Chapter 803 Have Your Doubts Been Resolved?
Jasper's words made Adeline's hands clench tightly at her sides.
She closed her eyes, feeling as if an invisible hand was squeezing her heart painfully.
She had guessed that Jasper's treatment of Howard wasn't just Jasper looking for trouble.
She knew Jasper well enough.
Jasper wasn't foolish enough to commit murder in such a place.
Adeline figured Howard must have said something he shouldn't have or done something inappropriate.
But she never expected... Howard would mock Jasper using the child who didn't survive.
Did he forget that the deceased child wasn't just Jasper's, but also his daughter Adeline's?
Seeing Adeline remain silent, Jasper sighed, pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and glanced at the car nearby.
"Where are you planning to go?"
Linda pursed her lips, "We're heading to the church on the east side of town to pray for Adeline's mom."
After speaking, she couldn't help but glance at Jasper, "What about you?"
"Judging by the direction of your car, you must be heading to our place, right?"
"Do you need something from Adeline?"
Jasper raised an eyebrow but didn't respond.
Adeline exhaled, turned her face away, avoiding Jasper's deep, unreadable eyes, "Jasper, I told you, after our child passed away, there's nothing left between us."
"Don't come looking for..."
"You also said that the child was the last connection between us."
Jasper coldly interrupted her, elegantly blowing a smoke ring.
"Three days."
Adeline was taken aback, "What?"
"In three days, it will be a month since the child was born."
Jasper took another drag of his cigarette, his deep eyes fixed on Adeline's face through the smoke.
"Radiance Springs has a tradition. If a child dies shortly after birth, you still burn something for them when they would have been a month old, to celebrate their short life."
"Other children get it, she shouldn't be without it."
He threw the cigarette butt to the ground and stomped it out.
"I came to ask if you want to join me in three days."
His words left Adeline stunned.
How could she forget... In three days, it would be Daisy and Brandon's child's birthday party, and also... the birthday of her and Jasper's child.
Thinking of the child made Adeline feel like a heavy stone was pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.
After a moment, she bit her lip and looked at Jasper.
"Alright. Come pick me up in three days, and we'll celebrate her together."
Other children have it, and so should their child.
Jasper smiled faintly, "Alright."
"Time's running out."
Linda glanced at her watch and gently reminded Adeline.
Linda had found faith recently.
She had found a master at a church on the east side of town online and had an appointment for the master to pray for Zara, hoping she would wake up soon.
There was only half an hour left until the appointment, and it took nearly forty minutes to get to the church from here.
They were running out of time.
Adeline snapped out of it, quickly said goodbye to Jasper, and got into the car.
The silver sedan sped away.
Jasper lit another cigarette for himself, leaning against the car door, watching Adeline's car become a white dot in the distance.
Finally, he extinguished the cigarette and got back into his car.
The driver nervously got in as well.
"Mr. Foster, where to now? Back home?"
"No need."
Jasper leaned back in the rear seat, eyes closed, speaking wearily.
"Stick to the original plan, head to the small house."
His words puzzled the driver.
"But..."
Adeline and Linda were no longer at the house, so why go there?
Sensing the driver's confusion, Jasper's lips curled slightly, his tone indifferent.
"There are other people there besides them, aren't there?"
The driver nodded quickly and started the car.
The guards outside the small house were Oliver's men and were familiar with Jasper.
Seeing him arrive, they only informed him that Adeline had left, but didn't stop him from entering.
Jasper went straight to the side house where Zara was.
Inside, the caregiver was feeding Zara through a nasal tube.
People who couldn't eat on their own had to rely on nasal feeding to get basic nutrition.
Seeing Jasper, the caregiver was about to stop, but Jasper gestured for her to continue.
Jasper sat in a chair, quietly watching the caregiver tend to Zara.
After about ten minutes, the feeding was done, and the caregiver left.
In the quiet room, only Zara was lying on the bed, and Jasper, sitting in the chair, remained.
The only sounds were their breathing.
"I broke my promise."
Jasper looked at Zara's peaceful profile, his voice low and hoarse.
"I promised you that no matter what, I wouldn't let the Phoebe family go bankrupt or fall into ruin."
"But I broke my promise."
"Your husband is no longer the man you loved."
"He can't tell right from wrong."
Jasper walked over, gently pulling the blanket over Zara.
"A lot of bad things have happened recently."
"If you could wake up, maybe things wouldn't be so bad."
"But I will still ensure your and Adeline's safety."
Jasper sighed deeply, "My child's death is tied to both the Phoebe family and the Torres family."
"This time, I won't let it go easily."
It was because he listened to Lily too much back then, and after she recovered, he didn't pursue the Phoebe family, leading to disaster.
His dear grandmother Lily.
His newborn child.
His words made Zara's fingers twitch involuntarily.
"I've found the best doctors in the world for you. They'll be here in Oceancrest City soon to consult on your case."
"You need to get better soon."
With that, Jasper stood up and left.
As he walked out, a tear silently slid down from the corner of Zara's eye.
At the church on the east side of Oceancrest City.
The silver sedan stopped.
Linda excitedly pulled Adeline out of the car.
"Hurry, hurry!"
"We're ten minutes late. I hope the master isn't angry and hasn't left!"
Adeline, out of breath, was dragged by Linda towards the gazebo behind the church.
From a distance, she saw a man in uniform standing there.
"He's still here!"
Linda excitedly pulled Adeline over, "Sir, we're here!"
The man turned around.
Seeing his face, Adeline froze.
Because the master was none other than Brandon's biological father, Leo!
Compared to Adeline, Leo was much calmer.
He smiled lightly at Adeline, "Miss, we meet again."
"Did the things I gave you last time solve your doubts?"
