Chapter 480 Could it be Jasper?
Mia groaned, "Seriously, you didn't have to drag me outta bed this early just to thank me, did ya?"
It was the crack of dawn, and Mia was slumped in her family's café, yawning like crazy. She took a sip of her coffee, still half-asleep, and grumbled to Adeline, who was sitting across from her.
Adeline gave a sly smile. "I didn't just call you out to thank you."
She whipped out her phone and handed it to Mia, showing her some pics Richard had sent her yesterday. "Check these out."
Mia's brow furrowed as she grabbed the phone, her eyes going wide. "Isn't that Molly?"
Back when Mia was digging into Thomas's disappearance, she had been tailing Molly. In the end, Molly tricked her, and Mia ended up stuck in a mental hospital in Molly's place for ages.
But wasn't Molly shipped off abroad by Jasper ages ago, supposedly never to return to Radiance Springs? How the heck was she at the Radiance Springs airport in these pics? And the little boy she's holding hands with, why does he look like a mini Lauren and Blake?
Adeline said, "Richard gave me these yesterday. This kid landed at Radiance Springs airport on the same flight as him; Molly picked him up outside. These pics were snapped two days ago. I had Blake check all the flights and trains leaving Radiance Springs in the past two days, plus the surveillance at all major exits; no sign of Molly and the kid leaving."
Mia paused. "So, you're saying they're still in Radiance Springs?"
Adeline nodded. "Yep."
She took a deep breath. "I need your help to find them."
When Adeline first got these pics yesterday, the first person she thought of was Jasper. She went straight to him.
After all, there were a ton of ties between Molly and Jasper; the kid Molly was holding looked just like the kid Adeline and Jasper had.
Mia asked, "What if she uses the kid to get close to you?"
"She can deal with the kid herself. I won't get involved." Jasper's convo with Luna from yesterday echoed in Adeline's head.
Adeline sighed deeply. Jasper was right. She could handle the kid's matters herself. In Jasper's eyes now, even Blake and Lauren weren't on his radar, let alone a kid who just looked like Blake.
But with just her, Blake, and Lauren, finding Molly and the kid in a big city like Radiance Springs was a tall order.
Since Jasper wouldn't help, Adeline had no choice but to turn to Mia.
Mia said, "Even if you didn't ask, as soon as I saw these pics, I would've helped you."
Mia took a deep breath and looked at Adeline seriously. "If it weren't for you, Thomas would have either conned me out of my inheritance and then killed me, or killed me in front of Grace and Mark. Adeline, without you, I wouldn't be who I am today. Your problem is my problem. I'll do everything I can to help you find Molly and the kid."
Her words warmed Adeline's heart.
Adeline lowered her head. "Actually, I already owe you a lot."
From the time Blake needed money for surgery to everything that happened later. Mia even flew back from abroad yesterday just to help her clear her name at the competition.
But thinking about what Mia did for her yesterday, Adeline couldn't help but look up at her. "I've been meaning to ask you, when did you get the evidence you presented at the competition yesterday?"
Mia frowned and glanced at Adeline. "Didn't you give me that evidence?"
Mia's words left Adeline stunned for a few seconds.
Adeline blinked, "Me?"
Before Mia dropped the bombshell yesterday, Adeline had no clue Luna was plotting against her. How could those videos and photos have come from her?
"Wasn't it you?" Mia looked just as puzzled. "I got an email two days ago, telling me to be at Radiance Springs on the day of the competition with the evidence to help you out."
She pulled out her phone. "The script for what I said at the competition was also in the email. It was so detailed; who else could it be but you? I just used what you gave me, read the script, and added a few touches."
Mia opened her email inbox on her phone. Sure enough, there were two emails. One was packed with video and photo files. The other was a long, anonymous letter.
Adeline took the phone, her mind blown, and read through the contents.
The sender not only sent the evidence to Mia anonymously but also predicted and analyzed what would go down yesterday.
The sender knew Adeline and Luna's situation inside out.
They knew how hard Adeline had worked for the competition and that Luna would definitely use the negative online rumors about Adeline to attack her.
So, the sender gave Mia all the countermeasures, telling her to get to the venue early and stay hidden until the right moment.
After reading all the emails, Adeline was floored. Who sent these anonymous emails? She had no clue about the evidence and hadn't sent anything to Mia!
Seeing Adeline's shocked face, Mia frowned. "Was it really not you?"
When Mia first got the emails, she was puzzled about who had sent them. After thinking it over, she figured the emails must have been from Adeline. Who else in Radiance Springs would care so much about Adeline's issues? Jasper? No way! Because the evidence implicated the person he cared about the most, Luna!
Adeline said, "It really wasn't me."
Adeline closed her eyes and thought hard but couldn't figure out who would do this for her.
So, she had no choice but to open the attachments in the email one by one, hoping to find some clue about the sender's identity. Finally, her eyes landed on the photos proving Luna's burn injuries. She had seen those photos before.
Suddenly, Adeline's eyes lit up! Weren't these the photos shown to her and Jasper by the doctor who treated Jasper's burns?
Thinking of this, she quickly saved the photos and stood up.
Adeline said, "Mia, I just thought of something. I need to check it out."
If she could find that doctor and ask if any other doctors had these photos recently, she might be able to trace the person who sent the emails to Mia and helped her gather the evidence!
Adeline rushed to the street, flagged down a cab, and headed to the hospital where Jasper was treated, finding the doctor.
The doctor was surprised by her question but answered with a smile. "I treated this case, and only I have the photos."
Adeline froze. "Who else has seen these photos?"
"Only you and Mr. Foster." The doctor adjusted his thick glasses. "However, after you left that day, Mr. Foster came back and said he needed the photos for something else. He notified the patient and bought the photos at a high price. If you want to see them now, it's out of the question."
The doctor's words made Adeline stiffen.
Besides the doctor and the patient, only she and Jasper had seen those photos. And Jasper had bought the photos.
So, a wild thought popped into her mind. Could the person who anonymously sent the emails to Mia, helping her deal with Luna, be Jasper?
