Chapter 35 An Unexpected Job
This outcome not only shocked Adeline but also left Molly stunned.
What's going on?
She had just transferred the funds to the company using her personal account. How did it instantly transform into the company account?
But now is not the time to ponder over this.
Molly composed herself and turned to slap the manager's face again. "You are lucky you are dealing with the company's finances; otherwise, I would have been falsely accused by you!"
After experiencing such a turn of events, the manager finally understood Molly's intention and could only cooperate with her reluctantly. "How can something like this go through your personal account?"
Molly smirked triumphantly and turned to Adeline. "This proves my innocence, doesn't it?"
Adeline looked at Molly, wondering where things went wrong.
The records given by Bennett couldn't be fake.
She shifted her gaze to Jasper, who was standing by.
If it wasn't Bennett's mistake, then it was intentional on Jasper's part.
He deliberately made Ryan say that the transfers were made through the agency's accounts.
All of this was to clear Molly's name!
Jasper glanced coldly at the manager. "Now that things have been cleared up, call the agency and tell them to stop."
The manager and Molly exchanged glances.
Quietly, she picked up Molly's spare phone from the table and dialed the agency's number.
"Stop the online speculation."
"Why?" The other side seemed annoyed. "Haven't we met Miss Collins's requirements yet?"
Hearing the mention of Miss Collins, the manager quickly covered the phone's receiver, preventing the other person's voice from leaking out. "Stop when you're told to stop!"
She hung up the phone and placed it back on the table. "Mr. Foster, it's been taken care of."
"Mhm." Jasper scanned the phone on the table.
Molly hastily stood in front of the phone and said, "Jasper, don't worry. I'll report this to the agency and fire this irresponsible manager!"
"She is not irresponsible." The man's deep, unreadable eyes glanced coldly at the manager. "She is too responsible."
Adeline observed their conversation and sneered silently in her heart.
Her guesses were right.
Why would Jasper expose Molly for her?
It was all to protect Molly.
Bringing her to Molly's house was just a show of catching her in the act, but the ultimate goal was to demonstrate his favoritism toward Molly.
It wasn't really necessary.
Even if Molly generously admitted to doing it, Adeline is just a maid now, and he can't do anything to her.
But he insisted on putting up this act to disgust her.
Indeed, these two people are still the same as six years ago: arrogant, indifferent, and hypocritical.
She glanced at the time. "Mr. Foster, Miss Collins, it's about time. When I arrived, Lauren was napping, but she should be awake now. I won't stay any longer, sorry."
After saying that, she didn't even bother to look at the two of them again. She just left.
Molly watched her leave, and a hint of satisfaction emerged on her face. Even though she didn't know why the account for the transfer became the company's account, she still won!
How could a mere maid dare to challenge her? Overestimating herself!
"Molly." Suddenly, a deep male voice resounded, bringing Molly's thoughts back.
She restrained her arrogance and turned to look at Jasper. "Jasper, what's wrong?"
Despite her warm reception, Jasper remained cold and unmoved.
After a while, the man narrowed his eyes and said, "I don't want to see something like this again. Take care of yourself."
With that, he turned and left with long strides. Ryan followed him too.
"Ryan." Sitting back in the car, Jasper leaned against the luxury leather seat, and his long fingers gently rubbed his throbbing temple.
"How long have you been by my side?"
Ryan paused. He started the car and answered, "It's been six years, sir."
"Hmm." Jasper tilted his head back, tightly closed his eyes, and asked, "I remember you have a girlfriend, right?"
"Yes." Ryan suddenly had more to say when it came to his girlfriend. "We were classmates in college and have been together for more than eight years. We recently started talking about marriage, so she's not just a girlfriend now. She's my fiancée."
The man in the back seat smirked, revealing a cold smile. "Does your fiancée know that you like Molly so much?"
The man's words made Ryan so nervous that he almost drove the car off course.
In a panic, he pulled over to the side of the road and looked at Jasper through the rearview mirror, his face pale. "Sir, I..."
"Is it true that the transfer was made from the company's account?"
Jasper still hadn't opened his eyes, and his voice was light and airy, but it weighed heavily on Ryan.
"I made a mistake."
Ryan bit his lip, knowing that he couldn't hide anything from Jasper's penetrating gaze. He lowered his head and said, "Please let me explain."
Jasper opened his eyes, and his sharp, hawk-like gaze locked onto Ryan's eyes.
That gaze sent shivers down Ryan's spine.
After taking a deep breath, he looked into Jasper's eyes and said, "I helped Miss Collins because I felt sorry for her."
"Is she pitiful?" Jasper questioned.
"Miss Collins is your fiancée," Ryan sighed. "If it wasn't absolutely necessary, why would she, as an engaged woman, be so afraid of a maid? Why would she even resort to starting rumors to try to get rid of her?"
Jasper looked at him through the rearview mirror, a cold curve forming at the corner of his lips. "She's paranoid and wants to blame others."
"It's because you haven't given her a sense of security," Ryan continued against the man's icy gaze. "And, sir, haven't you noticed?"
"Ever since Miss Lauren returned, Adeline started taking care of her at Blue Bay. Your attitude toward Miss Collins has taken a complete 180-degree turn. Sometimes, I even feel that you treat Adeline, someone you've only recently met, better than your own fiancée."
He paused for a moment before adding, "Don't you think you've been overly kind to Adeline?"
"No other maid at Blue Bay has ever received such treatment," Ryan asserted.
Jasper raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"
