Chapter 700 Bring Peace to the Soul of the Sister in Heaven
Adeline sat on her bed, her forehead still damp with cold sweat from a nightmare, when she heard Brandon's voice outside the door.
She bit her lip, feeling a whirlwind of emotions.
She wasn't the kind of girl who got upset over feelings anymore. She knew that for adults, the balance between love, family, and career was different for everyone.
But she had given the biggest part of her heart to Jasper, and he had placed her in a corner.
How important was he to her?
Important enough that no matter how badly he treated her, as long as he said it was a misunderstanding, as long as he explained, she would convince herself to forgive him.
But in the end, she was never the most important person in his heart.
It felt like she was offering her passionate heart to him, but he ignored it.
Adeline stared at the wall, unsure if she should give Jasper another chance, if she should set aside her pride and give him another opportunity.
Hearing no response, Brandon knocked on the door again.
"Adeline. Randy cut off communication between the side house and Radiance Springs. Now that Jasper is in Oceancrest City, Randy probably hasn't realized it yet. When he does, he might block all signals between the side house and the outside world. Don't be stubborn. Come out and call him. If you can clear up the misunderstanding, I'd be really happy."
Adeline took a deep breath, finally persuaded by Brandon. She opened the door and took the phone from him.
Holding the phone, her palms were sweaty with nerves.
After a long while, a deep male voice came from the other end.
"Hello?"
"Jasper."
Adeline had so much she wanted to say to him. But when she heard his voice, she bit her lip, tears silently falling, unable to form a complete sentence.
"Adeline?"
Jasper's tone became excited when he heard her voice.
"You really called me."
Last night, he had cut off several of the Phoebe family's business chains, demanding they let Adeline talk to him by today.
Clearly, the Phoebe family had finally caved.
Otherwise, how could she have the chance to call him?
Adeline sniffed, telling herself that maybe she had misunderstood Jasper.
So she bit her lip and spoke, "Jasper, I called David's hotel to leave you a message. Did you get it?"
Hearing Adeline's voice, he finally smiled. "I got it. When David called, I already guessed you were in Oceancrest City."
Adeline gripped the phone, forcing her voice not to choke.
"Then you... know where I am, right?"
Jasper said, "Yes, I know. I'll bring you home as soon as possible."
These words were exactly what he had said to Lauren at the restaurant yesterday.
Holding the phone, Adeline felt her heart turn cold.
He still planned to deal with the Phoebe family before seeing her?
Adeline bit her lip to keep her voice steady, "How soon can you make it?"
Jasper glanced at the date. "Within a week. Adeline, I won't make you wait too long. Trust me."
On this end of the phone, Adeline's tears were already flowing.
He said he wouldn't make her wait too long, that she should trust him.
So that meant he wouldn't come for her until he finished dealing with the Phoebe family.
"Then take your time dealing with the Phoebe family."
With that cold remark, Adeline hung up the phone.
She sniffed, handed the phone back to Brandon, and wiped her tears. "Brandon, I really didn't misunderstand him. In his eyes, his hatred for the Phoebe family is more important than me. I need some time to think."
With that, Adeline shut the door forcefully and returned to her room.
Lying back on the bed, Adeline stared at the ceiling, her tears soaking the pillow.
She had told Jasper about her engagement to Brandon many times.
Even the day before she was taken back, she had held him in bed, whispering in his ear.
"I promised the Torres family an engagement. What should we do? Should you come with me to apologize to the Torres family? What if they take me away to marry Brandon?"
Back then, Jasper would always pin her down and tell her.
"As long as I'm here, the Torres family wouldn't dare force you to marry Brandon. But I won't forget the Torres family's kindness to you and the kids. Once I'm done with things, I'll visit them myself."
Thinking of the past, Adeline couldn't stop her tears.
He had spoken so confidently before, but now?
He knew the Torres family had taken her back after Brandon's incident, and he knew what they wanted.
He not only wouldn't come for her but also insisted she wait until he had finished dealing with the Phoebe family, which would take a week.
How ironic.
Yesterday, Fiona had said to give her a week to decide if she wanted to marry Brandon.
Today, he told her to wait another week.
Adeline closed her eyes, a mocking smile on her lips.
She had gone through so much to finally confirm that she was the most important woman in Jasper's heart, his love.
But she had overestimated how much love held significance in his heart.
Now she finally knew.
Love, in his heart, was far less important than revenge.
If he wanted revenge, he could have it.
He was the one who gave up on her!
She wouldn't give him another chance!
In a five-star hotel in Oceancrest City.
After hanging up, Jasper turned to Ryan, who was working on a computer and some equipment.
"Did you locate her?"
Ryan nodded silently. "Yes. The phone Mrs. Foster used to call you was a temporary one, registered with a Phoebe family servant's ID. And..."
Ryan took a deep breath. "Based on the signal's IP location, Mrs. Foster's signal is coming from the Phoebe family. Precisely speaking, it was in Daisy Phoebe's room."
He looked up. "Daisy didn't lie. She said Mrs. Foster would contact you today, and she did."
Jasper narrowed his eyes. "Do as she asked. Resume cooperation with the suppliers we cut off this morning."
"Get it." Ryan replied.
In the Phoebe family mansion.
Howard Phoebe put down the phone, exhaling deeply. "Those companies have resumed supply."
He looked at the beautiful girl sitting nearby.
"Getting Jasper to communicate and let our family keep a production line, Daisy deserves credit. Tell me, what reward do you want?"
Daisy bit her lip. "Dad, I did this for the family. I don't want a reward. But if I must ask for something, I want Adeline, who caused the death of your and mother's biological daughter, to be punished. It can bring peace to my sister's soul in heaven."
