Chapter 506 It's Truly a Medical Miracle
When Adeline was standing there, pale as a ghost and dead silent, Jasper's eyes turned even colder.
He was right. The person hugging that skinny guy behind the reef was Adeline.
He figured after Vikram bailed from Radiance Springs, Adeline would be lonely with no one to talk to.
But what happened? In less than half a day, she found someone else!
If he hadn't been in the corner of the beach making a call, he wouldn't have seen Adeline acting so carefree! She never used to be like this!
Thinking about all this, Jasper started to believe what Blake and Luna said about Adeline's mental state.
If she wasn't unstable, how could she do something so outrageous?
The coldness in Jasper's eyes made Adeline worry. She bit her lip and looked up at him. "What else did you see?"
Did Jasper see Sebastian's face? Did he know it was Sebastian?
But Adeline's nervousness meant something else to Jasper.
He squinted at her pale face, his eyes growing even colder.
Why was she so nervous? Could it be that her relationship with the guy behind the reef wasn't simple?
A flash of anger appeared in Jasper's eyes. "Looks like you really need to get your head checked!"
Adeline glared at him. "I told you, I'm not sick!"
She turned around and helped Ethan up with Violet. "If anyone's sick, it's you and Luna! If you came to the fireworks party together, why aren't you sticking together? If you were with her, she wouldn't have tried to kill herself, and it wouldn't have anything to do with us even if she did. You weren't there, so you don't know if she picked up the knife to kill herself or to hurt someone! Ethan got hurt trying to take the knife from her!"
Jasper frowned and finally noticed Ethan's torn white shirt sleeve.
Even though Ethan's arm was bandaged, the bloodstains on his clothes and the blood on the sand showed he was seriously hurt.
Jasper turned to Luna. "Luna, what happened?"
Seeing Jasper finally looking at her, Luna wiped her tears and spoke in a very hurt voice, "This Violet has been hostile to me since we first met; Jasper, you know that. I was just wandering around and accidentally ran into them. Violet started insulting me again. I couldn't take it and snapped back. Violet said that no matter how hard I tried, I could never be as important to you as Adeline."
As Luna spoke, she started to sob. "Jasper, you know my only reason for living now is to be with you and enjoy our time together. But Violet kept saying I had no place in your heart, and I couldn't take it, so I ran to the barbecue stand and picked up a knife to kill myself. But this Ethan, he thought I was going to hurt Violet and rushed over. And now, it has come to this."
After saying this, Luna was so weak from crying that she was practically leaning on Jasper. "Jasper, I know I'm being overly sensitive, but if anyone's to blame, it's not me."
Violet shouted, "You! You're slandering me! You're lying!"
Luna's words instantly infuriated Violet.
When did Violet ever say that Luna had no place in Jasper's heart?
In her fury, Violet had clearly said back then, "Be careful we find evidence of you faking illness!"
Then, Luna had gone straight for the knife.
At that time, both Violet and Ethan thought Luna was angry because of that and wanted to kill them to silence them, so Ethan had rushed to stop her!
But now, Luna was twisting their words!
Violet glared at Luna, her eyes full of anger. "I never mentioned Jasper! Whether you have a place in Jasper's heart or not, whether you're more important than Adeline, has nothing to do with me!"
Violet's harsh words made Jasper frown again. "Then what did you say?"
In her anxiety, Violet blurted out whatever came to her mind. "I said that Luna should be polite to Adeline in the future, or we would find evidence of her faking her illness!"
As soon as Violet said this, the air around them fell silent.
Jasper looked at Violet with a dark expression, then at Adeline. "Is this what you told your friend?"
Violet and Luna had almost no interaction, their only connection being Adeline.
So the things Violet said about Luna faking her illness must have come from Adeline.
Adeline was stunned, her hands silently clenching into fists at her sides.
She didn't have concrete evidence to prove Luna was faking her illness. If she contradicted Jasper now, it would seem like she was really investigating this matter.
But if Adeline didn't speak up, Luna might think it was just Violet's idea.
So Adeline could only remain silent.
Seeing her silence, Luna was secretly pleased. A flash of triumph appeared in her eyes, and she cried even harder in Jasper's arms. "Jasper, did you hear that? What does she mean by saying I'm faking my illness? If I could, who wouldn't want to be healthy? In this world, is there really anyone who would pretend to have a terminal illness and act like they have less than a year to live?"
After saying this, Luna seemed to have a fit, her breathing becoming rapid and her body going limp.
Jasper squinted at Adeline, then at Violet, about to say something when he suddenly noticed something wrong with Luna in his arms.
He looked down and saw Luna's pale face with her eyes tightly closed; his heart tightened.
Luna had been triggered by Violet and was having another episode!
Jasper snapped, "If anything happens to Luna, I won't let you off!"
Leaving this cold remark, Jasper picked Luna up and left in large strides.
Adeline stood there, quietly watching Jasper carry Luna away.
Finally, Adeline saw Jasper place Luna in the back seat of the car and then walk around to the driver's seat.
Adeline also saw someone outside the car window secretly throw something into the car. A slender white hand took it.
Adeline smirked coldly.
Wasn't that Luna in the back seat? Wasn't Luna unconscious? How could she catch something? What a medical miracle.
