Chapter 399 I Don't Want You to Be Too Tired

"Adeline." Mia stared at the tanking stock prices, her heart racing like crazy.

She didn't know jack about economics, but even she could tell the White Group was going down in flames.

Right then, her phone buzzed. It was the acting CEO she’d hired to run the show. "Ms. White, we’re in deep trouble."

"Someone’s been going ham on our company for the past ten minutes."

"Not only are our stock prices nosediving, but our internal network is totally fried."

"The phones in external relations are blowing up, and all our partners are freaking out, wanting to bail on us."

After a bunch of tech mumbo jumbo that went over Mia’s head, the CEO finally said something she got. "If this keeps up, we’re gonna be bankrupt in five minutes."

Mia gripped her phone, her whole body shaking.

Earlier that afternoon, she’d asked Jason about how to transfer the group’s assets to someone else.

When Jason asked why, she said she wanted to give the group to Adeline.

Jason warned her, "You’re gonna piss off Jasper. If Jasper gets mad, you’re in for a world of hurt."

Mia had brushed off Jason’s warning.

She figured, being the third richest person in Radiance Springs, right after Jasper and Jason, there was no way Jasper could mess with her that fast.

But now, hearing the CEO talk about the group’s collapse and looming bankruptcy, she realized just how scary Jasper could be.

Mia instinctively glanced over at Jasper.

The intense vibe Jasper was giving off made Mia grit her teeth.

Adeline noticed Mia’s pale face and tense look. Her hands were clenching and unclenching.

Finally, she stepped up in front of Mia and stared Jasper down. "Mr. Foster, you’re doing all this just to stop me from taking Mia’s help, right?"

Adeline said, "Fine. I won’t take a single cent from Mia."

Jasper raised an eyebrow at her words.

He pulled out his phone and casually dialed a number. "Stop."

As soon as he said it, the CEO’s ecstatic voice came through Mia’s phone. "They’ve stopped! The White Group is saved! This is amazing!"

Mia clutched her phone, listening to the voice on the other end. She looked at Adeline standing in front of her, feeling all sorts of emotions.

She had planned to help Adeline because Adeline had helped her so many times and she felt she owed her. But now, she finally got how ruthless Jasper could be.

In just a few minutes, he could bring a billionaire like her to the edge of ruin.

Adeline turned to check out the White Group’s stock trend.

The stock, which had hit rock bottom, started to skyrocket after Jasper’s order.

In no time, it was back to its previous high.

Adeline let out a sigh of relief.

The venue was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Jasper’s power and methods left everyone in awe. Facing Jasper, they didn’t even dare to whisper.

Sitting next to Jasper, Luna clenched her fists tight. Today, she finally saw the real Jasper. Handsome, classy, and with insane economic power. He was the kind of guy you could trust with your life.

But everything he did today was for Adeline.

Luna's eyes narrowed as she shot a cold look at Adeline.

The White Group's mess was sorted. The emcee cleared his throat and tried to smooth things over. "Just a farce! Since the asset gifting is off the table, let's get this party started! Hope everyone has a blast tonight!"

As the emcee wrapped up, chill music filled the hall.

Everyone started to relax.

As Adeline and Mia stepped off the stage, Ryan blocked Adeline's path. "Adeline, Mr. Foster wants to see you."

Mia bit her lip and instinctively grabbed Adeline's hand.

Adeline smiled at her. "It's cool."

With that, Adeline took a deep breath and followed Ryan.

Jasper and Luna were chilling on a sofa on the far left of the hall.

Because Jasper was so intimidating, everyone else stayed on the right side, whether eating, drinking, or dancing.

Adeline followed Ryan over and sat on the sofa opposite Jasper.

Jasper elegantly pushed a steaming cup of coffee towards Adeline. "Do you like the gift I prepared for you tonight?"

The "gift" he meant was the attack on the White Group. Adeline bit her lip and glared at him. "Mr. Foster, why are you pushing me to the edge?"

"I'm not pushing you to the edge." Jasper smirked, fiddling with a pair of couple rings. "I just don't want to lose a top-notch jewelry designer."

He then looked at Adeline with his deep, unreadable eyes. "Ms. Wilson just signed a multi-million dollar contract with me this morning. How could I let you go and miss out on such a sweet deal?"

Adeline gasped. She knew these were all Jasper's excuses.

Did he think she didn't know that the resources he used to attack the White Group tonight could fund three or four of her projects?

Luna chimed in, "Yes, Ms. Wilson is such an amazing designer. If she really left the Foster Group, it would be a huge loss for us."

Luna smiled gently at Adeline, leaning obediently against Jasper, her voice sweet and soft. "And I quite like Ms. Wilson. If she left the Foster Group, I’d be bummed too."

She then looked at Adeline with innocent eyes, tinged with a bit of provocation. "Ms. Wilson, you should stay at the Foster Group. I still have a lot to learn from you."

Then she looked up at Jasper with gentle eyes. "Jasper, do you think I should apprentice under Ms. Wilson?"

"Maybe if I learn well from her, I can make big bucks for the Foster Group in the future."

Jasper's eyes narrowed slightly, then he chuckled and patted Luna's shoulder to comfort her. "No need. Your health isn't great, and I don't want you to overwork."

He then glanced coldly at Adeline. "If I can keep Ms. Wilson, this brilliant designer, that will be enough."
