Chapter 887 Someone Is Using Her to Achieve Their Goals
Linda received treatment, but Adeline and Sebastian were still worried.
Linda's illness, combined with the afternoon's signing ceremony, was pushing Adeline to get back to Oceancrest City as soon as possible.
Adeline had no choice but to talk to Oliver about heading back early.
Before leaving, they visited the hospital room one last time.
Howard was still holding Zara's hand, talking non-stop.
He hadn't paused for a moment.
Even though his mouth was so tired that foam had started to form, he kept going.
A kind staff member handed him a glass of water, but he knocked it over, accusing the staff of trying to drown Zara, which he wouldn't allow.
Seeing Howard like this, Oliver had to remind Clio to arrange proper care for them again.
"Don't worry."
Clio smiled, "You're Sebastian's friends, and I feel partly responsible for Zara's illness."
"I'll take good care of them."
Her words made Oliver raise an eyebrow.
He glanced at Sebastian and then at Clio with a teasing look.
"You two make quite a pair."
Sebastian quickly waved his hand, "Oliver, don't joke around. How could I be a match for Dr. Ross?"
As soon as he said this, a hint of sadness appeared in Clio's eyes.
She smiled self-deprecatingly, "Yeah, don't joke about us."
After speaking, she closed the medical record in her hand, "I have other patients to attend to, so I won't see you off."
An ambiguous comment was simultaneously refuted by the two involved, making Oliver feel a bit awkward. He chuckled, "Well, Dr. Ross, we'll be leaving now. Goodbye."
After saying this, the three bid farewell to Clio and turned to leave together.
As they got into the car, Oliver suddenly frowned and looked around.
"Where's Jasper?"
Weren't there four of them? Where did Jasper go?
Sebastian chuckled, "He said since he's in Everglade City, he should visit an old friend, so he went to find Oscar."
Everglade City, the Wheeler Mansion.
Oscar took the documents Jasper handed over, his brows furrowing slightly.
"Investigating something from over twenty years ago is quite challenging for me."
"After all, I'm only in my twenties."
Jasper smiled faintly.
"I'm not even thirty."
"But I must get to the bottom of this. It's very important to me."
Oscar sighed.
"If Esther and Wilford's deaths had other causes or twists, the Phoebe family and the Foster family wouldn't have been fighting for so many years."
Even if he didn't know about the feud between the Foster family and the Phoebe family before, he couldn't be unaware of their conflict in Oceancrest City over the past year.
"I think what you need to do is not investigate the truth from back then, but let go of Adeline."
He looked up at Jasper.
"The reason you want to find another ending for what happened back then is simply because you can't let go of Adeline."
"She's just a woman. You can't forget her?"
Jasper took a sip of his coffee. "I really can't."
Oscar stared at Jasper's face for a long time.
Jasper was the most business-savvy, charismatic, and influential person he knew.
In his impression, Jasper never admitted defeat or showed weakness.
Yet he could easily say he couldn't forget, such a vulnerable statement.
After a while, Oscar sighed. "Good thing I don't like women."
Jasper smiled and elegantly put down his coffee cup.
"Consider it my obsession."
"You just need to help me investigate Kurt."
Why does he claim to be Zara's brother, and how did he become Fiona's friend's child?
Today, Ryan used all his connections and only found out that this man named Kurt, like Zara before she got married, was from Everglade City.
Maybe by digging into his past, we can clear up some things.
"Alright, I'll help you."
...
When Adeline, Oliver, and Sebastian got back to Oceancrest City, it was already noon.
While in the car, Tamsin kept calling.
In front of Oliver, Adeline didn't dare answer, so she awkwardly smiled and brushed it off as spam calls while texting Tamsin.
"You have no sense of time."
Even in texts, Tamsin was full of complaints.
"The signing ceremony is at two in the afternoon, and it's already noon."
"This signing is super important, so I prepped to style you, making sure you look perfect for the ceremony."
"Styling takes over an hour, and you need to review the script to avoid any mistakes during the ceremony, which also takes over an hour."
"Time's running out, and you're still not in Oceancrest City!"
Faced with Tamsin's barrage of messages, Adeline could only patiently reply that there was a family emergency.
But even so, Tamsin showed no sympathy for her situation.
"Get to me immediately when you arrive in Oceancrest City, don't waste a second!"
Looking at the messages on her phone, Adeline sighed helplessly.
Her collaboration with Tamsin had only started two days ago.
But she felt that with Tamsin, she wasn't the boss; Tamsin was.
Finally, the car entered Oceancrest City's downtown area.
After confirming Tamsin's location, Adeline asked the driver to stop the car.
"I need to go meet my friend."
Sebastian thought Adeline was going to visit Linda and was about to get out of the car when Adeline stopped him.
"I'll call you when I go see Linda. I have other things to take care of now."
Without explaining further, she got out of the car.
In the car, Oliver squinted at the direction Adeline left, then turned to his assistant.
"You get out too, and have someone follow her."
The assistant nodded and quickly got out of the car, following Adeline while making calls to find people.
Sebastian glanced at Adeline and then at Oliver.
"What are you..."
"Someone is using her to achieve their goals."
Oliver squinted his eyes.
Although he didn't know the other party's intentions, he absolutely wouldn't allow anyone to use the excuse of working for the Phoebe Group to disregard Adeline's well-being and make her do things she shouldn't.
Half an hour later.
When Oliver returned to the Phoebe Group's office, the assistant's tracking video had also been sent over.
"We don't know the identity of the woman in black yet. Her face was covered tightly, so we couldn't see her appearance."
"But we captured the woman next to her and are verifying her identity."
After listening to the assistant's report, Oliver squinted and opened the video.
Seeing the two women in the video, Oliver's breath instantly stopped.
