Chapter 563 Is He Her Boyfriend?
Jasper gripped his phone, eyes narrowing. "Who did she invite?"
David on the other end paused for a moment.
"So Adeline didn't invite you or even tell you, did she?"
David's words made Jasper's face darken. "I asked who she invited."
David chuckled. "If you weren't invited, you don't get to know."
Jasper's forehead veins twitched. "Seems like you forgot whose turf Radiance Springs is."
Jasper's icy tone finally made David stop laughing. He cleared his throat. "From what I know, it's just Violet, Mia, and a few of your employees."
David added, "And Vikram."
Jasper's eyes grew colder. "Got it."
He hung up, placing the phone back on his desk, and rubbed his aching temples.
After a moment, he picked up the internal phone. "Send Lucia to my office."
Two minutes later, Lucia nervously knocked on the door.
"Mr. Foster, you wanted to see me?"
"Yeah."
Jasper, always cold and stern, glanced at Lucia and pointed to the sofa. "Have a seat."
Lucia was taken aback. Jasper was always cold to all the women in the company except Adeline. Today, he was being polite.
Lucia had been with the company for a while and had never received such treatment.
She bit her lip and sat on the sofa, feeling extremely nervous.
"Mr. Foster, is there something you need to tell me?"
Jasper leaned back on the sofa, his eyes lightly sweeping over Lucia's nervous face. "I want to talk to you about something personal."
Lucia's heart almost jumped into her throat. "What is that?"
"Adeline is having a small dinner party at Blue Bay tonight. Did she invite you?"
In the company, Lucia had always been Adeline's right-hand woman. If Adeline were to invite people from the company, Lucia would definitely be on her list.
Lucia finally breathed a sigh of relief. So Jasper was looking for her because of Adeline.
Lucia took a deep breath. "She asked me to go to Blue Bay at seven tonight."
"Alright then."
Jasper picked up the phone. "Notify the finance department to increase Lucia's monthly salary by 30% from now on."
After hanging up, Jasper said calmly, seeing Lucia's flattered expression, "Now call Adeline and put it on speaker. Tell her you're bringing a friend tonight."
Lucia quickly nodded and made the call.
At that moment, Adeline and Vikram had just returned to Blue Bay after grocery shopping.
She got bumped into at the supermarket and ended up with some strong-smelling seafood sauce on her. Adeline headed straight to the upstairs bathroom as soon as she got back to the villa.
She specifically asked Vikram to take her phone to the living room to charge.
After all, Adeline couldn't let her friends be unable to reach her.
Vikram was lounging on the sofa with Adeline's phone. As soon as it had enough charge, it started ringing. The caller ID showed Lucia's name.
Without hesitation, Vikram answered.
When Vikram's clear voice echoed in Jasper's office, both Lucia and Jasper frowned.
Lucia started trembling with fear.
"This is Lucia. Who's that?"
"This is Vikram."
Vikram's voice had a hint of a smile. "We've met before. I'm Jasper's nephew."
Lucia glanced nervously at Jasper, who was radiating coldness. "Where's Adeline?"
"She's in the shower."
Vikram's voice was calm. "If you need something, just tell me."
The office atmosphere grew even more tense. Lucia could barely breathe.
"I want to bring a friend to dinner tonight. Is that okay?"
Vikram frowned. "Bring whoever you want. I'll let her know later."
Lucia quickly nodded. "Thanks!"
She hung up in a hurry, afraid Jasper might throw the phone out the window.
"Mr. Foster..."
The office air was so cold it could freeze someone. Lucia stood up timidly. "I'll take my leave now."
Without waiting for Jasper's response, she quickly left the office.
Jasper sat in his chair, eyes fixed on the door.
At Blue Bay, Adeline came out of the shower to find Vikram already in the kitchen, prepping ingredients.
Blake and Lauren had tried to help but were chased out by Vikram.
"Don't make a mess. Kids shouldn't be in a dangerous place like the kitchen. Go play!"
Seeing Vikram's bossy attitude, Lauren put her hands on her hips, fuming. "What's so great about knowing how to cook?"
She added, "You're already nineteen! If Bennett were here, you wouldn't be so cocky!"
Vikram frowned, unsure how to respond to Lauren.
He sighed and gently patted her head. "Alright, it's a happy day. Let's not bring up unhappy things."
Lauren frowned. "Is mentioning Bennett an unhappy thing? Bennett isn't dead!"
Adeline stood on the stairs, a hint of comfort in her eyes.
She used to think Bennett was really dead. Seeing Blake and Lauren firmly believe Bennett wasn't dead, she suddenly felt warm inside.
After tonight, she would tell them Bennett was still alive!
Their whole family would work together to find Bennett and help him regain his memory!
Vikram, unable to argue with Lauren, looked up to Adeline for help. "Can you control your daughter?"
Adeline smiled. "My daughter isn't wrong."
With that, she stepped into the kitchen, tying an apron and instructing Alice to take the kids to play in the backyard.
Vikram helped her. "By the way, Lucia called earlier and said she wanted to bring a friend tonight. I agreed."
Adeline responded lightly. Having one more guest wasn't a big deal.
However, she frowned. "Did Lucia say who she was bringing? Is it her boyfriend?"
Vikram thought for a moment. "Probably."
Adeline nodded. "Then set up a couple's table and meal for her and her boyfriend."
