Chapter 608 Who Admitted You Were Part of the Foster Family?

Adeline narrowed her eyes at the smug guy standing in front of her. She really didn't want to deal with someone like him, so she was ready to pay up and be done with it.

Fifty grand wasn't chump change, especially since the engagement was a spur-of-the-moment thing from just yesterday. Rex hadn't lost a thing in the whole deal.

She couldn't figure out where he got the nerve to demand half of Jasper's assets.

Taking a deep breath to calm her anger, she shot Rex a frosty look. "Mr. Foster, I know you're itching to go head-to-head with Jasper and snag the Foster Group's assets."

She scoffed, "But do you really think using our engagement to get Jasper's assets is realistic? I'm the one making the deal with you, I'm the one who doesn't want to marry you, not Jasper. Do you seriously think you can get half of Jasper's assets from me?"

Rex shifted, lounging back on the sofa with an air of elegance. "Why not?"

He arched an eyebrow at Adeline, "If Molly hadn't shown up last night and you had agreed to the engagement, you'd be Jasper's fiancée now and soon his wife. Getting half of Jasper's assets in exchange for returning his fiancée doesn't seem like too much, does it?"

Adeline's hands balled into fists at her sides.

She and Jasper were only in a sham marriage. Even if it were real, Jasper would never consider giving away half of his company's assets to Rex.

In Jasper's eyes, she was never that important. How could he make such a huge sacrifice for her?

Adeline took another deep breath and glared at Rex coldly. "You can keep dreaming! It's just an engagement. If I don't want to get married when the time comes, can the Foster family force me?"

With that, she grabbed the folder she had prepared and turned to leave.

Rex sneered and stood up, blocking her path. "Where's my fiancée planning to go? Let me give you a ride."

He raised his voice, "What? You said you're going to Jasper's house? My fiancée, you're engaged to me, and you still want to stay at Jasper's house? Isn't that a bit inappropriate?"

The once quiet restaurant buzzed with whispers from the surrounding patrons.

Hearing the murmurs, Adeline gritted her teeth, "Move!"

Rex smirked, shamelessly standing in her way. "What if I don't?"

Adeline squinted, "If you don't move, I'll call the cops."

"Call the cops?" Rex lifted his hand, tilting Adeline's chin to force her to look at him.

"Do you want the police to see our marital flirting? You're my fiancée now. Anything I do to you can be explained as playful teasing."

Looking at his disgusting face, Adeline bit her lip and finally couldn't hold back. Her hand flew up, delivering a hard slap to Rex's face, as she vented all the anger she had been holding in since she arrived.

Rex's head snapped to the side from the impact, and he staggered back a few steps. Just as he was about to fall, a man in black clothes caught him from behind.

"Careful," the man said.

"Thanks," Rex replied, tasting blood in his mouth. As he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, Rex thanked the man behind him.

"You're welcome." The man's voice was deep and magnetic, laced with mockery and amusement.

Rex paused and instinctively turned around.

The person who had supported him was none other than his half-brother, Jasper.

Jasper sat in a wheelchair, his gaze indifferent. "Rex, you really can't take a hit. Adeline, such a delicate woman, slapped you once, and you couldn't stand. Nathan always emphasizes fitness. Why didn't he train you well?"

Rex's eyes widened. He licked his lips, anger flashing in his eyes. "Nathan is your father too!"

Jasper raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Does he deserve that title?"

With that, he wheeled himself to Adeline's side and looked at her, "The rain just stopped, and you came here to flirt with him?"

He emphasized the word "flirt."

Adeline pursed her lips. It was clear that Jasper had heard Rex's explanation about "flirting."

She took a deep breath, glanced at the onlookers, and said calmly, "Everyone, don't be too surprised. I was just flirting with Rex, just playing around. He's a masochist. If I don't hit him, he won't be happy."

She raised an eyebrow and glanced at Rex. "Isn't that right, fiancé? Although I hit you a bit hard, you won't call the police, right?"

Rex glared at Adeline, gritting his teeth, and almost spat out the words, "Yes."

Adeline suppressed a smile, holding the folder in her arms, "I suddenly remembered I have something to do, so I'll leave first."

With that, she walked away quickly.

Watching her leave, Rex was so angry he wanted to smash something!

As he picked up the coffee cup on the table, Jasper, sitting in his wheelchair, couldn't help but smile. "I should remind you, the cup in your hand costs $1,000. You can smash it, but your heavily indebted father, Nathan, can't clean up your mess anymore."

His voice was cold and emotionless.

Rex sneered, "Even if my father can't help me, I'm now a member of the Foster family. I can have the restaurant bill the Foster family, right?"

With that, he smashed the cup on the ground, as if to show off his status.

Jasper chuckled, "Who acknowledged you as a member of the Foster family? Do you think bribing some reporters to spread the news that you're a member of the Foster family makes it true?"

He leaned back in his wheelchair, like a monarch on his throne, coldly declaring. "I am the head of the Foster family, and the most respected person in the Foster family is my grandmother. Without our consent, who dares to acknowledge you as a member of the Foster family?"

He continued, "Your father is now a criminal expelled from the Foster family, and you still dare to claim to be a member of the Foster family?"

He coldly addressed the restaurant staff, "This so-called member of the Foster family is just a fraud. He has nothing to do with the Foster family."

With that, Jasper elegantly wheeled himself away.

Rex gritted his teeth, glaring at Jasper's back. "What if I use breaking off the engagement with Adeline in exchange for the status of a member of the Foster family?"

Hearing that, Jasper suddenly stopped his wheelchair.
