Chapter 402 What did you and your people do to Luna again?
Adeline had a rough night, probably 'cause she didn't sleep well. Even though she popped some meds before bed, she still woke up with a killer headache.
She dragged herself outta bed and grabbed her phone.
Two texts from Jasper.
Jasper: [Luna used my phone. She sent you a message by mistake.]
Jasper: [Just ignore it.]
Adeline's headache got worse, like someone was jabbing her brain with a needle. She was pissed.
She tossed her phone aside and closed her eyes, replaying Jasper's messages in her head.
Given how smart Jasper is, she couldn't believe he didn't see that Luna's message was a straight-up provocation.
But he let it slide.
What could she even say?
After lying in bed for what felt like forever, Adeline finally took a deep breath, got up, and got ready for work.
When she got to the office, Lucia was there, winking at her like she had some juicy gossip.
Adeline was confused. "What's up?"
Lucia pointed to Adeline's office door, which was shut tight, and whispered, "Luna's in there."
Adeline's eyebrows shot up.
What was Luna doing in her office so early?
Adeline asked, "How'd you let her in?"
Sure, there wasn't anything super valuable in her office, but it was her space, full of her work plans and design sketches.
Those might be trash to Luna, but to Adeline, losing them would be a big deal.
Lucia sighed and whispered, "She's the boss's girlfriend. Luna said she wanted to go in, and we couldn't stop her."
Adeline pursed her lips.
It wasn't Lucia's fault. After all, Luna had used Jasper's phone to send her that provocative video, and Jasper had come up with some lame excuse about it being a mistake.
Today, even if Luna trashed her office or set it on fire, Jasper would probably say Luna didn't mean it, right?
Taking a deep breath, Adeline pulled herself together and walked straight to the door, pushing it open.
Inside, Luna was standing there, pouring some white powder into Adeline's usual drinking cup.
As Luna poured, she muttered with a smile, "She definitely won't notice."
Lucia, who had followed Adeline in, saw what Luna was doing and shouted angrily, "Ms. Jones, what are you doing?"
Was she drugging Adeline?
How bold!
Even if Luna had Jasper's backing, she couldn't just waltz into Adeline's office and drug her cup, could she?
Lucia's shout made Luna freeze.
The next second, Luna instinctively pulled her hand back, then, as if realizing something, reached out to touch the cup.
But before her fingers could reach it, Robert snatched the cup away.
Holding the cup, Robert glanced at the clear water inside and smirked. "Ms. Jones, what happens if someone drinks this?"
Luna's face showed a flicker of panic.
She bit her lip, her eyes welling up. "Give me back that cup."
Lucia snorted. "Oh, so you can get rid of the evidence?"
With that, she grabbed her phone and called Jasper's secretary, Scarlett. "Scarlett, get Mr. Foster down to the design department. He needs to see what his girlfriend Luna's been up to!"
Yesterday, Luna had deliberately spilled coffee all over Anne and then claimed Adeline's assistants were trying to drive her away.
Today, Luna was caught red-handed drugging Adeline. She couldn't possibly claim Adeline's people were framing her again, could she?
"Ms. Garcia." Seeing Lucia make the call, Luna's eyes welled up again. "It's just a small thing. Why do you have to call Jasper over?"
Luna then turned, looking pitifully at Adeline. "Ms. Wilson, I swear I wasn't drugging you. Let me explain."
"You weren't drugging?" Before Adeline could speak, Lucia shot Luna a glare. "Adeline's office has surveillance cameras!"
"Do you think you can lie your way out of this?"
"Besides, even if you could dodge the cameras, we all saw you putting something in Adeline's cup just now!"
Lucia was getting more furious. "Ms. Jones, I don't get why you keep playing these petty games. Sure, Adeline had a thing with Mr. Foster in the past, but that's ancient history. Is it still worth targeting her?"
"If you really can't stand Adeline, why not just get Mr. Foster to have her resign for your sake?"
"Why use sneaky tactics to force her to stay while secretly targeting her? Isn't it exhausting?"
Lucia had always been someone who liked to stay neutral. She never took sides in the past issues between Adeline and Stella, nor did she ever speak from Adeline's perspective.
But Luna's recent actions had truly pissed Lucia off because Luna bullied others while playing the victim!
"Ms. Garcia," Luna looked at Lucia with teary eyes, her voice full of grievance. "How can you say that about me?"
As she spoke, she started coughing violently, clutching her chest, at a loss for words.
Lucia rolled her eyes. "Playing the victim."
Adeline frowned, watching Luna's face grow paler, her brows furrowing slightly.
She hesitated for a moment, then finally walked towards Luna, intending to support her.
Adeline had just taken two steps when someone bumped into her hard.
Jasper rushed in from outside the office, knocking Adeline aside, causing her to stumble into an easel.
But Jasper didn't seem to notice. He rushed to Luna's side, pulling the coughing Luna into his arms. "Are you okay?"
"Jasper," Luna's tears fell instantly. She cried while leaning against Jasper's chest, her body trembling with coughs. "They wronged me."
Jasper narrowed his eyes, looking coldly at Adeline. "What did you and your people do to Luna this time?"
