Chapter 779 Oliver Fainted
Adeline hugged Mia tightly as she rushed out of the villa.
The two women embraced, touching each other's faces and joking about how much weight they had lost. Then Adeline turned to look at Oliver.
"Mia, Oliver says he has a headache. Think you could give him a massage?"
Mia frowned, glancing coldly at Oliver, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
"If Mr. Phoebe has a headache, he should probably go to the hospital."
"My massage skills are for normal people."
Her words implied that Oliver wasn't normal.
Oliver's eyes narrowed slightly.
His hand, which was resting on the car door, paused before he forcefully shut it.
He had planned to leave after Adeline went inside.
But after Mia's comment, he suddenly didn't want to leave.
Oliver gave a dismissive smile, looking at Mia.
"Then I definitely shouldn't go to the hospital."
"I'd like to experience the massage that 'normal people' get to enjoy."
With that, Oliver strode into the villa.
Mia stood there, watching Oliver's tall, imposing figure, her brows furrowing deeply.
"Mia..."
Adeline had only thought about Mia's ability to help with headaches, not realizing how strained Mia and Oliver's relationship had become.
"It's fine." Mia sighed, pulling Adeline inside.
"It's just a head massage. I'll pretend I'm massaging a block of wood."
With that, Mia instructed a servant to prepare a guest room.
"I'll go help Oliver with his headache. You wait for me upstairs; it will only take half an hour."
After giving Adeline a brief instruction, Mia led Oliver to the guest room.
Adeline obediently went to the upstairs terrace, sitting where Mia had been, gazing at the moon.
She looked at the moon, memories flooding back of the times she and Jasper had watched the moon from a hotel near the amusement park in Radiance Springs... Nostalgia washed over her, and Adeline closed her eyes, filled with melancholy.
Back then, all she could think about was sleeping with Jasper and getting pregnant to cure Blake's illness.
But who could have imagined that after Blake recovered, she and Jasper would end up like this... Just then, Adeline's phone rang.
She glanced at the time, her pupils contracting sharply.
It was Blake's number!
Why would Blake be calling her now?
Something must be wrong!
Adeline answered immediately.
As soon as the call connected, Lauren's tearful voice came through.
"Mommy, Blake... Blake fainted!"
"Daddy's not here, and Mr. Gonzalez took Nova out to gather herbs!"
"We can't reach Daddy or Mr. Gonzalez. You need to come quickly!"
Lauren's words made Adeline's heart clench.
She bit her lip, rushing downstairs while anxiously asking, "How is Blake now?"
"Not good!"
Lauren sobbed, "Mr. Gonzalez told us not to go to the hospital unless it's life-threatening."
"Bennett and I are too scared to call an ambulance. Bennett is trying to contact Mr. Gonzalez and Mr. Stonehaven."
"I'm calling you... Mommy, please hurry!"
Adeline's anxiety spiked. She was about to knock on Oliver and Mia's door when she heard the sounds of heavy breathing and Mia's tearful voice from inside, "Oliver, you jerk!"
"If you don't take responsibility, I'll—" Mia's threat was cut off as Oliver silenced her with a kiss, muffling her words.
Then, Oliver's deep voice broke the silence, "I'll take responsibility for you, for life!"
Adeline froze.
Her hand, poised to knock, stopped mid-air.
After a moment, she blushed and turned away, heading downstairs while comforting Lauren on the phone and getting into the car.
"Driver, to Swan Villa, quickly!"
On the way from Magnolia Estate to Swan Villa, Adeline leaned back in the car, staring out the window, her mind in turmoil.
One moment, she worried about Blake and Lauren.
The next, she regretted bringing Oliver to Mia's place tonight.
Oliver already had a son, Joseph, and according to Joseph, Oliver had an unforgettable first love.
But now, with Mia...
Adeline rubbed her aching temples.
How did things end up like this?
Suddenly, she realized something was off.
"Driver, this isn't the right way, is it?"
Though she had never been to Swan Villa, she knew that from Magnolia Estate, you could take the outer ring road of Oceancrest City to get there directly.
Why was the driver taking a detour?
Adeline's question made the driver pause.
After a moment, he tapped his forehead, "Ms. Phoebe, I just took the back roads out of habit, but don't worry, I can get you to Swan Villa quickly."
"I know this route well! I've driven it many times before!"
Adeline frowned, looking out the window, "Does Oliver always take the back roads to Magnolia Estate?"
"Not Mr. Phoebe, Mr. Foster."
The driver sighed, gripping the steering wheel as he spoke, "Mr. Foster used to come to Magnolia Estate to see you. He was weak back then, and I drove him."
"The Torres family was always hunting him down. We took the main roads a few times, but each time we were ambushed by assassins, so we started taking the back roads."
He sighed again, "But even the back roads weren't foolproof. We were often intercepted by the Torres family's hired killers."
"But we got used to it. We know these back roads well now!"
"Look at this road I'm taking you on..."
He pointed to a damaged guardrail being repaired by the roadside.
"Here, this is where Mr. Foster crashed and injured his back while driving to Magnolia Estate to see you."
Adeline was stunned.
Listening to the driver and looking at the broken guardrail outside, her mind went blank.
"Are you sure it was the Torres family chasing Jasper?"
"Of course."
The driver sighed, "Maybe they were furious about Mr. Foster disrupting the engagement party? But it was brutal. Several times, they used guns and knives, showing no mercy. Our Phoebe family isn't that ruthless."
Adeline bit her lip, recalling Jasper bandaging his wounds outside her building and his claims that Brandon had sent people to kill him... She had always thought Jasper was exaggerating, slandering Brandon.
But now... the Phoebe family's driver wouldn't lie for Jasper, would he?
Her hands twisted together tightly.
How could this be... Brandon was so gentle and kind, how could he do such a thing?
Meanwhile, at the Phoebe Mansion.
In the darkness, two bodies were entwined...
