Chapter 484 How Do You Know He Doesn't Know?

"If it wasn't to give Luna and me more time together, why would I email Mia? For Adeline? That's a joke. I've hated her from the start, for six years, and that has never changed!"

Jasper's words kept replaying in Adeline's mind.

After leaving Jason's company, Adeline just hopped on a random bus.

The people on the bus seemed like they were in a different world.

It wasn't until the bus reached the last stop that Adeline snapped out of it and got off.

She looked around and realized she was right below Violet's apartment.

Adeline thought, 'It's a weekday, and it's work hours, so Violet should be at the hospital, right? But she might be off today, prepping for her engagement to Ethan.'

With that in mind, Adeline decided to go upstairs and ring Violet's doorbell.

To her surprise, Violet was actually home. And not just Violet, but her boyfriend Ethan was there too.

"It looks like it's almost lunchtime, but we haven't prepared anything," Ethan said, standing up. "I'll go grab some lunch. You two can catch up."

With that, Ethan quickly left.

Violet asked, "What happened?"

After Ethan left, Violet pulled the somewhat lost Adeline to sit on the couch. "Didn't you win yesterday's competition? And you didn't just win; you crushed it and shut down all those online rumors. Why do you still seem so down?"

Adeline closed her eyes and sighed deeply.

She told Violet everything that had happened in Jason's office.

Finally, Adeline lay listlessly on the couch, her eyes faintly looking at Violet's face. "I feel really conflicted right now."

Violet's mouth hung open for a long time. "That's just too much, isn't it?"

Even though what Jasper did helped Adeline a lot, he was completely using Adeline and Mia to protect Luna!

"Even though I always knew Jason was lying when he said Jasper liked me," Adeline closed her eyes and sighed. "But this time, I heard Jasper say on the phone that he dislikes me."

Adeline gave a bitter smile. "I said I was over him. But thinking about how I loved him for so long, and now all he remembers is hating me, it hurts."

Violet sighed, walked over to Adeline, and gently hugged her, sighing deeply.

Violet had always known that Adeline had never let go of Jasper.

She was a student of Adeline's plastic surgeon, and she had been involved in Adeline's surgeries abroad.

During many surgeries where anesthesia couldn't be administered, Adeline endured by calling out Jasper's name.

Adeline explained that Jasper was the person she hated the most. So, in the most difficult times, calling Jasper's name was to let the hatred support her through it.

But later, Violet's teacher also said that most people's so-called hatred was because they loved someone deeply but they couldn't have them.

At first, Violet didn't understand, but now she did. Adeline loved Jasper so much that it turned into a hatred she couldn't let go of.

If Adeline really didn't care about Jasper as she said, how could she have such deep-seated hatred for him?

Violet sighed, thinking about all the things Adeline had done for Jasper over the years, feeling a pang of sadness.

As Violet and Adeline hugged and sighed, the door opened.

Ethan walked in with lunch and saw Violet tearfully hugging Adeline. It was clear Violet was trying to comfort Adeline, but it was Violet who was crying, not Adeline.

Ethan couldn't help but chuckle at his girlfriend. He set the lunch on the table and looked at Violet with a mix of amusement and helplessness. "You're the first person I've seen who comforts a friend to the point of making yourself cry."

Violet wiped her tears. "It's not that I'm overly sentimental; it's that Jasper is just too much! Do you know? Although Adeline won the competition yesterday, it was all part of Jasper's scheme. Jasper deliberately emailed Adeline's friend so her friend would expose Luna's schemes at the critical moment. He just wanted to make sure Luna wouldn't win, wouldn't get the results, and would have more time to spend with him! Isn't that kind of man despicable?"

Ethan frowned slightly as he set the table for the three of them. "Actually, that reason doesn't hold up."

Violet was stunned. "What do you mean?"

Adeline, sitting on the couch, also frowned and looked at him silently.

Ethan sighed. "Don't you think Jasper's words and actions don't match?"

Ethan sat down, gesturing for Adeline and Violet to join him for lunch, and smiled. "I watched the entire competition yesterday. If the evidence Mia presented was all given by Jasper to make Luna resign, it wasn't necessary.

First of all, if he didn't want Luna to waste time on jewelry design, he didn't need to force her into Adeline's team in the first place.

Luna's lack of technical skills is the best reason for her not to compete. Why would he put in so much time and effort and risk ticking off Adeline, and anger the design department to place Luna in the team?"

Ethan's words made Adeline, who had been in a daze, suddenly realize. Ethan made sense. Jasper was always a smart person. There were better reasons and ways; why choose the most difficult and costly one?

Violet pouted, took the fork Ethan handed her, still looking unconvinced. "What if Jasper initially wanted Luna to compete but later regretted it when he saw she was too focused on work and had no time for him?"

"That still doesn't make sense." Ethan smirked. "According to the timeline, Luna only got the position of chief designer three days ago. But Mia received the email two days ago. So, Mia received the email the day after Luna became the chief designer. And Jasper didn't gather all that evidence in an instant. Unless Jasper regretted it the moment Luna became the chief designer."

Ethan said this while drawing a simple timeline on paper. "This is Jasper's evidence collection timeline."

After finishing, he looked deeply at Adeline. "I don't know Jasper, so I can't say if he'd make things difficult for himself.. But logically, Jasper should have started gathering evidence when you were being slandered. Replacing you with Luna was because he hadn't gathered all the evidence yet and needed more time."

Finally, under the shocked gazes of Adeline and Violet, Ethan concluded, "I think Jasper was purely helping you. The reason he sent the evidence to your friend was probably because he was wary of his own relationship with Luna. The things Jasper said on the phone were the real lies."

Violet raised an eyebrow. "But he didn't know Adeline was listening to the call."

Ethan chuckled. "How do you know he didn't?"
