Chapter 442 Repeat What You Just Said

Adeline smirked, her lips curling up.

She dropped her voice and leaned in close to Luna, dripping with sarcasm. "You really think having his kid means he'll protect it?"

Luna narrowed her eyes. "Absolutely."

Adeline burst out laughing. "Want me to count how many chicks he's made promises to? Wanna know what happened to them? You're so naive!"

Adeline spun around to leave, but Luna's sneering voice stopped her. "The naive one is you. Know why Jasper doesn't give a damn about your kids?"

Luna stood up gracefully. "It's 'cause you wanted the kid, but Jasper didn't. I'm different."

Luna sauntered around to face Adeline, her usually sad eyes now full of pride and mockery. "This morning, at your dead son Bennett's grave, Jasper asked me to have his kid."

Luna chuckled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm not in great health; I wasn't gonna agree. But he said he wanted someone he truly likes to have his kid."

Adeline's hands balled into fists at her sides!

She glared at Luna, fighting the urge to rip her apart.

Taking a deep breath, she looked Luna in the eye and said slowly, "I don't care what kind of kid you want or how many you have. But if I catch you at Bennett's grave again or hear you talking like this, you're done!"

Adeline's eyes blazed with fury. "Don't underestimate a mother's love for her son. Test me if you dare!"

With that, Adeline snatched the documents off her desk and stormed out.

The conference room door slammed shut.

Hearing the loud thud, Luna couldn't help but smile.

Feeling smug, she picked up her phone, about to text Jasper for lunch, when a weird message popped up.

Stranger: [I'm back in Radiance Springs.]

Luna's breath caught.

She bit her lip and quickly replied.

Luna: [Why are you back?]

Stranger: [Relax. I'm not here to steal Jasper.]

Stranger: [I just want to see Adeline suffer.]

After leaving the conference room, Adeline marched back to her office.

Slumping into her chair, Luna's words echoed in her mind.

"This morning, at your dead son Bennett's grave, Jasper asked me to have his kid."

Adeline covered her face with her hands.

How could Jasper talk about having a kid with Luna at Bennett's grave? How?

Even if he didn't care about her, Bennett was still his son.

Jasper didn't care about Blake and Lauren, who were still alive. Fine.

But why did Bennett, even in death, have to be disrespected by him? Does Jasper even have a conscience?

She thought she'd cry, but she didn't.

"Why are you sitting here covering your face instead of having lunch?"

A clear male voice suddenly came from the office door.

Adeline quickly dropped her hands.

Vikram was standing there with a takeout bag, leaning against the door, trying to look all suave.

Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Back already?"

Vikram had just gone back to his hometown yesterday; she figured he'd be gone for a few days.

"My family’s pushing me to get the company up and running," Vikram said, strolling in and handing her the lunch. "Jasper said he'd invest, but the money's not here yet, and the contract's not signed, so my folks are freaking out."

Adeline took the lunch and chuckled while munching. "Yeah, sounds about right." No one knew better than her how flaky Jasper could be.

Vikram plopped down on the sofa, flipping through her scattered design drafts. "I wanted to chat about the company, but seeing you like this, I guess now's not the time."

Adeline paused. "I'm fine."

"Who are you trying to impress?" Vikram rolled his eyes. "You didn't even eat lunch, sitting here with your face in your hands. You're upset. Don't think you can fool me just 'cause I'm younger."

Busted, Adeline sighed, eating her food with a gloomy look. "It's nothing, really. This morning, Jasper took Luna to my son's grave and talked about having a kid with her."

She took a deep breath, suddenly not wanting to continue. "Don't ask anymore."

Vikram was stunned.

"Jasper talked about having a kid with Luna at Bennett's grave?" he asked, eyebrows raised in disbelief.

Vikram thought, 'No way.'

He knew how much Jasper cared about his kids. To get Luna to donate her bone marrow to Blake, he even dated her!

Blake and Lauren were so important to him that even if Bennett was less so, Jasper wouldn't ask Luna to have his kid at Bennett's grave, right?

Plus, didn't Luna lie to Jasper about having only a year to live because of some terminal illness?

Jasper wouldn't ask a terminally ill person to have his kid!

Thinking this, Vikram frowned. "Who told you this?"

Adeline laughed without looking up. "Who do you think?"

Vikram sighed. He knew it had to be Luna. She was still as nasty as ever.

But Luna had dirt on him, so he couldn't expose her in front of Adeline.

Sighing, Vikram briefly comforted Adeline and then left.

As soon as he was out, he called Luna.

The call connected quickly.

"Luna, don't you think you're going too far? You told Adeline that you and Jasper talked about having a kid at Bennett's grave, didn't you?" Vikram fumed.

Silence on the other end.

"Luna?" he pressed.

After a moment, Jasper's deep, cold voice came through. "Repeat what you just said."
