Chapter 217 Orchestrated by Miss Mo
On the other end of the phone, Ryan fell silent for a moment. "Adeline, don't hold so much emotion toward Jasper.
"Early this morning, Jasper took people to rescue Lyndon. If it weren't for Jasper, your friend wouldn't have seen her father for the rest of her life after what was revealed at the press conference.
"Jasper had no choice. After all, the Evelyn family and the Foster family have had many years of interaction, and some things cannot be taken too far."
After speaking, Ryan sighed, saying, "You must come tonight. If you don't, you will regret it."
Adeline furrowed her brows, about to say something, but Ryan had already hung up the phone.
"Are you going tonight?" Seeing her hang up the phone, Linda cautiously asked.
Adeline closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Yes."
If she didn't go, how would she know Jasper's limits and how low they could be?
Just because the Foster family and the Evelyn family have had many years of interaction, so the things Luna did to harm her could be easily forgiven by Jasper, right?
In the evening, as planned, Adeline arrived at the Evelyn family's residence, accompanied by Linda.
Originally, Sebastian was intended to join her, but the Evelyn family permitted only one friend to accompany her inside.
After careful consideration, Adeline selected Linda—not for any other reason, but simply because the Evelyn family had nearly taken Linda's father's life earlier that day.
After the two got out of the car, hand in hand, they entered the Evelyn family's mansion.
As soon as they entered, Adeline met Stella sitting on the porch making a phone call.
Seeing the two of them come in, Stella hung up the phone, glanced at Adeline with a light smile. "You actually came?"
After that, she glanced at Linda beside Adeline, asking, "Why did you bring my good friend with you?"
Linda's face turned pale and exclaimed, "Stella!"
"What's wrong? Have you forgotten how you came to me to catch up with me in the first place?" Stella lowered her eyes, gently playing with the flowers on the porch. "If you hadn't told me about planting a pinhole camera in the hotel room, how would I have thought of that method?"
The woman's words made both Linda and Adeline freeze in an instant.
Adeline's shock was palpable as she gazed at Linda. It dawned on her—Linda had been the one to suggest to Stella the idea of setting up the pinhole camera in the room.
It suddenly made sense.
If it wasn't her, how would Stella have the complete set of photos from that day?
If it wasn't her, why did Linda appear with Lyndon right after finding the pinhole camera that day?
Linda bit her lip in silence, looked apologetically at Adeline, and then stared fiercely at Stella's face. "Yes, those pinhole cameras were indeed my suggestion, and I helped you shoot those clips.
"But, Stella, that day I thought you were really my good friend. You cried to me about your relationship and marriage being ruined, but you couldn't find evidence of who destroyed your family!
"If you hadn't cried so sadly that day, I would never have made that suggestion to you!"
Stella chuckled. "Explain these words to your good friend Adeline."
After that, she looked at Linda as if she remembered something. "Adeline is not from this city and will return to Dawnvale in the future. But Linda, you are different. You will continue to stay here in the future. You know very well what the consequences are of offending the Evelyn family."
With that, Stella sneered and walked away quickly.
Standing in place, Linda stared at Stella's back, silent.
"Linda." When Stella's figure disappeared completely down the corridor, Adeline furrowed her brows and looked at Linda suspiciously. "Do you... have something on Stella and the Evelyn family?"
If she wasn't mistaken, Stella had deliberately waited for them here.
After seeing them, the things Stella said seemed to be driving a wedge between Linda and Adeline, but the focus should be on the last few sentences.
Stella warning to Linda not to offend the Evelyn family proved that Linda had something that could offend the Evelyn family.
"No," Linda denied. "How could I have something on the Evelyn family and Stella? If I did, why would they threaten me?"
Adeline looked at her suspiciously. But then again, it makes sense.
If Linda had something, why would she be threatened?
She took a deep breath and took Linda's arm. "Let's go inside."
In a place where Adeline couldn't see, Linda let out a silent sigh. She actually knew what Stella was reminding her of.
Because her pinhole camera had once secretly captured...
The Evelyn family's dinner was prepared very lavishly.
Mr. Evelyn Sr. sat at the head of the table, smiling as he raised his glass, making a toast, "Jasper, time flies. You're going back to Dawnvale. Remember to give my regards to your grandmother and father!"
Jasper smiled and finished his drink. "Thank you for your concern. But…"
After that, he casually glanced at Luna sitting next to him. "Before I leave Seacity, there is something I hope Uncle Mo can help me with."
Mr. Evelyn Sr. waved his hand cheerfully and said, "Go ahead! As long as you say it, if I can help you, I will definitely do it!"
"Then thank you in advance, Mr. Evelyn Sr." Jasper leaned back elegantly in his chair, his gaze coldly sweeping over Luna's face. "I would like to ask Luna, do you and my employee named Adeline have any grievances?"
Luna was stunned, her face instantly turning pale. She nervously picked up her glass and took a sip to bolster her courage. "There are no grievances."
"Alright." Jasper leaned back in his chair before adding, "But these past few days, I have discovered some very interesting things."
Taking the file handed to him by Ryan, he placed it calmly in front of Mr. Evelyn Sr., "Mr. Evelyn Sr., please take a look. First, when we went to inspect the factory before, Luna arranged for a man named Ronald to accompany us. Later, under pressure from my people, Ronald admitted that he had been harassing my employees at Luna's behest.
"Then, when we were at the factory, a huge boulder flew toward Adeline and almost hit her. I was puzzled how such a low-level accident could happen in the successful Evercrest Group factory. So, I had my people investigate again. It was still at Luna's instigation."
Jasper's words left everyone present speechless.
Adeline looked at Jasper in astonishment. She had never thought that these were orchestrated and instigated by someone.
If Jasper hadn't said anything or investigated, she wouldn't have suspected...
"And." The man glanced indifferently at Luna's pale face as he continued, "That night, Ms. Adeline was drugged by Conor, got drunk, and was taken away by her... friend. After that, a group of people, disguised as my subordinates, took five or six male public relations personnel to find her, intending to ruin her and take photos to threaten her.
"After investigation, these people were also sent by Luna."
After saying that, he looked at Luna with a smirk. "Please, how deep is the hatred between you and Adeline that you would go to such lengths to target her?"
