Chapter 348 Blake in Critical Condition

Adeline glared at Jasper, her anger blazing. "I dare you!"

"Alright, enough," David cut in, sounding bored as he glanced at Jasper. "Stella's here, making a scene outside the ward, demanding to see you. Woke Linda up. You should handle it."

Jasper's brow furrowed with annoyance. "I know," he muttered, letting go of Adeline and walking away without looking back.

Once Jasper was gone, David turned to Adeline with a smirk. "He's into you, you know. Spent all night drinking with me after finding out you're pregnant with another man's kid."

He shrugged, hands in his pockets. "And that talk about getting rid of the baby? Just him venting. He wouldn't actually hurt a child."

Adeline laughed coldly. "You don't know him. He had an affair with his wife's sister, Molly. To make Molly happy, he had planned to kill his wife."

She met David's shocked eyes, her expression steady. "If he can be that heartless to his own family, why would I be any different?"

Wiping blood from her lip, she straightened up. "My flight leaves in three hours. I'm leaving."

She turned and limped towards the stairwell, ignoring David's worried look.

"Aren't you going to say goodbye?" he called after her.

"No need," she replied firmly, despite the tremor in her voice.

David watched her go, sighing heavily.

Adeline made her way down the stairs, instinctively cradling her stomach. As she reached the next floor, Stella's shrill voice echoed through the hallway.

"Jasper, stop pretending this isn't about Adeline! Where is she? Tell her to come out here and face me!"

"Stop lying! You're divorcing me for her!"

"I want to see her! I want to confront you both!"

Adeline closed her eyes, feeling exhausted. So that's why Stella had snapped. Jasper was divorcing her.

Reaching the ground floor, Adeline stepped into the elevator. As the doors opened in the lobby, two men in black suits approached her.

"Miss Wilson?" one asked respectfully. "We're with David. He sent us to escort you to the airport."

Adeline eyed them cautiously. They looked like David's men.

"Take me to the hotel first," she instructed. She still had her luggage.

The drive to the hotel was silent. One man drove while the other kept watch, their professionalism clear.

Adeline quickly gathered her belongings, checked out, and rejoined the men in the car. They stayed vigilant, one in front, one behind, the whole way.

As they settled back in the car, one of the men handed her an unopened bottle of water. "For the road," he said gruffly.

"Thank you," Adeline replied, surprised by the gesture. Despite their tough appearance, David's men were surprisingly thoughtful.

She took a long drink, her thirst momentarily forgotten as a new wave of anxiety hit her.

The streets were mostly empty at this late hour, so they made good time. Within thirty minutes, they were at the airport's departure curb.

Adeline thanked the men as they escorted her through security, their eyes never leaving her. Once she was safely through, they turned and disappeared back into the busy terminal.

Adeline sank into a chair in the waiting area, feeling a wave of unease. She needed to talk to Sebastian. She pulled out her phone and dialed his number.

Straight to voicemail.

She tried again and again, her heart pounding with each unanswered ring. Panic set in.

She called Blake, hoping he might have heard from Sebastian. No luck—his phone was also unreachable.

Fear coiled in her stomach. She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. She tried Sebastian again, then Blake, but still no answer.

Desperate, she dialed Brandon's number.

"Hello," Brandon answered, sounding exhausted.

"Brandon, is Blake with you?" Adeline asked, her voice tight with anxiety.

"He's in surgery," Brandon replied, strained. "Adeline, I can't keep this up anymore. He's getting worse."

Adeline's blood ran cold. "What do you mean?"

Brandon sighed, each word hitting her like a hammer. "He's been deteriorating for months. He made me promise not to tell you, made the doctors lie and say he was getting better. Haven't you noticed he hasn't been in touch as much?"

Adeline stifled a sob. It was true. Blake had been distant lately. He had said he was busy mastering a new hacking technique. He had always been quiet, so she hadn't thought much of it.

"He hasn't learned any new techniques," Brandon said, his voice thick with unshed tears. "He's been too weak to even speak. This morning, he started coughing up blood again. They rushed him into surgery hours ago. Eight hours… Adeline, Chloe said if he doesn't get a bone marrow transplant soon, he might not make it to next year."

He choked back a sob. "He made me promise not to tell you, but I can't do it anymore. Adeline, please… will you come back? Just be with him for whatever time he has left? You've been gone for almost half a year. If you're not pregnant yet…"

"I am," Adeline whispered, tears streaming down her face. "Brandon, I'm at the airport. I'm coming home. Take care of him. I'll be there soon. Bennett and Lauren will be back too. We'll all be okay."

She gripped the phone tighter, her voice thick with tears. "Brandon, I'm pregnant. Blake can be saved."

Silence, then a choked sob filled with relief and hope. "Thank God… Adeline, that's wonderful. I'll tell him as soon as he wakes up."

"Okay," Adeline whispered, nodding fiercely despite the tears blurring her vision. "We'll be okay. Don't give up. Tell Blake to hold on. I…"

A sharp, excruciating pain ripped through her abdomen, cutting her short. Adeline doubled over, her phone slipping from her grasp as a wave of nausea washed over her.

"Adeline? Adeline, what's wrong?" Brandon's frantic voice echoed from the phone on the floor.

Adeline tried to answer, but no words came out. The pain intensified, bringing fresh tears to her eyes. She felt a warm gush between her legs and knew.

Despair crashed over her, stealing her breath. Her fingers loosened their grip on her stomach, her hand falling limply to her side.

A shadow fell over her. Thomas stood before her, his expression cold and calculating. He picked up the phone, ignoring Brandon's increasingly frantic cries, and hung up.

He offered the phone back to Adeline, a chilling smile spreading across his lips. "Miss Wilson," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. "Mr. Foster sent me to make sure your little problem was taken care of."

He glanced down at the spreading stain on her skirt, his smile widening. "And it seems it has."
