Chapter 115 She Knew Adeline All Along!

Lucia was immediately upset.“Ethan, are you kidding me?”

Hand over the position of head designer to Adeline, that woman?

Wasn't Ethan Foster supposed to be on her side?

Despite his apparent dislike for Adeline, he was not suppressing or firing her but instead promoting Adeline to take her place.

Had he lost her mind?

"No, I’m not."

Ethan Foster regarded Lucia coolly, "Give her your position."

Professional matters are just that, and personal issues are separate.

Even if he had suppressed Adeline and fired her, it wouldn't have affected Jasper's feelings for Adeline too much.

On the contrary, it would mean the Foster Group losing a master-level designer.

Moreover, Ethan Foster himself had initially brought Adeline into the group; now, it wouldn't be right for him to go back on his word.
The best course of action was to let Adeline contribute to the Foster Group while subtly diminishing her interest in Jasper!

With that thought, Ethan Foster glanced back at Lucia, "Not willing?"
"Of course not!"
Lucia was flustered. She positioned herself firmly between Ethan Foster and Adeline. "Ethan, I earned my position fairly and squarely through my merit! What skills does Adeline have? She's just riding on her relationship with Mr. Foster! She only deserves to be an assistant, an apprentice at best!"
"Really?"
Adeline finally let out a laugh at Lucia's haughtiness.
"Absolutely!"
When Adeline spoke up, Lucia let out a snort, "Isn't that the truth? You're nothing but a nepotism hire, a waste of space!"
But Adeline was now Jasper's woman.
If she had the talent for jewelry design, Jasper wouldn't have limited her to being a mere assistant.
No one who got a job through connections ever wanted to be stuck in a lowly position.
If Adeline was content being an assistant, didn't it prove her incompetence?

"Shut up!"
Ethan Foster furrowed his brows and reproached Lucia loudly, "If you have nothing wise to say, don't say anything at all! Step down from your role! Adeline will become the lead designer, and you will be the assistant!"
Grandma Foster had spoiled this distant relative of the Foster family far too much!
"I disagree!"
Lucia clenched her teeth and looked up at Ethan Foster defiantly. "If you want Adeline to have my job, fine. Let her develop a design that can surpass mine, and I will accept it wholeheartedly! If she can't, she should correct every flawed draft!"
"And what if she does come up with one?"
Suddenly, a deep male voice echoed from the hallway.
Lucia was taken aback.
Instinctively, she turned her head toward the sound.
A tall, imposing man stood leisurely by the door, dressed in a sharp black suit, his lips curled with a hint of cold amusement as he observed her.
"Mr. Foster!"
Lucia paused momentarily, then pursed, "If Adeline can do it, I'll let her take my place as head designer!"
"And then you'll be the assistant, correcting every design mistake?"
As Lucia's voice trailed off, Mia Turner hurried to speak up beside Adeline.

Lucia paled noticeably.

She whipped her head around, shooting Mia Turner a glare. "What's it to you!"

"I think it's a good suggestion."

Adeline gave a nonchalant shrug, retrieving a sketchpad and pencils from nearby. "What should I draw?"

She raised an eyebrow in Jasper's direction. "Remember the design proposal for Mr. Foster that I delivered yesterday morning? The one Director Lucia revised four times without meeting the mark? Should I give it a shot using my interpretation of the brief?"

She lowered her gaze, and her fingers danced rapidly across the paper.

Ethan Foster stood up excitedly and moved behind Adeline, watching her draw.

Initially, Lucia and the other design department employees wore disdainful looks.

This woman, all talk and no substance, they thought.

But...

As they caught a glimpse of the jewelry outline taking shape under Adeline's skillful strokes, they witnessed her mastery and distinctive composition approach.

They were astounded.

The office was silent for a moment, filled only by the sound of Adeline's pencil sketching on paper.

Everyone watched her hands intently.

Jasper was no exception.

His gaze rested on her hands, his eyes deepened, shades of melancholy seeping through.

Inexplicably, Adeline's silhouette emerged in his mind.

The Adeline from years past had also loved to draw.

She would sit in a sun-drenched room, open the window, and let the breeze flutter through the curtains behind her.

Sitting at her easel, her strokes flowed with ease and grace.

She enjoyed sketching various things: flowers from the garden and landscapes beyond the window.

But what she loved to sketch the most... was him.

His profile, his eyes and brows.

He, countless times, just like now, would hide in the furthest corner, watching her fiercely capture the images in her heart stroke by stroke.

Each time, he'd only watch after she had started and leave before she finished.

She would get so absorbed in her artwork that she never noticed his covert gaze.

Jasper's brow furrowed ever so slightly.

He needed to be versed in art.

Could everyone draw in the same manner, with the same habits?

This Adeline before him, her techniques, habits, and even the occasional quirks were identical to Adeline's of the past.

Jasper squinted thoughtfully.

He recalled something Adeline had mentioned before—she had intentionally mimicked Adeline's preferences and mannerisms.

But could one replicate another's drawing habits to such an extent?
The man furrowed his brows and pulled out his cell to shoot Ryan a message.

"Check again on all of Adeline's social media accounts and anything related."

"Dig up everything you can find on Adeline's art."

After the man sent his texts, Adeline's hands ceased their movement.

She had completed in just over an hour the drawing that Lucia would have needed two days to perfect.

And even more, her work boasted a precision and neatness that surpassed Lucia's.

"Excellent!" Ethan Foster stepped forward, examining the drawing meticulously. "Only a true master could achieve this!"

Adeline offered a subdued smile. "Thanks for the compliment."

Since Ethan Foster already knew her true identity, and Jasper was bound to find out sooner or later, Adeline didn't intend to keep it a secret any longer.

Moreover, being Moon didn't tie to who Adeline was.

She had hidden her identity initially to avoid drawing too much attention.

Lucia walked over, staring at Adeline's drawing, rendered speechless by the shock.

"You... You're..."

"She's Moon."

Before Lucia could finish her sentence, Ethan Foster interrupted her.

He sighed, "See why I insisted you give up your place to her?"

Lucia was stunned into silence.

Observing her reaction, Ethan Foster turned and glanced casually at Jasper, "She was Lauren's instructor in the design school."

Jasper's gaze snapped onto Adeline, his pupils constricting sharply.

Was she Lauren's design teacher from abroad?

The atmosphere around them grew tense in an instant.

Jasper narrowed his eyes, anger simmering as he approached Adeline step by step.

Finally, he stopped.

Looking down at her, his gaze was icy. "So you've known Lauren all along."

Lauren had known Adeline all along, too.
