Chapter 403 Shouldn't You Apologize to Her?
The paint on the easel went flying, splattering all over Adeline, and the metal tools nearby gave her arm a nasty cut.
Lucia's eyes went wide, and she blurted out, "Adeline!"
"It's nothing," Adeline shrugged it off, grabbing a tissue to dab at the blood on her arm. She shot a glance at Jasper, who was holding Luna and giving her the stink eye.
She smirked, unsure if Luna was hurt or if her crew had done something to her, but certain that she definitely got hit and hurt by Jasper
Not that he noticed. All he saw was Luna.
Adeline's smirk grew, and she looked at Jasper with pure mockery. "So, Mr. Foster, what do you think my crew and I did to Ms. Jones?"
The sarcasm in her voice made Jasper's brows knit together.
He looked down at Luna in his arms and asked softly, "What happened?"
Luna just sobbed in his arms.
She could've told him before that Adeline and her crew had wronged her.
But now, she seemed too upset to talk.
A flicker of worry crossed Jasper's face.
He couldn't tell if Luna was faking it or if she was really having a meltdown.
If she was just acting out of anger, fine. But if she was genuinely having an episode, she might need to go back to the hospital to make sure her emotions weren't messing with her health.
Jasper looked up, his eyes tired and angry as he stared at Adeline. "What the hell happened?"
"Mr. Foster," Robert, standing next to Adeline, adjusted his glasses before she could speak. "This might not actually be Adeline's fault."
"A few of us saw Ms. Jones sneak into Adeline's office when she wasn't around and put something in her water."
He pointed to the cup in his hand. "We don't know what Ms. Jones put in it, though."
Before Robert could finish, Jasper let go of Luna and stormed over to Robert, snatching the cup.
Everyone watched, stunned, as Jasper took a swig from the cup.
The whole office was dead silent.
Jasper set the half-empty cup back on the table with a smirk. "Drugged? This stuff's pretty sweet."
Just then, Ryan walked in with a doctor.
The doctor checked out the cup and even dipped a finger in to taste it.
"It's vitamins," the doctor said, looking around the room with a bit of exasperation. "Just regular old vitamins. Who told me it was poison?"
With that, the doctor left.
The office was silent.
Lucia and Robert exchanged looks, suddenly at a loss for words.
Who would've thought Luna would sneak into Adeline's office early in the morning just to put vitamins in her cup?
Luna finally spoke up, "I just thought that on my first day at work yesterday, I had so many unpleasant encounters with Miss Wilson."
Her voice was shaky, barely holding back a sob. "Every time I drink, if I don't have a hangover soup, I get a killer headache the next morning."
"I thought, since we're all girls, Ms. Wilson might be the same."
"Last night, after I drank, Jasper made me a hangover soup, but maybe Ms. Wilson didn't have anyone to take care of her."
She bit her lip, her voice soft and fragile. "So I wanted to do something nice for Ms. Wilson, like sneak some vitamins into her cup so she wouldn't feel awful."
Luna's words made Adeline narrow her eyes.
On the surface, Luna seemed to be explaining why she put vitamins in Adeline's cup, but really, she was showing off that Jasper took care of her last night and implying that Adeline was a sad sack with no one to look after her when she was drunk.
She was also painting herself as considerate and caring.
Others might just hear Luna bragging about Jasper's care.
But to Adeline, it had a whole other layer of meaning.
Last night, Luna had already sent her a video of Jasper making her hangover soup.
Now she was rubbing it in again, clearly as a form of provocation and challenge.
Adeline smiled. "Thanks for your concern, Ms. Jones."
"Even though I drank last night, I wasn't entirely without someone to care for me."
She raised an eyebrow and glanced at Jasper. "Mr. Foster can make hangover breakfast?"
Adeline's words made Jasper's face darken.
Jasper said, "Of course I can."
"But I bet it doesn't taste good, right?" Adeline's voice and gaze were dripping with mockery. "I've seen Mr. Foster's cooking skills."
Then she turned to look at Luna with fake sympathy. "I've heard Ms. Jones isn't in great health. It must be tough for you to drink Mr. Foster's hangover breakfast."
Luna bit her lip, a flash of resentment in her eyes.
But she still smiled at Adeline. "It's not hard."
"Even though the taste wasn't great, it was Jasper's heartfelt gesture, and I was really touched."
Adeline's lips curled into a cold smile. " Mr. Foster and Ms. Jones have a really sweet thing going on."
Her sarcastic tone made Jasper's brows furrow deeply.
Seeing the displeasure in Jasper's eyes, Luna bit her lip, her voice trembling with fake grievance. "Ms. Wilson, do you think I'm deliberately saying these things to you?"
"I didn't mean to brag about my relationship with Jasper. Please don't think that."
"I just wanted to explain why I put vitamins in your cup. I really didn't mean any harm."
As Luna spoke, tears silently fell again. "I just wanted to care for you, but I know you dislike me, so I did it secretly."
"Who knew you'd think of me this way."
She wiped her tears and looked up at Jasper with a sob. "Jasper, am I really that annoying?"
Jasper furrowed his brows, walked over, and pulled Luna into his arms, then looked up coldly at Adeline and the people behind her.
He said coldly, "Adeline, Luna meant well, but you and your crew accused her of drugging you. Don't you think you owe her an apology?"
