Chapter 686 The Woman in This Photo

Bright red blood splattered across Adeline's face, momentarily stunning her.

She stared blankly at Alice, who had suddenly appeared in front of her, and the garden shears that had pierced through Alice's chest.

Why did Alice suddenly rush out?

"Mrs. Foster, run!"

Alice gritted her teeth, her blood-soaked hands clutching Molly tightly. "Mrs. Foster, run! Go now! You saved my life back then, and I never forgot it! This time, let me repay you!"

Alice's words twisted Molly's face into a mask of rage.

She glared at Alice, then at Adeline behind her, her expression terrifying.

"You bitch!"

Molly used all her strength to try to pull the shears out of Alice's body, but Alice held on tightly.

Molly couldn't move.

"Mrs. Foster, go!" Alice spat out blood, shouting with all her might. "If you don't go, I'll have died for nothing!"

Adeline bit her lip, wiped away her tears, and took a deep breath. With her last bit of strength, she climbed over the second-floor balcony railing.

Adeline jumped from the balcony. She thought she would hit the ground hard, but instead, she landed on a soft rescue mattress.

The scorching flames edged dangerously close to her, the intense heat seeming to melt everything.

Before she could move, she was pulled into a warm embrace.

A familiar male scent filled her senses, and Adeline looked up in surprise. "Jasper?"

"It's me." Jasper held her tightly, running out of the burning building.

Behind them, the fire raged, and Molly's screams echoed.

Jasper's grip was firm and his gaze steady as he hoarsely whispered, "Adeline," relief and gratitude evident in his voice. "This time, I made it in time."

Originally, he had taken Ryan and the team to a clinic in the suburbs to find Molly.

The surveillance in the suburbs was poor, and they couldn't see anything. They didn't contact the clinic to avoid alerting Molly.

But as they drove near the suburbs, Ryan, trying to ease his nerves, turned on the Radiance Springs news.

When they heard about a female driver carrying a truckload of white flowers being killed, Jasper immediately thought of the female gardener he had met at the Foster family Mansion.

So he quickly turned the car around and headed back to Blue Bay with Ryan and the team.

Before they reached the villa, they saw the flames lighting up the night sky.

The massive fire turned night into day.

Jasper urgently commanded Ryan to drive at top speed.

He feared he wouldn't make it in time, but he did.

Now, as he held Adeline, his heart pounded.

Thank goodness, this time, he made it.

When Jasper and Adeline reached the road across from Blue Bay, the fire had already reached the top floor.

The fire department arrived.

Everyone from Blue Bay stood across the road, watching their home burn.

Lauren crouched on the ground, crying softly.

Adeline walked over and hugged her. "What's wrong?"

"Daddy and Mommy's home." Lauren sobbed. "There must be so many memories of us in there. Now it's all gone."

Lauren cried so hard she could barely breathe. "We'll never have Alice's breakfast again."

Adeline sighed, holding Lauren tightly without saying a word.

Jasper instructed Ryan to arrange a bus to take everyone to Emerald Crest Estate.

He stayed behind with Tim and Tom to handle the fire with the firefighters.

The fire burned all night.

It wasn't extinguished until dawn.

The fire that lit up Radiance Springs' night sparked a media frenzy.

But with Jasper, Jason, and Mia's influence, it was ultimately deemed an arson case, avoiding widespread panic.

After the fire was out, the firefighters found Alice and Molly's bodies.

The two were locked in an embrace.

The sharp garden shears were still in Alice's body.

Molly had crawled to the balcony, her hands gripping the railing, but Alice held her tight.

Alice had dragged Molly to death with her.

It was a gruesome scene.

Jasper led everyone in a three-minute silence for Alice.

Without the brave Alice, Adeline might have died last night.

And if Adeline had died, Molly might have harmed others.

Alice had used her body to prevent further tragedy.

"Is this the home of Radiance Springs' richest man, Jasper?"

In a five-star hotel in Radiance Springs, Joseph sucked on a lollipop while watching a somber man flipping through photos of women.

"Dad, is this Jasper the man Aunt Molly has been in love with for years?"

Oliver with the cold expression didn't look up.

"You already know. Didn't you cause a scene at his signing ceremony yesterday?"

Joseph took the lollipop out of his mouth. "I wasn't causing a scene!"

Joseph glared at Oliver. "I'm a detective, analyzing the case for them. Don't say things you don't understand!"

Oliver snorted, his cold eyes sweeping over Joseph.

"Did you steal the jade ring from my drawer?"

Joseph pouted. "I took it to see if you'd react. You're always so serious, never happy."

"You lost my most precious item, and you think that would make me happy?"

Oliver coldly closed the file in front of him, his voice icy. "I never should have listened to you and brought you here to find your mom."

He must have been crazy.

The woman from six years ago might have left Radiance Springs, or she might be dead.

Finding her was like searching for a needle in a haystack, and he agreed to it.

"But Dad, you didn't lose out."

Joseph pointed at the burned Blue Bay on TV. "We can visit the fire scene."

Oliver frowned at the photo of the fire scene, rolling his eyes.

Reluctantly, to satisfy Joseph's detective dreams, he took him to Blue Bay when most people had left.

They arrived in the evening.

Joseph immediately started investigating like a detective from a novel.

Bored, Oliver sat in the burned garden.

A gust of wind blew a half-burned photo to his feet.

Casually picking it up, Oliver was stunned after a single glance.

The woman in the photo looked exactly like his mother!
