Chapter 137 Where Is My Biological Sister

Faced with reporters brandishing their cameras and microphones, Adeline furrowed her brows.

How did these reporters find their way to Violet's building?

The only people who knew she spent the night at Violet's place were Violet's boyfriend, Ethan Sterling, and Jasper, as well as the Collins family at the police station's door last night.

Jasper had no reason to humiliate her like this.

So, this was most likely Molly's doing.

With a snort of derision, she considered her sister's dedication to causing trouble fresh out of the gate.

Smiling lightly, she gracefully brushed her hair aside. "I'm sorry, but these questions should be directed at Mr. Foster. "

"Indeed, I've gone public with my relationship with Mr. Foster, and his ex-wife has returned."

"Whether we break up or whether I continue to work at the Foster Group, isn't it up to Mr. Foster to decide? "

"Do you want me to give you Mr. Foster's address?"

Her poised and sardonic retort silenced the encircled reporters.

"I'm off to work if there's nothing else."

With that, she grabbed her purse strap and left the reporters' circle with composure.

As soon as Adeline stepped into a taxi, her phone rang.

It was Jasper.

She hesitated for a moment before answering.

"I saw the news."

The man's voice on the other end was still deep and indifferent. "I've sent Ryan to deal with it."

She replied coolly, curving her lips, "Thank you, Mr. Foster."

The line went quiet for a while.

"I wanted to see you last night, but your friend said you were asleep."

Turning her gaze to the car window, she said, "If you have something to say, Mr. Foster, please say it over the phone."

Jasper sighed faintly, "Stella is back. There's no need for you and me to continue this charade."

"Thank you for looking after Lauren and Bennett all these years. "
"Stella and I will take good care of them," heI assured.

"You should probably avoid seeing them from now on. "

"Kids bounce back. They attach easily, and they let go the same way. I hope they'll settle in well with Stella and gradually come to accept her as their real mom."

"As for your job at Foster Group, keep it up; Lauren's tutoring—you don't have to worry about that anymore. I'll find another teacher."

Adeline pinched her phone between her fingers, listening to Jasper's directives, a laugh bubbling at the edge of her throat just as much as a sob threatened to spill out.

She had wanted to come back to secure a donation from Jasper for Blake's treatment.

But who could have predicted that she'd end up, through a strange twist of fate, playing the part of the stepmom who'd whisked away the children?

And now, she was facing a forced separation from the kids she had cared for over six years.

She closed her eyes and remained , silent for a long time, then let out a soft chuckle. "Okay."

After hanging up the call, she felt the tears at the corners of her eyes.

Waking up that morning, she had found a stream of lengthy voice messages from Blake, Bennett, and Lauren, thoughtful notes they'd prepared for fear she'd be heartbroken, wanting to cheer her up.

The more sensible they were, the less she could rein in her emotions.

She needed to be a competent mother.

What was meant to be simple had only gotten messier.

And even now, she couldn't make Molly pay for what she'd done.

At work, Adeline could feel the whispers and pointed fingers behind her back, but she didn't care anymore about what jokes they were making.

Staying with Foster Group was her only option now.

She buried herself in work all day, not allowing a moment's rest.

In the evening, exhausted, Adeline trudged to the bus stop.

A car pulled up in front of her, and Molly's smirking face appeared as the window rolled down. "I'm off to study in Europe tomorrow. How about a farewell coffee?"

Adeline turned away, uninterested. "No thanks."

"Not even if it's about your origins?"

"What origins?"

"I knew you'd bite."

Molly's lips curved in a knowing smile. "Come on, it's not like I'm going to bite you."

...

Molly took Adeline to a nearby café.

"Out with it," Adeline said, sitting down and taking a deep breath, her gaze icy as it fixed on the woman across from her.

Molly took a leisurely sip of her coffee. "I was going to give you some time to adjust..."

Setting down her cup, she continued, "You're curious about your origins, aren't you? Thinking maybe you're not really your parents' child?"
Adeline's brow furrowed as she remained silent.

"It makes sense you feel that way. After all, for years, our parents treated you like an adopted daughter rather than their own. "

"But the reality is the exact opposite."

Molly shifted to a more comfortable position on the couch. "I'm not their biological child."

The hand that Adeline had wrapped around her coffee mug suddenly froze.

It was a long moment before she found her voice again. "How is that even possible?!..."

Their parents had always doted on Molly, cuddling her like the jewel of the family.

Anything that was the best, the most expensive, was purchased for Molly's enjoyment.

As the older sister, Adeline was always left with Molly's hand-me-downs.

And now Molly was claiming she wasn't her their biological sister!?

"It's not like I'm not related by blood at all," Molly clarified.

She raised her hand, caressing the porcelain mug, "I am the biological daughter of our father."

"We are half-sisters, sharing the same father. "

"Collins Geoffrey had an affair. My mother and Helen were pregnant at the same time."

"While pregnant, my mother had a falling out with Collins Geoffrey. As soon as I was born, she abandoned me."

"How could Collins Geoffrey bear to see me suffer outside the family?"

"So, he switched your real sister with me. I became Miss Collins, the second daughter of the Collins family, and your biological sister was sent to an orphanage."

Adeline sat frozen, chills running down her spine.

So the Molly whom Helen had loved and defended for so many years was the child of a mistress?

Taking a deep breath, Adeline bit her lip, "Molly, one shouldn't make wild claims about their origins."

"Don’t youYou don't believe me?"

Molly's lips curled into a sly smile as she pulled out two DNA test reports.

One between Molly and Helen, and .t

The other is between Molly and another woman.

The reports showed no maternal link between Molly and Helen but confirmed a match with the other woman.

Molly elegantly lifted her coffee cup to her lips again. "I'm flying to Europe tomorrow to find my biological mother; that's why I came to tell you all this."

Staring down at the reports in her hands, Adeline bit her lip so hard it could bleed.

"Then where is my real sister?"

Molly shrugged, "How should I know? I'm not omniscient."

She stood up, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

"Dear sister, this looks like aour last farewell."

Adeline remained seated, staring at Molly's retreating figure, her heart a tangle of emotions.

Her father had been unfaithful.

Molly was not her real sister.

Where, then, was her true sister?
Abruptly, the image of that woman who had appeared recently, named Stella, flashed before herhis eyes.
