Chapter 373 Jason Had No Reason to Lie to Her

"Blood smell?" Adeline frowned and sniffed as well.

The air indeed seemed to be filled with a strong scent of blood.

Her heart immediately tensed up!

Jason, who was beside her, couldn't help but feel worried as well.

Although Mia was his cousin, the White family had gone through such an ordeal before, and now she was their only heir left.

If Mia died, then they'd truly have no one left.

At this moment, one of his subordinates squatted down and expertly sprinkled a small amount of powder on the ground.

Soon, the powder changed color.

"Blood reaction." The subordinate said.

He frowned and looked up at Jason. "Mr. Smith, don't worry. The person we're looking for is still safe."

He pointed to the discolored powder. "When I first smelled the blood, something felt off. It didn't smell like fresh blood but rather like blood that had settled for a long time."

"I poured it on the ground and indeed found traces of blood that had been wiped with water."

Following the traces, he looked towards the door crack. "It appears the blood is seeping out from inside. If it's not fresh blood, then someone might have died here before"

Adeline was stunned and instinctively took a step back. No way?

Upon hearing that Mia might not be dead, Jason frowned and immediately sent someone to listen to the sounds inside the room. Then, they finally decided to break in.

Several well-trained men in black kicked open the door and subdued Thomas, who was sharpening a knife.

As soon as the door was kicked open, a strong smell of blood hit them.

Adeline and Jason both frowned simultaneously. They turned around to cover their noses and mouths before turning back to look inside the room.

The scene inside made Adeline retch uncontrollably.

On the sofa, Thomas was being pinned down and struggling.

On the chair opposite the sofa, Mia was tied up tightly.

Neatly positioned between the sofa and chair were two bodies; one large, and one small.

The larger one's head had been smashed with a heavy object, and the smaller one had a knife through its chest.

The blood on the floor was flowing from the two bodies, most of it already dried.

Adeline vaguely recognized that these two people were Grace and Mark, whom Tim had shown her before.

The scene was too horrific. She clutched her chest, turned around, and retched while holding onto the door frame.

Jason wasn't much better off.

But after all, he was a man. While ordering his men to control Thomas and free Mia, he also had his subordinates call the police.

Involving in murder was beyond what Jason could easily handle.

He grabbed Adeline's sleeve and pulled her into the hallway, but the place also reeked of blood. In the end, he had no choice but to drag her to the stairwell.

They each drank a bottle of water in the stairwell before finally calming down.

He sat on the stairs, looking at her with a helpless smile. "This is the first time in my life I've seen such a scene. I can't handle it. It's embarrassing."

Sjhe sighed and sat down beside him. "Same here." It was also her first time seeing such a scene.

After resting for a long time, she raised an eyebrow and glanced at him. "You just said this is the first time in your life seeing such a scene?"

Jason nodded.

"No way?" She chuckled. "You can be friends with Jasper, so this kind of scene should be common for you, right?"

Jason was silent for a moment. After a while, he smirked. "Do you misunderstand Jasper, or do you misunderstand me?"

Neither of them had ever done anything like murder and robbery. They had only used some small tricks in business.

Adeline raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that so?"

Holding the water bottle in both hands, she stared at the white wall in front of her, her gaze seeming to penetrate the wall and reach further.

She said, "Thomas was trained by Jasper as a killer. You wouldn't be unaware of that, right?"

He glanced at her in confusion. "How could that be?"

He looked at her in bewilderment. "You saw it too. When my subordinates rushed in, Thomas didn't even have time to react."

"Him, a killer? Ridiculous," Jason said.

"Jasper's bodyguards are all retired special forces. Any one of them could take down ten Thomases."

"Jasper training him as a killer? Impossible."

His words made Adeline sneer. "You make a good point.""Six years ago, Jasper hired him to push me off a bridge."

She recalled the scene from that day, still vivid in her mind.

She sighed. "I still don't understand why he wanted to kill me. Was it just because I caught him cheating with Molly that day?"

The more Jason listened, the more confused he was. He turned to look at her. "You mean, the day you had the accident six years ago, you caught Jasper and Molly cheating, so they hired Thomas to kill you?"

Adeline nodded. "That's the truth."

Back then, she was hit by the car and barely clung to the bridge railing with her body's instinct. She heard Thomas calling Jasper, telling him he'd and leaving her feeling utterly hopeless.

At that time, she loved Jasper the most. She was joyfully pregnant with his child, wanting to grow old with him. But that day was like a knife, severing her love and future. It completely tore apart her world with Jasper.

"What truth?" Jason looked at Adeline with some amusement. "The day you had the accident six years ago, Jasper was with me in Neon City discussing business."

"I remember that morning, Molly, who was Jasper's secretary at the time, said she felt unwell and went back to Radiance Springs early."

"That day, Jasper and Molly weren't even in the same city. How could you have caught them cheating?"

Adeline was stunned and looked at him in disbelief. "I have evidence!"

Seeing her doubtful eyes, Jason snorted and opened his WhatsApp. He found the video from the day Adeline had the accident six years ago, showing him and Jasper in a meeting in Neon City.

The video's title was: [Learning business from Mr. Foster. It's 1 PM now, and this meeting has been going on for five hours. I'm so hungry.]

Jason played the video. Jasper was standing at the head of the table, debating intensely with the other party. His face had signs of weariness and exhaustion.

Watching the video, Adeline was stunned for a long time.

Jason had no reason to lie to her.

Moreover, she couldn't believe that Jasper, who wanted her dead, would've thought to have Jason fake a video for him.

She was a bit dazed. "You really spent the whole day in Neon City discussing business?"

"Of course!" He rolled his eyes. "I remember that day clearly!"

"We spent six hours finally closing the deal, and just as we were about to sign the contract, we heard about your car accident. Then, Jasper threw away the contract immediately and rushed back from."

"However, he was still too late. He never found your body."

She bit her lip. But that day, she clearly heard Molly and Jasper making love in the room.

Suddenly, she widened her eyes.

She remembered. During that period, Molly was determined to become a voice actress. She continuously studied various audio software and even edited a clip of words Adeline had never spoken for her to spot any flaws. However, she couldn't find any flaw all.

Adeline suddenly stood up and walked away quickly.

"Where are you going?" Jason asked.

"I'm going to find Thomas to confirm something," She said.
