Chapter 777 Drink It Whether You Want to or Not!

Adeline frowned and sidestepped Daisy again.

"I don't like drowning my sorrows in alcohol."

With that, she took a long stride down the stairs.

She hadn't gone far when Daisy grabbed her again.

"Adeline, why are you so scared to have a drink with me? I won't tease you for having a low tolerance."

Adeline's frown deepened. She looked coldly at Daisy.

"If you know I can't handle my liquor, why are you pushing me to drink with you? What's your game?"

Daisy was taken aback by Adeline's words. Realizing she had misspoken in her haste, she quickly smiled and held onto Adeline.

"I didn't mean anything by it."

"I just thought you've been through a lot lately. I was raised by my mom, and seeing her like this makes me sad, too."

"I feel like we haven't had a proper meal or chat since you came back to the Phoebe family."

"Mom always wanted us to get along like real sisters."

"So, seeing her like this, I thought maybe we could drink together, ease our troubles, and bond a bit."

"Maybe if she sees us getting along, she'll get better."

Daisy's rambling made Adeline narrow her eyes slightly. She could tell Daisy was determined to get her to drink tonight. Though she didn't know Daisy's exact motive, she decided to play along.

"Just drinking is boring. How about I go downstairs and cook a couple of dishes?"

Daisy quickly smiled, "No need for that. I've already asked the kitchen to prepare something."

"Shall we go to your room?"

Adeline squinted, put her phone in her pocket, and nodded lightly. "Alright."

Since Daisy had the kitchen staff prepare the food, it was unlikely she could openly tamper with it. Adeline was curious to see what Daisy was planning.

Seeing Adeline finally agree, Daisy breathed a sigh of relief. She had arranged for Brandon to come to the Phoebe Mansion in an hour. If she couldn't get Adeline to drink the spiked wine by then, her plan would fail.

The two of them sat by the window in Adeline's room. Adeline looked at the night sky and spoke calmly.

"I didn't expect you to want to drink with me today."

"Did you always like drinking?"

Daisy hesitated, then forced a smile. "I didn't really like drinking before."

"I just thought we should have a drink together today."

Adeline turned to her, her gaze indifferent. "I bet you're not much of a drinker."

"Daniel and Helen can't hold their liquor, and Molly's only slightly better than me. How could you possibly like drinking?"

Adeline's words made Daisy's face darken. She hated being reminded of her biological family, especially Daniel and Helen. And now Adeline was comparing her to them!

If she had a choice, she wouldn't be Daniel and Helen's daughter!

Daisy glared at Adeline, thinking she should have died six years ago. How did she survive until now?

She gritted her teeth, looking out the window, her eyes filled with murderous intent, but her voice remained calm.

"Those names from the Collins family are so unfamiliar to me."

"Except for Molly, I've never met any of them."

Adeline laughed. "Then you should meet them."

She turned to Daisy. "I've come here to meet my biological parents. You should go see yours too, don't you think?"

Daisy squinted, her voice almost a hiss. "I'll go when I have time."

Adeline turned back to the window. She saw Oliver's car parked outside the gate and let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief. She had already called Oliver when she put her phone in her pocket earlier.

Oliver knew all about Daisy's plan to get Adeline to drink in her room. Seeing Oliver get out of the car, Adeline felt her tension ease. She knew she couldn't avoid Daisy's attempt to get her drunk tonight, but she wasn't without help.

Daisy hadn't noticed Oliver's return. She was still fuming over Adeline's mention of the Collins family. After a while, she composed herself and looked at the moon.

"Mom always wanted us to be as close as real sisters."

"I hope after tonight, we can really be like sisters."

Adeline squinted and smiled. "Sure."

"How could you become sisters without me?"

As soon as Adeline finished speaking, the door opened from the outside. A man dressed in black, bringing the chill of late autumn, walked in.

Daisy's eyes widened, and she instinctively hid her wine behind her back. "Oliver, what are you doing here?"

Wasn't he supposed to be out?

"I heard you two were drinking at home, so I came."

Oliver said, sitting down between Adeline and Daisy. The servant set the dishes on the table. Oliver grabbed both bottles of wine from Daisy and poured half of each into a large decanter before handing them back to her.

Daisy was stunned. The two bottles were different—one was spiked, the other wasn't!

She had planned to trick Adeline into drinking the weaker one. But now Oliver had mixed them together. What now?

Soon, the wine was ready. Oliver poured himself a glass, then one for Daisy, and finally placed a glass in front of himself.

He looked at Daisy coldly. "Adeline is pregnant and can't drink, so I'll drink for her."

He motioned to Daisy. "Drink up."

"Or do you want me to toast you?"

Daisy's legs trembled at the sight of the wine. Adeline had Brandon to detoxify her if she drank it. But what about her?

She forced a smile. "Oliver, I just remembered I have something to do, I..."

She stood up, but Oliver pulled her back down.

"You were the one insisting on drinking with Adeline."

"Tonight, you're drinking whether you like it or not!"
