Chapter 277 If You're Not Happy, Then I Am
Adeline's smile faded. She narrowed her eyes at Stella, who was rocking a red dress, and her voice turned icy. "You're coming too?"
"Yep." Stella beamed. "Jasper and I are tagging along with Bennett and Lauren today."
Wearing a maternal expression, she explained, "I've been overwhelmed with work in the design department for weeks and haven't had much time with the kids. With them about to depart, I don't want to miss this final opportunity.""I'm Bennett and Lauren's biological mother, and you're their foster mom. But our feelings for the kids are mutual, right?"
Adeline clenched her fists, itching to expose Stella's fake act. "Your acting skills are getting better and better."
"Right back at you." Stella leaned in and whispered, "If you're not happy, I will be."
"Think you're going to have a fun day? Keep dreaming."
Adeline released her fists and stared coldly at her. "Are you sure if you go today, I will be the unhappy one?"
"Or what?" Stella smirked. "Adeline, don't forget, I'm Jasper's wife and the mother of the kids."
"Today, it's my husband and my children going out with me together. What are you? Just an extra!"
"Is that so?" Adeline sneered. "Let's find out." She ignored Stella and got into the car.
Adeline's calm demeanor made Stella's face darken for a moment, but she quickly recovered, chuckled, and got in too.
The atmosphere in the car was tense. Jasper sat on the sofa, flipping through documents and making notes, while Bennett and Lauren sat across from him, looking glum.
Bennett fiddled with a Rubik's Cube while Lauren angrily sketched in her small notebook.
Stella and Adeline got in, one sitting next to Jasper and the other between Bennett and Lauren.
The car started moving; Adeline patted Bennett's head to comfort him and then turned to Lauren, who was drawing a red dinosaur. The patterns and decorations on the dinosaur matched Stella's outfit perfectly.
Adeline burst out laughing. She whispered something to Lauren, and finally, Lauren's mood lifted.
Even though Stella and Jasper were there, Adeline didn't plan to pay them much attention.
It was the last time she'd been with Bennett and Lauren before they went to the training camp, and she didn't want them to have bad memories.
Soon, the RV stopped at the entrance of the amusement park, which had yet to open. But all the staff were ready to welcome their special guests.
They all got out of the car.
"What a beautiful day." Stella got out, linking arms with Jasper. "Jasper, it's been ages since we had a day out like this, right?"
Jasper grunted and glanced at Adeline, Bennett, and Lauren. "Let's go."
"So annoying!" Walking beside Adeline, Lauren couldn't help but complain.
"Lauren." Adeline frowned. "Didn't you promise me you'd ignore them? Just pretend they don't exist."
Lauren pouted. "How can we do that? They're right there!"
Bennett, with one hand in his pocket, tilted his head thoughtfully. "I'll figure something out."
As they entered the amusement park, they were greeted by the enthusiastic staff.
Bennett let go of Adeline's hand and ran up, grabbing Stella's sleeve. "Stella, I want ice cream!"
Stella frowned and subtly tried to shake off Bennett's hand, but he held on tight. "Go get it yourself!" she snapped.
Looking up at her, Bennett blinked and said, "But when Adeline took us to the amusement park last time, she bought me ice cream and paid for it. I want you to come with me."
Stella pursed her lips, about to argue, when Jasper let go of her arm and said, "Go. Bennett rarely gets close to you."
Reluctantly, Stella turned and took Bennett to the ice cream stand. Bennett bought five ice cream cones but only held one to eat.
The staff handed the remaining four to Stella, who had to hold two large ice cream cones in each hand, her face darkened.
"Stella, hold tight!" Bennett grinned. "These four are for Lauren, Jasper, and two of them for Adeline!"
Stella's forehead vein twitched. "What about mine?"
Bennett blinked innocently. "You never said you wanted one."
Stella fell silent, seething inside. Bennett did it on purpose! Even though there were five of them, he bought five cones and wanted to give Adeline two!
Just as Stella suppressed her anger, a gust of wind blew by. Bennett's hand slipped, and his ice cream fell onto Stella's red dress, on which the white and pink ice cream melted.
Stella screamed, threw the cones away, and grabbed her dress, which she had carefully chosen to outshine Adeline today. It was worth a six-figure sum, but a ten-dollar ice cream cone ruined it!
Stella glared at Bennett, but before she could explode, he sat on the ground and burst into tears. "My ice cream!"
"Why did you throw away my ice cream!"
"I only bought five, took a few bites, and now they're all ruined!"
"You can't even protect my ice cream!"
Since the amusement park had yet to open, there were only a few people around. Bennett's crying drew everyone's attention.
Stella, already irritated by her stained dress and Bennett's crying, now felt everyone's eyes on her.
"Shut up!" she snapped. "Stop crying! It's just a few ice creams! You've ruined my dress!" Her outburst made Bennett cry even harder; He lay on the ground, wailing uncontrollably.
"Stella!" Jasper quickly came over, squatted down, hugged Bennett, and then fixedat Stella with a cold gaze.
"This morning, you kept saying you wanted to spend time with the children and build a relationship with them. Is this how you do it?"
Stella bit her lip, looking aggrieved. "Jasper, look at my dress! It is worth—"
"I don't care; you can't scold a child like this!" It was the first time Jasper had seen Bennett cry so miserably, and it pained him deeply. "You knew we were coming to the amusement park today, yet you wore this expensive dress. Don't you know the environment here?"
The tearful Bennett in Jasper's arms said, "Jasper, I want ice cream."
Jasper frowned, glared at Stella again, picked up Bennett, and headed toward the ice cream stand.
"Jasper," Stella called out to him, ready to clarify, but Bennett, in Jasper's embrace, turned his head and blinked at Stella, sporting a smirk that was both triumphant and taunting.
