Chapter 253 No Wonder Her Parents Don't Like Her!

Although Adeline didn't want to see Jasper, she still went upstairs and knocked on his door.

"Come in." Jasper's voice from inside was devoid of any emotion.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door and entered. "Mr. Foster."

Jasper glanced at her indifferently, gesturing for her to sit.

"I'll stand," Taking another deep breath, Adeline spoke calmly, "It's lunchtime already, so please get to the point."

She said this because she was afraid that Jasper had already uncovered something about Blake but was playing games with her.

At this point, she felt powerless to change anything.

If Jasper had indeed found out about Blake's existence, she just hoped he would make it quick with her.

Adeline's attitude, however, seemed like a tantrum to Jasper.

Jasper's deep eyes glanced at her lightly, "Are you still mad about this morning?"

Indeed, what Stella did in the morning was excessive.

He had only said a few words to her in front of everyone.

But after all, this was the company, and Stella was his wife.

He had to save face for Stella.

Adeline looked up at him, "You said the photo has been restored, and there is something to tell me, didn't you?"

Ignoring her attitude, Jasper handed her the restored photo.

Trembling slightly, Adeline took the photo, which had been restored excellently.

The damage caused by Stella's high heel was no longer visible, and the expert had even enhanced Blake's complexion to match Bennett's.

Looking at the photo, Adeline felt a myriad of emotions.

Before Blake fell ill, he had been just like this-healthy, vibrant, and carefree every day, but everything changed after he got sick.

"Regarding the photo, there is something I want to ask you." Jasper sat down and continued, "I once saw an album in your Willowcrest Terrace residence. Bennett appeared very sick in a hospital gown. After seeing the album, I took Bennett for a check-up, and the results showed that he wasn't ill at all. So I believed your explanation that he was in the hospital for a cold."

With that, Jasper stood up and pointed at the wristband on Blake's wrist in the photo. "But why, if it was nothing but a cold, was he in the hematology department?"

Adeline's breath caught in her throat.

She bit her lip and glanced at the photo.

Indeed, the words "hematology department" were visible on Blake's wristband.

Previously, when the words were unintentionally captured in the photo, Blake had skillfully hidden them using Photoshop.

At the time, Bennett and Lauren had praised his attention to detail.

But now, the words "hematology department" were clearly visible in the photo.

"The restoration expert did it." Seemingly understanding her confusion, Jasper's gaze remained steady. "He found traces of Photoshop on this photo, so I asked him to restore it."

"And that's how these surprising words came to light." With that, Jasper's deep gaze seemed to pierce through all of Adeline's thoughts. "Why did Bennett, as you said, have a cold but end up in the hematology department?"

Adeline closed her eyes.

After a moment, she took a deep breath and smiled, "Because I overreacted."

Raising an eyebrow, Jasper remained silent, just watching her.

Adeline chuckled lightly, "Once Bennett had a cold and had a nosebleed. I noticed that many leukemia patients have persistent nosebleeds before being diagnosed."

"So I was worried and took him to the hematology department for diagnosis." Adeline said calmly, "It turned out to be a false alarm."

She shrugged casually, "During winter, there are many cold-related cases, so the doctors kept us in the hematology department."

Jasper narrowed his eyes, "Is that so?"

"Of course." Adeline chuckled lightly, snatched the photo from him, and briskly left.

Jasper sat there, watching her retreating figure, his eyes slightly narrowed.

Echoing in his mind were the restoration expert's doubts, 'Why was only the department name photoshopped? Is there anything to hide?'

Jasper closed his eyes heavily.

If, as Adeline claimed, it was truly a misunderstanding due to certain reasons, there was no need to photoshop the department name.

A simple explanation would be enough, but they would rather go through all the trouble.

Opening his eyes, he once again flipped through Bennett's previous health report on the table.

What exactly were Adeline and Bennett hiding?

Adeline barely ate at lunch.

After lunch, she intended to return to her office for a nap. However, as she entered the design department, she saw Helen and Daniel.

They stood by Stella's side, eagerly watching her eat the meal they had brought, and said, "Stella, does it taste good? It used to be your favorite dish. We didn't care about you enough in the past. Rarely do you not resent us and even let Mr. Foster help us."

"Stella, what do you want to eat tomorrow? Tell us, and we'll make it for you." They added.

Listening to Helen and Daniel's fawning voices, Adeline furrowed her brow slightly.

The current Stella was using her past identity and face.

Seeing Helen and Daniel fawning over her, Adeline felt a mix of emotions.

Stella looked up and caught sight of Adeline at the door.

She smiled slightly and loudly greeted Adeline, "Adeline! Have you finished lunch? Do you want to come over and try my parents' cooking?"

Adeline furrowed her brow, and before she could respond, Helen snorted, "She doesn't deserve it."

"Yeah, Stella, this meal was specially prepared for you," Daniel said.

"Mom." Stella smiled wryly at Adeline and then at Helen and Daniel, "You don't know. This Adeline, although she has parents, they never love her and don't care for her."

"She has a sister, and her parents only have eyes for her sister, never for her. Her mother knows what she likes to eat but rarely cooks for her. Poor thing, isn't she?" Stella added.

Stella's words caused Helen to glare at Adeline coldly. "Pitiful people often have something despicable about them. Maybe her parents were not wrong."

"That's right, Stella. A gold-digger like her deserves it!" Daniel agreed.
