Chapter 569 Is That Bennett?
Ryan's voice came through the phone, sounding a bit defeated. "We're at the hospital's surveillance room and have tried to pulled up the footage from that day."
He paused and let out a sigh.
"That afternoon, the hospital's surveillance system got hacked and a bunch of hard drives were trashed, including the footage you wanted. All we got is a mess of unreadable code."
Jasper squinted. "Snap a pic of the code and send it to me."
"Got it." Ryan took a deep breath.
"Sir, we can't find the footage right now, but I just got in touch with the bodyguards from that day. Should they head to Emerald Crest Estate or Blue Bay?"
Jasper frowned, his voice cold. "Let them handle their own business. We don't need them anymore."
Since someone hacked the hospital's system right after Luna left, it meant the bodyguards weren't lying. Otherwise, no one would go to such lengths.
Jasper got the photo just as Blake and Lauren were coming downstairs for breakfast.
As they walked by, Blake glanced at Jasper's phone screen and froze.
"This code."
Jasper raised an eyebrow. "You recognize it?"
Blake was quiet for a moment, then sighed.
"I wrote it ages ago. It can mess with surveillance systems and wreck the hard drive, leaving this code behind."
He scratched his head. "But I only made it as a joke with Brandon. Never actually used it."
Adeline, sitting at the dining table, clenched her hands silently.
She looked at Blake. "Did you teach Bennett this program too?"
Blake nodded, then paused. "So, which surveillance system got hacked?"
"The code's impressive." Jasper didn't answer Blake's question but instead gave him a nod. "Can you crack your own code?"
Blake sighed and plopped down on a dining chair.
"I can't."
This had been bugging him for a while. Every time he tried to perfect the code, he forgot to leave a backdoor for himself.
When others used his code against him, he was stuck.
Seeing Blake down, Lauren smiled and tried to cheer him up. "Come on, Blake, don't be too hard on yourself. It just shows you're really good. Your only competition is yourself!"
Blake sighed. "I'm not that great. When I was abroad, I met someone even better who almost broke through my firewall."
Suddenly, something clicked in Blake's mind.
"Mr. Foster, do you have a top-notch hacker on your team?"
He remembered facing a hacker who almost tore through all his defenses in under an hour. If he hadn't quickly switched his IP address, he would've been toast!
Jasper paused mid-bite and looked up at Blake, his expression unreadable. "No."
"There has to be!" Blake insisted, biting his lip and staring at Jasper.
"I ran into him, and I couldn't beat him at all!"
He continued, "If you get that person to help, maybe we can recover the footage! My code just hides it!"
After a moment of silence, he added, "If you could introduce me to that expert, that would be even better!"
Jasper gave a faint smile. "You already know him."
Just as Blake was about to ask more, the villa's door burst open.
A flustered Ryan rushed in, holding a laptop and several hard drives. He hurried over and placed them on the coffee table.
"Sir, I brought all the damaged hard drives. I also got the highest-performance laptop for you."
Jasper calmly put down his knife and fork, stood up, and walked over to the sofa.
As he opened the laptop, he said, "Blake, come here."
Blake frowned, not moving. "Why?"
"Don't you want to learn how to crack your own code?" Jasper's words barely left his mouth before Blake jumped off his chair and rushed over.
Jasper connected the damaged hard drives to the laptop, his fingers flying over the keyboard with practiced ease.
Blake sat beside him, eyes glued to the screen. Finally, he was completely in awe.
It turned out the skilled hacker was Jasper himself! This revelation made Blake so excited he almost jumped off the sofa!
The problem that had been bugging him for days was effortlessly solved by Jasper's skills! Jasper, this jerk, was actually a genius!
Adeline watched from the dining table, feeling a mix of emotions as she saw Blake's excitement and Jasper's focused coding.
"Did you really crack it that fast?"
Ten minutes later, Blake stared at the screen in shock. Hearing his voice, Adeline and Lauren quickly came over.
The family of four gathered around the screen as Jasper played the surveillance footage.
In the footage, a little boy who looked exactly like Blake appeared.
Lauren instinctively covered her mouth.
"Is that Bennett?"
