Chapter 349 It Has Always Been Adeline
Adeline stared at Thomas, eyes wide with shock.
"Jasper sent you?" she whispered.
"Of course," Thomas said, crouching down. "Who else could get David's men to slip those pills into your water? Who else could make sure you ended up here, in Neon City, at my mercy?"
Feeling lightheaded from blood loss, she tightened her grip on her collar. "Why?" she asked, voice breaking. "Why would he do this?"
"Mr. Foster knows this child is his," Thomas said bluntly. "He told us to take care of it. You could leave, but not with his child."
His words hit Adeline like ice.
'Jasper… Do you know? Do you know your own children are gone?'
'You are losing two children at once.'
'And I… I am losing two children at once.'
'My poor Blake…'
Tears streamed down her cheeks. She squeezed her eyes shut, whispering, "Jasper… I will make you pay for this. I swear it."
Her vision blurred, and she collapsed.
Thomas watched her fall, expression unreadable. With a sigh, he pulled out a discharge form, dipped his finger in her blood, and pressed her thumb onto the paper. He gave her one last look before walking away.
Later, a cleaner found Adeline's crumpled form, her cries for help echoing through the terminal.
On the hospital rooftop, Stella stood at the edge, a knife to her throat, eyes wild as she stared at Jasper.
"Jasper, I'm giving you a choice," she hissed, voice trembling. "The divorce papers… or I jump."
Jasper stood still, brow furrowed. "What good would the papers do you? You're not Adeline."
Stella froze, knife trembling. "You knew?" she whispered.
Jasper laughed humorlessly. "How long did you think you could keep up the act?"
Stella's behavior had been a stark contrast to the Adeline he knew. He had initially blamed it on time and trauma, but her erratic actions made him suspicious.
Yesterday, she had drugged him. That was the final straw. The Adeline he knew would never do that.
So, he had Alice run a DNA test. He needed to know if the woman he had let back into his life was truly Adeline.
The results came just as he and Adeline were leaving the stairwell.
Bennett and Lauren were not a match to Stella.
The woman before him was either a doppelganger or an imposter.
"So what?" Stella spat, anger replacing fear. "The Adeline you knew is gone. Legally, I am Adeline Cullins!"
She brandished the knife, eyes blazing. "Now, give me the divorce papers!"
She knew the game was up. Jasper saw through her. But she wouldn't go down without a fight. She would stall him, keep him distracted.
It was already done.
Soon, he'd get the news. His three kids were dead.
If she couldn't have his love, then Adeline wouldn't either. She'd use the deaths of Bennett, Lauren, and Adeline's unborn child to drive a wedge between them.
A chilling smile crossed her lips as she looked up at the night sky.
Six years... she had spent six years becoming the person she despised. She sacrificed everything—family, friends, her own identity—for him.
And what did she get in return?
Her father and Gabriel were in prison. Morgana and Diana were living in poverty. The Quinn family was in ruins.
And she had nothing.
She couldn't have him, but she could make sure Adeline wouldn't either.
"What is it about her, Jasper?" she cried, voice cracking. "I loved you for years... and I became the one you hate the most."
Her words hit him hard. His eyes narrowed, piercing through her facade.
"Evelyn," he said, voice low and dangerous. "It really is you."
Stella laughed, a hollow, broken sound. "You remember."
"How could I forget?" he spat, disgusted.
"You have no idea how much I love you, Jasper," she whispered. "More than any other woman ever could."
She dropped the knife, hands flying to her face. "I did this for you! I almost forgot what I looked like before..."
"I've done everything I could. But you wouldn't love me," she screamed, voice raw with anguish.
She paced, her laughter echoing through the night. "But it doesn't matter now, does it? Your precious Adeline... her children... they're gone. All gone. Soon, you'll have nothing left."
She whirled around, eyes gleaming with manic triumph. "There will be nothing left between you and her!"
Jasper's jaw clenched, eyes hardening. "What have you done?" he growled, voice dangerously low.
"You don't know, do you?" Stella laughed, chilling glee in her voice. "That child Adeline's carrying... it's not Sebastian's. It's yours."
Jasper stared, mind reeling. "What are you talking about?"
"Oh, Jasper," Stella sighed, shaking her head. "Don't you see? Adeline Wilson is Adeline Cullins. Adeline would never sleep with another man. She loves you too much. You thought she slept with Sebastian that night... that was all my doing."
"You found out the Quinns were behind it, didn't you? That it was my people who sent Sebastian to her room that night."
She sank to the ground, laughter echoing eerily. "I wanted you so badly, Jasper. But even drunk, you only ever called out for Adeline. You never touched me."
"But you were always so tender with me after... after you slept with her."
"So I devised a plan," she whispered, voice chillingly detached. "Every night... I would let you have Adeline... and then I would take her place."
She looked up, eyes gleaming with terrifying intensity. "You've only ever been with Adeline, Jasper. And she... she only ever had you."
"Your love... it bore fruit. But she wanted to leave you. She wanted to leave you with your kid."
She pulled a small vial from her pocket, holding it up. "So I had this crushed. And added to her water."
She sprang to her feet, excitement palpable. "And now... your child is gone!"
She tilted her head, eyes boring into his. "You had no idea, did you?"
"And it gets better," she continued, voice filled with chilling glee. "I had a little surprise planted in Bennett and Lauren's car."
"And now... your other two children are gone too!"
Stella threw back her head, laughing triumphantly, her laughter echoing through the night.
