Chapter 405 Are You Going to the Hospital by Yourself First?
Lucia was fuming. "Luna totally did it on purpose!"
After Jasper took off with Luna, Lucia went ballistic, chucking everything Luna had touched straight into the trash.
"She barged into Adeline's office on purpose and dumped that white powder in her water cup just to mess with us!" Lucia ranted, getting more worked up by the second. "Luna definitely did it on purpose!"
"When we walked in, she was even muttering about not getting caught. Like, who does that?"
"And who would think she was just putting vitamins in the water cup?" Lucia scoffed.
Robert nodded. "Yeah, and those vitamins were ground into powder. You can't even buy them like that. She did it just to mess with us."
While they were all heated, Adeline was just chilling in her chair, messing with her phone.
Lucia shot her a look and leaned over. "Adeline, are you writing a resignation letter?"
Adeline looked up and smirked. "You think I'd quit over this? I still gotta make money for my kids."
She put her phone away and checked the time. "Didn't Jasper say to see him in ten minutes? It's about that time. I'm heading over."
With that, Adeline got up and left.
Lucia and Robert just stood there, totally confused.
Adeline should've been the most pissed off, but she was acting like nothing happened, just playing with her phone and calmly going to see Jasper.
It was like she wasn't the one who got schemed against by Luna and cold-shouldered by Jasper.
Truth was, Adeline did care about what went down, but she got a message that totally lifted her spirits.
It was from Violet.
Violet: [Adeline, u asked me 2 find out abt the bone marrow donor. I talked 2 some of my old nurse & doc friends.]
Violet: [Most ppl don't know much, but the donor is super mysterious. Only a few docs & nurses can contact them.]
Violet: [One of my nurse friends found out the donor is coming 2the hospital at noon today 2 sign the final donation agreement.]
Violet: [Once that's signed, Blake can have the surgery within a week.]
Violet: [Wanna try your luck?]
Adeline thought, 'If I go to the hospital at noon, I might meet the donor.'
'Since they wanna stay anonymous, I won't make a big deal out of it. But if I know who they are, I can find a way to thank them.'
Taking a deep breath, Adeline quickly replied to Violet, asking for the specific floor and time.
After sending the message, the elevator reached the top floor.
Adeline composed herself, got off the elevator, and walked to Jasper's office door.
Inside, Luna was sitting on the sofa with a coffee cup, looking all sad. "Jasper, did I really do something wrong?" she whined.
Luna sighed, "Should I have held back from messing with Ms. Wilson? I really wanna get along with her. We’re gonna be seeing a lot of each other, and I don’t want her hating me."
Adeline was about to knock when she heard Jasper’s cold voice from inside. "You don’t need to worry about what Adeline thinks. Just be yourself."
Jasper went on, "Right now, your health is what matters. Don’t let irrelevant people mess with your mood and health."
Luna bit her lip and whispered, "But Ms. Wilson isn’t irrelevant."
Jasper replied, "I haven’t had anything to do with her for six years. If it weren’t for the kids, I wouldn’t even talk to her."
Then he looked at Luna and said softly, "So, don’t bring up stuff that doesn’t matter."
Adeline stood outside, feeling a chill run down her spine.
She thought, 'So this is how Jasper really feels? The loving Jasper that Jason talked about is just a lie. I’m the only fool who believed it.'
Just then, Ryan called out, "Adeline?"
Adeline was still standing there, lost in thought, when Ryan came out of the elevator with some documents.
He saw her and frowned. "Mr. Foster asked you to come in ten minutes, right?"
Ryan checked his phone and sighed. "Looks like Mr. Foster got so caught up talking with Ms. Jones that he lost track of time. He’s usually on point, but he’s different with Ms. Jones."
Realizing he might’ve said too much, Ryan awkwardly smiled and knocked on the door.
"Come in," Jasper said.
With Jasper’s permission, Ryan led Adeline inside.
"Mr. Foster, Mr. Das is here. He’s downstairs looking for you," Ryan said.
Jasper frowned and rubbed his temples. "What does he want?"
Vikram Das, a relative from Jasper’s mom’s side, hadn’t been in touch with the Foster family for over twenty years since Megan passed away. Now, out of the blue, the Das family wanted to patch things up.
Just thinking about Vikram gave Jasper a headache.
Ryan sighed. "He said he heard about your relationship troubles and came to give you some advice."
The room went silent.
Adeline, standing behind Ryan, couldn’t help but sneer.
Luna’s face turned red as she gripped her water cup tightly, staying quiet.
Jasper raised an eyebrow. "Do I need a nineteen-year-old kid to fix my relationship problems?"
He was about to tell Ryan to kick Vikram out when he noticed Adeline standing there.
His expression darkened even more.
Adeline said, "Looks like I came at a bad time."
Seeing Jasper’s look, she couldn’t help but sneer. "Mr. Foster, you asked me to come at this time, and I’m here. But it seems you’ve got relationship issues to handle. Should I leave?"
"No need."
Jasper frowned and glanced at her, then turned to Luna with a gentle look. "Luna, I need to discuss some things with Adeline. Can you head to the hospital on your own?"
