Chapter 476 Is It Any of Your Business?

Adeline's back smacked hard against the cold, unforgiving iron door, making her wince in pain.

She looked up at Jasper standing in front of her, eyes blazing with anger. He looked like a husband who just caught his wife cheating, feeling totally betrayed.

Adeline found it kinda funny. She had been his wife once. But wasn't that, like, over six years ago?

"You've got quite the imagination," Adeline shot back, meeting Jasper's gaze without flinching. "What part of our chat made you think Vikram and I were gonna do something sketchy at my place?"

From start to finish, Vikram just wanted to know if she had overheard his secret with Luna. How did it turn into her having some weird thing with Vikram and planning to do stuff at her place in Jasper's head?

Jasper squinted, his voice icy. "It's already nighttime; Vikram said he wanted to take you to a quiet place; he wants to go to your home. Isn't that what it means?"

Adeline paused, then laughed.

"In your eyes, if a guy and a girl go to someone's home at night, it must mean they're gonna hook up?" she asked.

Jasper squinted. "What else could it mean?"

Adeline smirked. "Your idea is truly astonishing. Do you really think I'm someone who ignores kids' feelings and only cares about my own pleasure, like you?"

Her words made Jasper's eyes narrow sharply. He looked at her but said nothing.

Adeline shrugged. "Besides, let's not even mention that Vikram and I aren't like that. Even if we were, what's it to you? We're both single..."

"Adeline!" Jasper cut her off coldly, lifting her chin with his hand, forcing her to look at him. "Vikram is only nineteen. Can you have some self-respect? Your son and daughter are already six years old! Don't you feel ashamed doing such things with a nineteen-year-old boy?"

Adeline looked at him, her eyes indifferent. "You can even talk about having kids with twenty-year-old Luna, so what's wrong with me sleeping with nineteen-year-old Vikram?"

Every word Adeline said was like a thorn, piercing Jasper's heart.

Jasper gritted his teeth, staring at her face, enunciating each word, "I never intended to have kids with Luna!"

Adeline smirked and nodded. "Right, that's true. After all, having kids is painful and hard. Of course, you wouldn't want Luna to go through that."

She coldly grabbed Jasper's hand that was holding her chin. "But Mr. Foster, let me remind you. Your terminally ill Luna is waiting for you in the ward. If Luna finds out about you making moves on me here, will she get so emotional that she faints again? And then, will it be my fault again?"

Adeline's words made Jasper's brows furrow deeply once more.

Jasper asked, "You know about Luna's illness?"

Adeline sneered as she pulled away from his grip, turning to stand in the middle of the rooftop.

Feeling the night breeze on the rooftop, she chuckled. "Yeah, I know."

"Today at the event, as soon as you left with Ms. Jones, Jason hurriedly explained that it was because Ms. Jones was terminally ill that you arranged for her to be on the competition team. And then the organizers and the audience were so moved that they gave you a thunderous round of applause," Adeline said.

The more Adeline talked, the more sarcastic her smile got.

"But they're still too young," she went on. "They might not get that even if Ms. Jones wasn't terminally ill, Mr. Foster would still do anything for her, as long as she batted her eyelashes."

Jasper's eyes narrowed sharply, making Adeline's heart grow cold.

She smirked. "Why so quiet? Did I hit the nail on the head?"

Jasper's gaze was deep. "What do you think?"

Before Adeline could say more, Jasper's phone rang.

The rooftop was dark, so when Jasper picked up his phone, the name "Luna" on the screen was glaringly obvious.

Adeline bit her lip, watching Jasper answer Luna's call.

She listened as Jasper's voice, which had been low and stern with her, turned gentle and tender.

"I'll be back soon. I haven't eaten; I'll eat with you. I'll hang up now," Jasper said.

After those three sentences, he hung up.

Adeline stood there, looking at Jasper, and suddenly found it amusing.

Clearly, in Jasper's eyes now, Luna was the most important. Yet he was angry because he misunderstood her relationship with Vikram, so he dragged her to the rooftop to question her. What right did he have?

Thinking of this, Adeline walked directly to the rooftop door.

"Since you're so busy, I won't bother you. You should go back and have dinner with Ms. Jones," she said.

With that, she reached out and grabbed the iron door of the rooftop. "Vikram is still waiting for me downstairs."

Maybe the mention of "Vikram" set Jasper off; he rushed over and pulled Adeline back. "You're still gonna take Vikram home, aren't you?"

Adeline smirked. "Yeah, so what?"

"Not only am I gonna take Vikram home, but I'm also gonna have dinner with him and chat with him. And as for what you said about something happening between us at night, that's also possible," she said.

Her cold voice and indifferent attitude made the anger in Jasper's chest boil over.

He pulled her over and pinned her against the wall. "You're still gonna take him home. Did you just ignore everything I said?"

"Yes!" Adeline looked up and met his gaze. "Jasper, who do you think you are to me? Do you think you have any right to control me? Even Blake and Lauren support me being with other men. What right do you have to interfere?"

Before she could finish, Jasper kissed her hard. His kiss was cold and forceful, filled with his usual dominance.

Adeline's eyes widened at first, then she struggled desperately. But the more she struggled, the deeper Jasper's kiss became.

As Adeline struggled, she reached out and grabbed the handle of the large iron door beside her. So, the iron door of the rooftop swung open.

Jasper frowned, kissing her while trying to close the door, but when he looked up, he froze.

Seeing him stop, Adeline quickly broke free from his grasp. She raised her hand and slapped Jasper hard, making his head turn to the side.

But Jasper continued to stare in the direction of the door, motionless.

Adeline frowned and instinctively turned to look. She saw Luna standing at the entrance of the rooftop, clad in a hospital gown, her face pale and gaunt.
