Chapter 553 I Have Never Not Cared About Them

Adeline clutched her phone, her voice icy. "Luna, are you serious?"

There was a pause before Luna laughed. "You idiot, you still don't get it, do you? Fine, it's better if you never know. You don't deserve to know! Just remember this: if I die, I'm taking Blake with me!"

With that, Luna hung up.

Adeline stood there, her heart pounding. She turned to Jasper, panic in her eyes. "Luna said she went to find Blake. Where is he?"

Yesterday, Adeline thought Jasper had sent Blake and Lauren to that juvenile correctional facility he mentioned, but he denied it. So where were the kids now?

Seeing the fear in Adeline's eyes, Jasper looked away. "They're with Grandma at the old house in the countryside. Ryan just called; Luna left the city two hours ago, heading that way."

Adeline almost collapsed. That meant while she and Jasper were at Scott's accident scene, Luna had already escaped and headed straight for Jasper's old house!

Thinking about it made Adeline's legs weak. Luna had said she had no way out and wanted Blake to die with her. Two hours had passed; she must be almost there by now.

Adeline took a few steps back, panic setting in. She remembered when Bennett had an accident. He wasn't with her, and she couldn't get to him in time. Bennett and Sebastian had to handle it themselves, almost leading to a tragedy. They were lucky to escape.

But what about this time? Adeline was two hours away from the old house by car. Was she going to watch Blake and Lauren fall into Luna's hands from afar?

She grabbed Jasper's arm. "We need to go now. If we speed up, we might make it in time!"

Even if they couldn't, she had to try!

Jasper saw the determination in Adeline's eyes and nodded. "Alright."

Ryan, who had rushed over, heard their conversation and frowned. "Mr. Foster, it's pouring rain outside. In this weather, the car can't possibly speed up."

Ryan looked out the window at the heavy rain. "The weather bureau said this is a typhoon-induced, once-in-a-century rainstorm. They advised everyone to stay home. Traveling in a typhoon is already risky; speeding up is out of the question. Otherwise, we won't even make it to your countryside house; we'll be stuck on the road!"

Ryan turned to Adeline. "Adeline, you just witnessed a horrific car accident. Do you really want to take such a big risk?"

"Enough!" Jasper cut him off coldly. "Do as Adeline says."

Ryan frowned, looking at Jasper. "Mr. Foster, we need to be rational in this extreme weather."

"Your son and daughter aren't in danger, so of course, you can stay rational!" Adeline snapped, her anxiety and anger boiling over. "Ryan, do you want Jasper and me to watch Blake and Lauren fall into danger again? Do you want us to repeat the tragedy from a few months ago?"

Adeline's words came out in a near scream.

Ryan froze for a moment, then nodded. "I'll make the arrangements."

With that, he turned and left.

Jasper glanced at Adeline, who was holding back tears, and walked over, putting his arm around her shoulders. "Don't worry. Even if it means risking everything, we'll do whatever it takes to save Blake and Lauren."

If it weren't for them, Blake and Lauren wouldn't be in such danger now. As parents, they couldn't do much for their children, but they should try their best.

Soon, Ryan had the car ready. It was a convoy of heavy-duty SUVs, fully equipped with all necessary tools and supplies for any emergency situation.

Jasper, still wearing the blood-stained clothes from Scott's accident scene, pulled Adeline into the car. He used to be a clean freak. Now, he didn't even want to change clothes, just to catch up with Luna and see Blake and Lauren sooner.

The car started. In the storm, the convoy of SUVs sped down the city's roads.

Sitting in the car, Jasper tightly held Adeline's uninjured hand. "Don't worry. We're dealing with extreme weather; Luna must be facing it too. It takes four to five hours to drive from Radiance Springs to the old house; Luna must still be on the road. We can definitely catch up."

Adeline nodded, silently withdrawing her hand from his. "Thank you, Mr. Foster, for the comfort."

Jasper's hand awkwardly hung in the air, his fingers still in the position of holding hers. His eyes darkened slightly.

He looked up at Adeline's face. "I'm not just comforting you; I'm comforting myself."

Adeline closed her eyes, smiling bitterly. "You are worried about my children too?"

Jasper's heart tightened. He looked at her with complex eyes. "Of course, they're my children too."

Adeline said, "But you never cared about them before."

Jasper didn't cover the medical expenses for the kids. After Blake's surgery, he stayed with Luna the whole time. Even in the two months after Blake's surgery, he never went to Blue Bay to see him.

Jasper indeed didn't lie to her; he didn't send the kids to that juvenile correctional facility. But he confiscated their communication tools and had Lily take the two kids to his old home where even getting a signal was difficult.

Since getting in the car, Adeline had been calling Lily's phone. But it was always out of signal.

Adeline couldn't reach Blake or Lauren; she couldn't even confirm Luna's location. Her anxiety and worry made it impossible for her to stay calm, let alone not blame Jasper.

Adeline's words made Jasper's heart sink heavily. After a while, he turned his face to look out the car window. "That's not true. Whether it's Blake, Lauren, or the late Bennett, I never..."

"Really?" Adeline sneered. "Then why don't you take this opportunity to explain to me, Mr. Foster. Why did you find a new girlfriend and even move in with Luna shortly after Bennett's accident? And explain why, during Blake's most critical surgery, you were with Luna the whole time?"
