Chapter 650 Overmedication
Adeline froze slightly. Then she tightened her grip on Lily's fingers, "Don't worry."
She took a deep breath, and images of everything Jasper had done for her recently, as well as the words he said in Violet's recording, flashed before her eyes.
Adeline made up her mind and spoke seriously, "I promise you. No matter what happens in the future, I will never give up on him."
After getting her answer, Lily finally breathed a sigh of relief, closed her eyes, and let go of her hand.
The surrounding machines started to sound alarms.
Doctors rushed in. "The patient's condition is unstable! Adrenaline! Non-medical personnel, please leave the room!"
As Adeline was pulled out of the room by Larry, Lily was already surrounded by a group of doctors trying to save her.
For some reason, a tear rolled down Adeline's cheek.
Lily's condition was already very bad.
And now, she was Jasper's most important family member.
Adeline clenched her fists tightly at her sides. She pulled her arm out of Larry's hand, "You stay here. I'm going to find Sharon."
With that, she took a deep breath and went straight into the elevator.
Lily's physical condition couldn't wait any longer.
Soon, she pushed open the door to Sharon's office. "Ms. Reed, do you remember what I talked to you about before?"
Sharon raised an eyebrow and looked at Adeline, "Trying to adjust your physical condition to mimic the symptoms of poisoning will definitely cause some damage to your body. Are you really willing?"
Adeline nodded.
Sharon glanced at the medical records Adeline handed her. "I don't know if this will get the antidote for Lily. Even if you get the antidote, her age and physical condition can't guarantee she'll be healthy afterward. Is it worth doing this for an old woman who's about to die? And she's not even your family."
Adeline took a deep breath and said firmly, "But she is the family of the most important person to me."
To Jasper, Lily was his sole family, and thus she became hers as well.
Even if it only allowed Lily to live one more year, her sacrifice would be worth it.
Sharon looked into Adeline's stubborn eyes, knowing she couldn't persuade her, and could only helplessly wave her hand.
"Since you've made up your mind, let's do it. But it might take you a few years to recover to your current state. Can you really endure that?"
Adeline nodded heavily, "I can."
Jasper was having breakfast with Molly at a restaurant across from the hospital.
She, sitting across from him like a jealous wife, was questioning him, "Last night, were you really at the company handling things?"
Jasper replied, "No, I went to the Foster Mansion later, and after Grandma had an accident, I stayed with her at the hospital all night."
Molly added, "What about Adeline? How did you and she end up at the hospital at the same time?"
"It was just a coincidence." Jasper said.
"Then..." Before Molly could finish her question, the restaurant door was pushed open.
Ryan rushed in frantically, "Mr. Foster, something's happened!"
Jasper frowned, "What is it?"
Ryan was out of breath, "Adeline was sent to the emergency room! She's in critical condition!"
Jasper's eyes suddenly sharpened, "What happened to her?"
"I don't know!" Ryan, who didn't know the details, was extremely anxious and continued, "The doctor said her condition is worse than Scarlett's before; it's kind of like Lily's condition before!"
Ryan added, "I just came out of the emergency room, the doctor asked me to find Adeline's family to sign for surgery, but I don't know if she has any family. So I came to find you!"
Seeing Ryan's anxious look, Molly sneered inwardly.
She stood up, "Why are you looking for Jasper? She has nothing to do with Adeline. Instead of looking for him, you should look for me, at least I'm considered Adeline's sister."
With that, she stood up and walked towards the restaurant door, "Let's go. I want to see what's going on."
Watching Molly's elegant departure, Jasper's expression darkened.
As he got up and walked out, he lowered his voice and asked, "What exactly happened? Is it really that serious?"
Ryan was already sweating profusely. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, his voice hoarse, "Mr. Foster, I'm not lying to you. You told me before, if Adeline ever pretended to be sick, I should find you immediately and exaggerate it a bit. But Adeline this time doesn't seem to be pretending. When I saw her being taken into the emergency room, I really thought she was about to die!"
Ryan's words made Jasper freeze!
How could this be?
Didn't Adeline agree to just pretend to be poisoned, to make Molly think she was poisoned, and willingly give the antidote to Lily?
Thinking of this, Jasper frowned, quickly caught up with Molly, and hurriedly returned to the hospital with her.
When Jasper seized her, Molly could distinctly sense his urgency and anxiety.
Molly's eyes narrowed and her gaze intensified.
It seemed that even if Jasper said he didn't care, he still had feelings for Adeline.
The more he was like this, the more she wanted Adeline to die!
Soon, the two of them arrived outside Adeline's emergency room.
The resuscitation was still ongoing.
Chief physicians from various departments were constantly going in and out the emergency room.
It was clear that Adeline inside was in very bad condition.
Jasper couldn't hold back and grabbed a doctor coming out of the emergency room to ask, "How is the patient inside?"
The doctor shook his head helplessly, his face full of frustration. "Not good at all. In all my years of practice, I've never seen organ functions deteriorate to this extent in such a short time. Please let go of me, I need to discuss with the director what to do in this situation."
With that, he pulled his hand away from Jasper and turned to leave.
The doctor's words made Molly's eyes gleam with satisfaction.
She grabbed the doctor's arm and asked softly, "So, how does Adeline's condition compare to that of Mrs. Foster next door?"
"The conditions are indeed very similar." The doctor sighed, "But Lily's condition developed over many years of poisoning. The cause of this young lady is unknown. It seems like an overdose of medication, and the doctor responsible for her, Sharon, has disappeared. When we found her, she was already unconscious. Whether she can survive depends on luck."
As the doctor finished speaking, Jasper's face instantly turned pale.
He rushed towards the emergency room door.
