Chapter 677 How Did You Get Out

The coroner opened the door.

Jasper, who should have been the first to stand up, stayed seated, unmoving.

But he tightened his grip on Adeline's hand.

Adeline, sensing his turmoil, gently let go of his hand and stood up, speaking softly, "How did it go, Forensic Pathologist?"

The Forensic Pathologist removed his mask and took a deep breath. "Mr. Foster, Mrs. Foster, you were right."

Adeline's eyes lit up at those words.

Jasper, who had been sitting still, finally relaxed his furrowed brow.

The Forensic Pathologist pulled out a report. "Since the evidence was obtained through an autopsy and is in poor condition, it's best if you just read this report. Mr. Foster, you were correct. Mrs. Lily Foster did indeed swallow something in a moment of desperation before she was killed."

He continued, "Based on the degree of corrosion in the stomach, we can determine that she died within a minute of swallowing the item."

Adeline quickly took the report. Jasper stood up and looked at the report as well.

This showed that Lily had swallowed a blood-stained piece of gauze.

The blood on the gauze had been extracted and confirmed not to be Lily's.

Jasper stared at the report, feeling very angry.

The gauze was made of a very special material, one that only one person in Radiance Springs used.

He remembered that a few days ago, when Rex had harassed Adeline, he had injured Rex. Brenda had then tearfully demanded that Jasper procure this advanced foreign gauze for Rex.

Jasper, already dealing with issues involving Adeline and Molly, didn't want to burden Lily with such minor concerns, so he agreed to Brenda's request.

They had bought a lot of this gauze, but Rex used it up quickly.

When Brenda came back for more, Jasper had firmly refused.

Because of Brenda's fuss, Jasper had a strong impression of this special gauze.

Now, seeing the description of the gauze on the report, Jasper felt a bitter irony.

He had gone to great lengths to buy this special gauze to keep Brenda from bothering Lily.

And now, this gauze had become the key evidence in Lily's murder.

Jasper was silent for a long time before looking at the Forensic Pathologist. "When can we get the DNA results from the blood on the gauze?"

The Forensic Pathologist paused. "In about half an hour."

He glanced at Adeline. "We'll compare the DNA from the blood on the gauze with Adeline's DNA. If it doesn't match, it will prove there was a third person at the scene."

Jasper hesitated. "Can I request that another person's DNA be included in the comparison?"

The Forensic Pathologist nodded. "Yes, whose DNA would you like to add?"

"My brother, Rex's DNA."

After saying this, Jasper briefly thanked the Forensic Pathologist and left the police station with Adeline.

An hour ago, the police station had been bustling, but now only Mia and Ryan remained outside.

Nathan and Rex had already left with the reporters.

Seeing Adeline and Jasper come out, Mia hurried over. "How did it go?"

Before Adeline could speak, Jasper frowned. "Where are Nathan and Rex?"

Mia's face darkened with anger. "They went to the city center for a press conference with the reporters. They said they were setting up the venue and waiting for you to come sign the stock transfer agreement."

Mia's anger grew as she spoke. "You should've seen how smug they were, like they were sure you wouldn't find any evidence from the autopsy and were already celebrating."

She added, "Nathan even bragged about spending a fortune to rent a venue and how dare he invite me to join the celebration. Honestly, he truly lacks any semblance of humanity; his mom just passed away, and yet here he is, celebrating like nothing happened."

Jasper sneered. "How could a man order his own son to kill his mother? What kind of humanity does he have?"

Adeline, Mia, and Ryan were all stunned.

"Jasper..." Adeline bit her lip. "Are you sure?"

She had heard Jasper ask the Forensic Pathologist to compare Rex's DNA, but she thought it was just a guess.

Now, Jasper was speaking with certainty. "Pretty sure." He closed his eyes with a bitter smile. "That gauze material is rare worldwide."

He instructed, his voice cold. "Ryan, to be safe, pull up the global distribution of that special gauze I had you buy last week."

"Got it."

He added, "And get all the hospital surveillance footage to confirm Rex's whereabouts at the time of the incident."

"On it."

After giving these orders, Ryan turned to leave but was stopped by Jasper again.

"Also, you investigate who Nathan and Rex have been hanging out with recently and where they've been going."

Jasper had a feeling that Nathan and Rex couldn't have orchestrated such a meticulous murder and frame-up on their own, especially Rex.

Last time, when Molly had him cut the brakes on the spare car, he didn't even know to wipe his fingerprints.

This time, the plan was so detailed that without an autopsy, there would be no evidence.

Someone must be advising them.

Ryan acknowledged the orders and left.

After Ryan left, Mia looked at Jasper. "What are you going to do next? Nathan is still preparing the stock transfer ceremony."

Jasper smiled. "Let him prepare. If he wants to take the shares in front of all of Radiance Springs, I'll let everyone see what kind of person he really is."

Lily was gone, and he had nothing left to hold back.

Mia nodded. "Alright, you two get ready. As a guest, I'll go check on their preparations."

She drove off, leaving Adeline and Jasper alone outside the police station.

It had been exactly a day since Adeline was detained.

"I'm sorry you had to go through this," Jasper sighed, pulling Adeline into his arms.

She shook her head. "It's nothing. I'm out now."

No matter how tough it was, it was better than Jasper facing everyone's doubts alone.

Jasper nodded, holding her tightly. "I have a question. As a murder suspect, no amount of money from Mia could have gotten you out on bail. How did you get out?"

Adeline's face warmed, and she didn't speak.

Feeling the heat on her cheeks, Jasper smiled faintly. "I know that pregnant women can be granted bail."
