she do now?

Gabriel was returning a favor, he didn't want money.

What else did she have to negotiate with Gabriel?

The woman helplessly closed her eyes.

Perhaps, this was her fate.

Just as those men reached out to her, there was a loud noise outside the abandoned factory.

Gabriel stood up abruptly. "Stop!"

The men quickly halted. "Boss, what's wrong?"

"This sound... something's not right!"

Gabriel furrowed his brow, about to say something, when the gates of the abandoned factory were rammed open by a black Hummer.

It was none other than David, the leader of the second largest gang in the area.

Sitting next to him in the passenger seat was the cold-eyed Jasper.

After the black Hummer rushed in, dozens of people followed and surged into the abandoned factory.

Gabriel was taken aback, realizing that he was being ambushed by the second gang.
He tried to rally his men, only to find that most of them had taken some alcohol while they were pouring it down Adeline's throat.

Now, they were all practically falling over.

The only one sober in the room was himself.

"Gabriel, still struggling?"

The black Hummer stopped, David got out of the car, sneering at Gabriel, "Did you think you could handle a woman with just a dozen men?

"Didn't expect us waiting behind you, did you?"

Gabriel glared coldly at him. "How did you know I was here?"

David smirked. "Mr. Foster couldn't reach his friend and thought his friend might be in trouble.

"His friend just offended the Evelyn's family today, and since you're working for the Evelyn's family, Mr. Foster naturally sent me to deal with you."

Gabriel narrowed his eyes, subconsciously looking in Jasper's direction.
However, Jasper paid no attention to the gang rivalry between them.

He walked over to Adeline with a complex expression in his eyes.

Seeing the wounds on her body and her shivering from being drenched in alcohol, a hint of pity flashed in his eyes.

He took off his coat and gently draped it over Adeline, carefully cutting the ropes binding her.

"Jasper..."

Having consumed too much alcohol, Adeline was already in a daze, grabbing his arm weakly. "You said you wouldn't let me drink anymore.
"You said not to let me block the alcohol for you... why didn't you keep your word?"

"I hate you so much..."

Her voice sounded misty, as if shrouded in mist.

He pursed his lips, holding her tightly in his arms. "Yes, I didn't keep my word."

Adeline clung to his arm, murmuring softly, "How long will it take for you to love me?"

Jasper's arm stiffened at her words.

In a daze, he was transported back to the year he had just married Adeline.

That year, right after they got married, she insisted on accompanying him outside to see the world, foolishly blocking the alcohol for him.

Later, when she got drunk, she held his arm like this and asked him,
"How long will it take for you to love me?"

The demeanor, tone, and the Adeline in front of him were almost identical.

He took a deep breath, gently touching her lips with his hand. "If you were her, it would be so much better..."
